If he feels he doesn’t belong there, he probably doesn’t.

The Saint Patricks Day parade is a venerable enough institution that I am sure that people will enjoy the day without him. the same as they always do.

Good. As an avowed socialist, he and his beliefs are in direct opposition to the Church. It is better not to pretend that he or his political views are acceptable for Catholics.

Nope. Perhaps he just has an unfortunate lack of common sense, and is choosing to look like a spoiled child instead of acknowledging a private event’s right to allow who it wants to demonstrate / advertise.

As noted before, the the previous mayors in recent history were very much pro “gay marriage” and the like, but at least they were possessed of some common sense, to varying degrees.
The courts determined they have the right to do it. Mayor DiBlasio, who married a woman who previously identified as a lesbian, can use his position to express disapproval of their choice and contribute to the marginalization of the parade organizer’s unfortunate beliefs.

Indeed. Score one for the Constitution, the way it’s actually meant to be used.

And a fat lot of good it’ll do him, too. 🤷 His track record practically screams for itself.

Also, “unfortunate” is a very subjective term. I, too, think it’s unfortunate that the gay agenda is comprised of a bunch of bullies that seek to ram their beliefs down the throat of everyone that they don’t rubberstamp as being on-board with said beliefs.

I hate bullies, to be quite frank. And that’s all they are.

That they do and are.

Almost all recent prior mayors, except Dinkins, marched in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, including Koch, Giuliani, and Bloomberg. It’s not meant to be a day of politics but rather a day of celebration (and, unfortunately, excessive drinking).

De Blasio is making one faux pas after another. For instance, his handling of the recent snow and ice storms has been somewhat less than satisfactory, in Staten Island particularly as well as the East Side of Manhattan. Also, the fact he refuses to close the NYC public schools on a day like this during which driving and walking are treacherous (think school buses) shows his lack of wisdom, besides the fact the decision not to close the schools was made in the morning rather than the evening before. Even realizing that being mayor of New York is a very tough job, it’s quite a disappointing start for De Blasio, and one which reflects negatively on his judgment more than his liberal politics.
The mayor decides to close or not close schools? Not the school board? I didn’t realize that.

Well, that’s what happens when Americans vote for someone just based on political affiliation or to feel good inside and that’s exactly what happened in NYC.

To quote Sean Hannity “you get the government you vote for”.

No more excuses.

Unions and the desire to get democrats elected. New Yorkers need to wake up from the fog and realize all this “we care” the Democrats bleat about is smoke and mirrors. The majority of them don’t care about minorities, inner city folks or “the children” enough to give of their own personal stock, for one.

Until blue staters admit that, these concerns will never be addressed.
👍

Who needs him, we should be thankful. Some people put way to much importance on themselves. God Bless.Memaw
Well we should pray for his conversion because first of all God wants to save all men and second, I believe he is an ex-Catholic so pray for his return!

No, I hear?
Then why would the gay / lesbian agenda be allowed to carry THEIR advertisements in a SAINT PATRICK’S Day parade?

So…are you saying others carry signs in this parade or not?
ok
.
I am shocked you’d show up to try and defend this guy. he lacks the class and intelligence of most previous NYC mayors, which is saying a lot.

so like Cuomo, he doesn’t represent New York, but his people.

Can we have white mayors and black mayors too, Mayor Divisive?

I’m so sick and tired of the gay lobby shoving their agenda on us at every opportunity.

BTW, I wonder if he’ll make the same public when Ramadan rolls around again? 😃
And did you further read that gay rights groups were angry that he didn’t take it a step further and ban city workers from marching in the parade in uniform? The gay lobby is the most hateful group in the U.S.

I’m glad that I’m part of the 24-25% of voters who didn’t vote for this creep.

NYC already has a gay rights parade. Why can’t the Irish have a parade about their heritage without the pederast proleteriat dictating who should and should not march in the parade?

This is hard for some people to swallow, but, once and for all: HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A CIVIL RIGHT!

May I ask a dumb question? Does the NY Gay Pride parade allow the Catholic apostolate, Courage, to march in its parade as an equal member for people with same sex attraction?

The adjective I would use for your question would not be dumb.

Ironic question might be a better description, or maybe a rhetorical question might be more apt, a pointed question, or even a loaded question.🙂

At any rate, there is nothing dumb about it. Calling it a dumb question in itself would be ironic, rhetorical, and loaded.😉

Yes, the final call on whether to close the schools rests with the mayor. We don’t have an elected school board in NYC.

I actually didn’t find the weather that dangerous this morning. It was slush and sloppy, but at least it didn’t ice over. I agree with leaving the schools open this morning.

The thing I notice about NYC schools, though, is that they are usually the last to close. Many kids get a free or reduced price breakfast and lunch, and many of them would not get a meal if the schools close. Unfortunately, that is the way it is in large, urban school districts and, even more unfortunately, they use that as one of the factors in deciding whether to close the schools.

I used to live in the Cleveland area. All the surrounding suburbs would close their schools first…Cleveland City Schools would be the last to close, or not at all.

There is also a New York State legal requirement that students must attend a certain number of days during the academic year, which relates to receiving funds from Albany. This applies also to NYC colleges and universities and even private institutions. Insofar as icing is concerned, that depends on where one is located in the city: there was more freezing rain and ice precipitation in the northern borough of the Bronx and less in Brooklyn, while Queens and Manhattan were in the middle of the dividing line. I admit it’s sometimes a close call on the part of the mayor; however, I still think a decision should be reached the night before and not in the morning when, for some, it is too late to make preparations to care for their children if parents have to go to work, let alone teachers and administrators.

The difference between de Blasio and former mayors is that de Blasio is on the far left. And the far left is allied with the gay lobby to transform our culture and society from one that promotes or believes in traditional institutions such as Church, family, etc. to one which promotes secular leftism. They are succeeding. Really the left has co-opted the gay rights movement for their those reasons. Bloomberg, Guliani, Dinkins and Koch were not leftists like the current mayor is.

So…are you saying others carry signs in this parade or not?

.
Most likely anyone carrying a sign that is in harmony with the event will be allowed. “Gay” pride signs are not in harmony with the event. The organizers have the right to define the tone of the event.
