I am sorry; I was only offering a suggestion!
Nah, don’t take it too bad. It’s just that even in the old days, there have been uber-religious people who keep pushing the priesthood down the throats of hapless singles because they couldn’t get a girlfriend/boyfriend. The drama that results from that is something I personally find bitter.
Dyed hair doesn’t bother me either… I remember my punk faze, I had black and blue hair. Everyone thought I was scene… if you’re goth they think you’re emo, if you’re punk they think you’re scene… $#@&!
I could probably get used to dyed hair all the time, believe it or not. :o
Then again, I hang around with a lot of cosplayers (two of them being my own siblings). XD

Oh well, enough of my nerdy randomness. Carry on. 🤓

It is! I think I’m from the same area…

Yeah, I told my dad all the Italian names I wanted for my future kids, my mom was like, “But he’ll be wearing gold chains and white undershirts!” I think that was the point where both my dad and I smacked our foreheads…
Theres a simple solution to this, black undershirts and silver chains, I think im on to something 😛

Well I do not have personal experience in thattt, but from reading similar posts on this forum its clear that certain people consider the priesthood to be like a singles safety net which is really not the case at all, its a vocation you have to be called to, not just a thing you decide to do because you are single and cant get married in the foreseeable future.
You’re such a nice guy. I appreciate you as a friend…
It’s fine, you’re a such nice girl yourself… 😃
Out of curiosity, How would you all define “nice”? Its such a general term it can mean a lot of things. when I hear nice in this context I get an image of the Brady Bunch 🤷 😛

Yea people can be really ignorant and “label” people what they think they are, its comical how people subconsciously try to take the individuality out of a person and class them like anything else.

And I totally get what you are saying with the A&F crowd, my high school was full of snobs who wore the same clothes, drove the same expensive cars their parents gave them yada yada yada. I try not to judge a person’s character based on that but its undeniable that there is something you can tell about a person who wears certain things. like ive been saying this since it has arrived, but the popped collar will be the bane of humanity! and men in pink polos as well. 😛 no one heeds my warning tho 🤷
I agree. I’m sure there are some nice people that wear A&F but they’re hard to find. I’m attracted to people that wear clothes that look very neutral (ex. Old Navy is very neutral). People that have all of the name brands give off a very materialistic vibe, I don’t even carry a purse let alone the new prada bs handbag… real men don’t wear pink, period. Nor do they pop their collars… they look like wannabe posers.

I couldn’t agree more lol. the nice ones are typically the people that buy such clothes for the sole purpose of fitting in without the snobbish attitude, i have a friend like that, hes a nice and humble guy, but has an urge to fit in with the A&F crowd.

old navy is a great store, and thankfully not home to the $50 button up shirt 😛 they have reasonable prices, Jeans that are 5 times less money than those at A&F without the holes in the thighs! 😃 its a win win situation. Yea the materialistic vibe is really evident in those type of stores, people buy it for the label 🤷 something i will never understand.

L.L. Bean all the way for me… 👍

But I certainly do not agree with all of his ideas(probably being more of a pessimistic Jungian). Anyway, I have some interest in psychiatry.
But to bring back the thread (I can’t stand those people who go OT :p) I’m an Adlerian myself. In a famous attempt to cure shyness, he asked 100 women out. (It did him some good, even though every single one declined. :p) Hahahahaha 😛

I’m sure if you check over in the Moral Theology section, the COLRs will tell you that you’re “putting your soul in danger” by reading Freud.
I love COLRs. 😛 I have many a fond memory of growing up in a parish populated by them. 😛

I don’t understand buying clothes just to fit in, but that’s just me.

L.L. Bean is pretty neutral too. Stores that sell clothes worn by a variety of clicks and groups are great. They’re comfy, affordable, and they last! A&F people think The North Face products are the best jackets ever… I buy Helly Hanson as my way of rebelling 🙂 in fact, I find myself rebelling against A&F more than society.

All right; I doubt that that would have happened to Jung, though(he was more of a “ladies’ man” than he needed to be).

“Nice” as reference to a concept. But I tend to take it literally, i.e. nice. Think nice cat, nice play, nice book, nice person. See the point? When you say “nice”, you don’t mean “ruggedly handsome”, “dark and alluring” or “thrilling”. 🙂 (Any of which may actually be present.)

Speaking of, I really like REI’s own brand in terms of outdoor/adventure apparel. They tend to be ahead of LL Bean in terms of performance, but they’re more affordable than The North Face. I suppose they kind of bridge the gap for people who want to get serious about adventure sports (rock climbing, skiing, backpacking, mountain biking), but don’t have all the money in the world.

That said, I still like LL Bean for casual wear, and I certainly wouldn’t turn down a free North Face jacket!

*My 13 yr old dd wears Hollister (not A&F–don’t like the rude people who work there among other reasons) and she’s not a snob. :o I love their stores, and think that the help is often friendly and the clothes are good quality. American Eagle is another store we like…

Guess to each’s own. I prefer spending a little more, if what I’m getting is high quality clothing that will last after many washes. *

Trying to look pretty isn’t a crime either. 🙂 Sometimes relatively little money can go a long way with a creative girl.

*I agree, chev. She is a pretty casual dresser…VERY modest, as well. She’s into tees, jeans (with rips of course ) and hoodies. The interesting thing is, for a teen to dress DOWN these days, it can be more expensive than if they dressed up. 😛 But, I believe in finding good bargains, and I’ll splurge at Hollisters because I know she’ll get tons of wear out of those things. I have bought some cheap type stuff before and after a few washes, stuff shrinks…etc. You end up spending more money in the long run.

A&F owns Hollister…but, strangely, the overall concept in Hollister vs A&F is quite different. Half nude men in posters all over the A&F stores…I don’t see that in the Hollister stores here. I think that if she were the type to ONLY wear name brands, we’d have a problem (I’m not raising her to be a snob)…because there are a lot of quality items out there, without a bird on the shirt, or whatever. I buy her things at Target too…but, when comparing, I think the quality of tees and jeans at Hollister, and AE are better. It’s a fun store too, for kids. A little noisy at times…but… :o

How did we get to talking about this one here? :ehh: I need to scroll back through.*
😉

I don’t know what that reminds me of a Dolly Parton quote “You’d be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap!”

And special bonus one:

My weaknesses have always been food and men - in that order. I love Dolly Parton. 🙂
