New Yorker magazine is worried about about Chick-Fil-A

My dad was from west Philadelphia, though eventually his siblings scattered to the suburbs. Back when you could walk around Darby without getting shanked, I used to visit my aunt in the summer and walk down to D&C Steaks. One of those places with the well-used grill and just clean enough to get the A rating. Best food ever. 😆😆 Then there was the Italian Kitchen - I think that was up on Baltimore Pike if I remember correctly. And there is one around the corner from my uncle’s in Upper Darby that I can’t remember the name of at the moment. I’ve only eaten in Geno’s once and I don’t get the hype. I have a love for the local shops over the tourist attractions.

I miss Wawa markets. Nothing like a Wawa. There was one right around the corner from the church where Dad would take me to Mass and we’d stop off for some light sinning in poor food choices and gambling (PA Lotto) on the way home. 🤣

You havent missed much, lots of things are still the same with wawa of course. Chick fil a is still a craving

So delicious. It is their hamburger. Called a butter burger because the bun is “buttery”. Hard to explain, but so good. I would weigh 500 pounds if I lived near a Culvers, I am afraid. Luckily, I do get to visit quite often, so I dream about butter burgers but get them only once in a while. (Can you tell I used to have an unhealthy relationship with food? Old habits die hard!)🍔

Is it any wonder that, with all the problems in today’s world, the liberal press of NYC is worried about a chicken sandwich joint that closes on Sunday? And people still read that garbage. Sad, man, sad.

LOL I was picturing a hamburger with a pat of butter on the patty (kinda like some burgers with a fried egg on top)

Sounds all lovely and cholesteroly!

The irony is he just gave CFA some awesome free press in The New Yorker!

Agreed, I hope demand ramps up to the point they need another dozen or so locations so there will be 13 joints to get under the New Yorker’s skin. Would be a delicious irony, agreed.

I love Chick-Fil-A. They’re by far the friendliest, cleanest, and tastiest fast food experience around!

There used to be this place near me in S. Jersey called Fuddrucker’s. They buttered their rolls too, so delicious. They closed down years ago though.

They just recently closed the Fudruckers in my area. I never went there. Glad I didn’t know it was good, or I would have been there too often! Don’t you hate it when a good place closes?

kneading a small amount of butter into ground beef makes such good burgers

I don’t know if it’s still done, but California used to see a “topless donut shop” open every couple years.

It was just about a guaranteed profitable scheme, dumb as the idea is, as you were guaranteed that NOW would show up and protest causing massive television coverage and a stream of customers for a while. a(Oddly, I don’t recall much in religious protests–possibly because of the way they backfired!0

hahahaha. I’m sorry…forgive me. I thought that was funny. Forgive me.

Did you read about the guy that came down from NY to help flood victims who ate a Whataburger in Houston, Texas? He could not believe how great it was.

Oh it was meant to be funny. 😉

I lived in Texas for about four and a half years. I thought Whataburger was “meh”. I think I ate in one twice. (I did like their fries a lot.)

I realize that’s like someone saying CFA sucks. 😆

Get use to it girl. Between Wal-Mart, Target, and Amazon, the only thing that is going to be left open in the future will be taverns and ice cream parlors. Everything else will be delivered by robots and drones.

Oh, it is much more un-American than that. But for all the Yankees here, Whataburger beat Steak and Shake, at least on a bet. Different places have different niches, all with their own claim. Fuddruckers is just delicious and fattening. Whataburger’s thing is the large variety of specialization one can do to one’s burger. They are set up for that pretty well. It is the Build-a-Bear of burgers.

But I don’t care. It’s all good with me (unless you talk about Tex-Mex.)

I would never bash Tex-Mex. I miss it greatly. Between the TX cost of living and the Tex-Mex, the whole state becomes more and more attractive for retirement. 🙂

I’m not anti-beef, I’m just not a burger fan. I’ll yield that Whataburger is far better than McDonald’s (and always better than Burger King), and I would stop there before a lot of places.

When I was stationed down there a friend of mine and I used to go for breakfast margaritas at Taco Cabana if night shift at the base hospital had been awful. 🙂

‘Christian traditionalism’ = REAL Christianity
New Yorker writer’s ‘Christianity’ = atheism dressed up as Christianity

What’s a “waffle fry”? We don’t have Chick-Fil-A in the UK.

Here in Italy, the nearest chain “fast food” place (McDonalds) is over a hour away by car. They don’t care for burgers and fries here.
