Already depressed by the coronavirus crisis in the state, New York has been declared the state with the worst economic outlook in America.

And, according to a new report, it’s driving people to flee to other states, making it the worst state to hang on to its tax-paying citizens. . . .

This phenomenon is not limited to New York either. Leftist California is having the SAME ISSUE . . .

I worked for a San Francisco startup and spent almost a third of my time there in 2018 and 2019.

Twice, while walking to work in the financial district, I saw the fire dept/police removing deceased homeless people that didn’t wake up that morning.

Costs are indeed very high. They find themselves in a terrible place, I think. . . . But I do agree with the sentiment. Remember, I’m not liberal, I’m independent. Cali is going to collapse under it’s own crazy policies at some point. But, I think it’s unique as a state.

It’s beautiful, though.

The progressives are going to be forced to relearn this bitter lesson from history: capital will go where it is treated best.

No sympathies here for NY/NYC; they deserve to get it good and hard. IL has been in this boat for years. CA and NJ are heading there.

You think CA’s wealth tax is a one-off proposal? I have a bridge to sell you. You think it will stop at 0.4% and $30m in wealth? I have another bridge to sell you. The IMF has called for a 10% wealth tax on everyone. Hey progressives, you got a lot of ground to cover, get your rear ends in gear! The plunder is on!

The truly bad news for the rest of us is those fleeing mostly do not make the connection between what they voted for and the what happened to the places they are fleeing from. Witness CO and OR as classic examples of states populated by fleeing Californians.

This is because Republicans seem to refuse to run on the issue of how progressive city and state governments are run.
An American black is killed by a police officer. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it is almost always under the leadership of a progressive Democrat mayor.
The resulting “protests” that destroy the property of POC in these cities are permitted / encouraged by those same progressive Democrats.
Now we see an American black female police chief essentially being forced out of her job by these same progressive Democrats.

And Republicans say nothing.

I actually liked that police chief. She was put in a horribly untenable position by the city council and mayor she works for. Progressives, all of them. They won’t learn.

That police chief was showing us all how being black and female is not nearly enough to sate the blood lust of the progressives. One must also toe the line the progressives have drawn in the sand even if it goes against everything one believes in.

In NY state, 45% of their tax revenues come from the top 1%. Best be nice to the 1% or else they will move and take their tax revenues with them. Or have done so already. In CA, the portion of tax revenues coming from the 1% is similar. Good luck making up that shortfall when enough of those people leave. Push those high rates down on the rest of the people in the state and watch more people flee and take their tax revenues with them. Like they are already doing in NY, NJ, IL and CA.

The ultimate collapse of Rome took place not because of the Goth invasions, it took place because of the implosion in tax revenues that occurred when enough land holders walked away in lieu of paying ruinous tax rates. Today, people are already selling out of IL at a loss in order to get out of that state. Probably happening in NJ and starting to happen in NY. What happens when that trend accelerates? The progressives have only one answer: tax more!

Roman emperors were not politically savvy enough to blame climate change. That would have excused all their bad decisions.
 
They were better off with two consuls running the executive branch.

Here we have the Washington Examiner reporting on a report from the American Legislative Exchange Council that says the New York Is “dead last”. Really? Who is the American Legislative Exchange Council? It is an organization of conservative state legislators, formerly called the Conservative Caucus of State Legislators (a more revealing title). Their purpose is to produce model bills on a broad range of issues, such as reducing regulation and individual and corporate taxation, combating illegal immigration, loosening environmental regulations, tightening voter identification rules, weakening labor unions, and opposing gun control. It is not the least bit surprising that this group rates New York as dead last according to their standards. They have not been able to accomplish many of their goals in New York. But New York is not “dead last” according to any objective standards.

In fact, by objective standards of economic growth, New York ranks right in the middle at #25:

How disastrous would it be if New York was “dead last” (what a tone deaf headline too). They are the second highest payer of federal tax after California.
 
An unflattering article I saw this morning. Hope New York City is able to rebound eventually.

  • De Blasio has already axed $1 billion from the NYPD budget while crime surges
  • Cuts have also been made to essential public services leaving rubbish piled in the streets and homelessness rife
 
Concerning the mention that citizens of New York City were fleeing. With the articles mention of recent higher crime rates, trash piling up in the streets, government workers to lose their jobs potentially, homeless issues on the rise, etc, it sounds like a bad recipe for economic growth for the Big Apple city. I hope NYC is able to rebound from all the recent troubles they are experiencing.

As I read the other day too, a business owner from NYC, who move to Florida in June and not likely to return he said, was saying another issue the city is likely to have is higher band width speed. With all the troubles the city has had , with riots, higher crime, the economic shut down, etc. many have left the city. The author said he didn’t believe many of these people that left will return this time. In the past when similar troubles occurred people returned to the city because they had to. Internet speed was not high enough to handle remote working. Now it;s different. Working from outside of the city is easier due to high interest speeds and video conferencing. Will be interesting to see if his prediction comes true.

New York State has more cardinals and blue jays than New Mexico too. So this proves “economic outlook” in New York is great. Right Leaf? 😉

The next time you are in Los Angeles, or New York City, or San Francisco, etc. just look at the rampant homelessness and junk.

Compare it to what you have seen in the past.

Then draw your own conclusions.

USA Today is a virtual limb of the DNC.

Check out the cities for yourself and see which group is telling you the most accurate information.

Tax revenue from places like New York and California are from the disproportionately wealthy and are not a reflection of overall economic health.

You can see this for yourselves!

What exactly was the original premise that I somehow “changed?” The title says New York is dead last in ‘economic outlook’, and that citizens fleeing. I directly addressed the economic outlook by showing the New York ranks #25 in economic growth, which is an indicator of economic outlook. As for citizens “fleeing”, the state has lost population, but so has Illinois, West Virginia, and Alaska, at an even higher rate percentage-wise. There are many reasons for people relocating. Economic outlook is the not factor here because the economic outlook is not bad. It could be the result of an aging population that wants to move to a warmer climate. In any case, I did not change the premise.
 
It is an indicator.

But it is not the indicator the article discussed.

Places like New York (finance) and California (Hollywood, Silicon Valley) can hide the issues the shrinking middle class in California and New York experience.

If you want to see how you changed the premise re-read my post where I explicitly state how you did that.

But don’t look at all the successful people making a good living, because they are the ones who are driving economic growth. Homelessness is not a simple consequence of economic outlook either. So many you are changing the premise.???
