From WBTV,
WASHINGTON - New polling by a national firm finds that perceptions about the state of race relations in our county have gotten worse since the summer of 2009.

According to Rassmussen Reports, a national polling firm, only 36% of voters now believe that relations between blacks and whites are improving.
You can see the poll from Rasmussen (likely voters) here. The latest Gallup (registered) results are from 2009 (they are here if you are interested), so they can’t really be used as a comparison. Polling Report (a compilation of “adults” polls) is here.

Do you see any change in your personal life?

I suspect it is the highly publicized tea party racism making people aware that the problem still exists.

I brought up the OP’s links

and I see nothing about the tea party. People were asked about Obama. He is a racist. People were asked about his handling of the Gates/Crowley affair. Obama showed his racism, and the numbers in the polls show it. He is hurting race relations.

It could have been a step forward for us Blacks in the country to have a Black president, if it were the right one.

Not surprising when you think about instances such as the New Black Panthers getting their voter intimidation case thrown out solely because they were black. Racism is alive and well, and it goes both ways.

Tea party racism exists only in the minds of the liberal MSM and others who have never been to a tea party affair and have not bothered to find out what it is really all about.

There have been numerous reports of very real racism at tea party rallies. Whether or not it is representative of the tea party is besides the point; the fact is that people have been much more exposed to the problems of racism recently.

I saw examples on the provided links of Obama’s racism. I didn’t see numerous, or even one example of racism at tea parties mentioned in the links, or any of the 6 posts so far. Does anyone have a link to a site where someone is keeping a running log of race incidents at tea parties?

Would anyone like to see more reports of racist incidents? There are tons and tons! All you want! Let me know!

You got that correct! Look at all of that liberal racism!
Not surprising when you think about instances such as the New Black Panthers getting their voter intimidation case thrown out solely because they were black. Racism is alive and well, and it goes both ways.
And at WHO’s behest was the Black Panther’s case thrown out? Oh yes, the guy that does all of the whining about racism, that’s who!
Tea party racism exists only in the minds of the liberal MSM and others who have never been to a tea party affair and have not bothered to find out what it is really all about.
But the liberals HAVE been to tea parties. Who do you think creates so much of the racism?

Racism has been redefined by the left. No longer is it an act motivated by race. Nor does there have to be any intent. Racism can only be identified by the victims and the only evidence is how they perceived said act. Further, it can only be perpetrated by the majority race(s). By this definition, Crowley is guilty of racism because Gates said so. And the Black Panthers are not guilty since they are the minority race.

Simple, ain’t it?

But as I said, it doesn’t matter if the tea party actually is racist or not, all that matters is they were the vehicle in which racist comments were brought to the public’s attention.

It is exactly this tendency of the left to consider any and all opposition to their views to be racism that has causes the perception to grow,

Really?
I’d like to introduce you to my BIL and a few of his buddies who are active TP and so racist that if a conversation turns to politics, I leave.
And that’s a 1st hand observation folks!

I don’t know whether to call that backpedaling, or dementia. First, it “is… tea party racism”, then “Whether or not it is representative of the tea party”, then “ it doesn’t matter if the tea party actually is racist”. You’re sure it “is”, then you’re not sure, then it doesn’t matter. Why the change of heart? Why is it all that matters that they were the vehicle, and it doesn’t matter that the Obamite infiltrators and Obama himself are more significantly the racists?

Gee when I compare the “racism” that was evident in the Glen Beck/Tea Party rally in DC and the “One Nation Working Together” rally on the same spot I have a bit of a struggle with your claim. The fact is that Obama promised to be the great unifier and he could have been, if he wasn’t so racist that is. Some of his administration has demonstrated racism as well as in the Eric Holder treatment of the Black Panther voter intimidation issue. This racism claim is just one of the things that will bring true Conservatives such as those in the Tea Party together this November like Obama couldn’t imagine.

This article shows that a higher-than-average number of Tea Partiers resent what really amount to political policies of racial preference. That’s a political stance, not a racist one. It says nothing about what Tea Partiers think about other races in terms of equality, basic human rights, “content of their character” etc.

But I guess when the left demonstrates total ineptitude in managing an economy, (as it certainly has) it has to resort to name-calling as the only tool left in the bag.

It is exactly this tendency of the left to consider any and all opposition to their views to be racism that has causes the perception to grow,
And, it is similarly the tendency of the right to consider any and all examples of racism among rightists to be virtually non-existent. 😦

Everybody is “racist” to a degree. I’m convinced of that. We all make judgments about people based on things that really don’t tell us much about the person. Our heads are full of stereotypes, racial, gender, social and political ones included. Likely it’s a self-preservation thing to register “otherness” and to gather, over a lifetime, bits and pieces of information, correct or incorrect, indicative or irrelevant, about others.

A priest told me a long time ago that, morally, we are not obliged to “like” anybody, or to affirm them in every way. We are, instead, obliged to “love” them; to do them no harm and to facilitate, if possible, their lives.

It has been my observation and belief that some people who will deny on a stack of bibles that they have the slightest tinge of racism, are nevertheless racist, if only “in reverse”. It’s amusing, sometimes, to hear it.
