Well I never was very good at geometry but how does that make it an upside down cross? Or is it detremined by the size of the peson doing it? you know right side up for a small person and upsdie down for a tall person(or would that be the other way around)?
Well… unless your forehead is somehow closer to the middle of your shoulders than your heart… then you might have a point.

In regards to proportion, it’s the same thing even for small people. You’re all making an upside down cross which is satanic.

Gee thanks for letting us know this…So what is your source for this great revelation? You do know us Catholic’s are not the only Christian’s that make the sign of the cross right?

Well… it doesn’t take much to know that an upside down cross is an upside down cross.

Just because other people do it doesn’t make it right side up either. It’s still upside down.

Only in your twisted mind.

I would like to remind you that when you registered here, you agreed to be respectful of all religions, including Catholicism. Calling a symbol on one’s faith satanic is hardly respectful. Are you a man of your word or are you a person who lied to register just so you could ridicule our beliefs and practices? If it’s the latter, show me in your Bible where lying is condoned. If it’s the former, then act like it.

Fact: you guys make an upside down cross.
Fact: an upside down cross is satanic

Where did I lie?

How about a women with a big bust??? Wouldnt that change the prorportions? Or if a guy had no arms or legs would that work for you? What if i went to my belly buton instead of my heart? Does that work for you?

Fact: It has been explained to you that the sign of the cross is a dedication to the Triune God of our thoughts, prayers and actions.

Fact: You have totally ignored this and insist on calling the sign of the cross satanic.

Fact: You agreed when registering at this site to be respectful of all religions.

Fact: You’re being disrespectful.

Fact: That makes you dishonest.

Last Fact: Your disrespect is being reported to the moderation staff.

Well… you guys asked to name at least one shady tradition and I did. Now you’re mad because it’s true and it can’t be disputed.

So can you say jack chick?..This sounds like some of his nonsense, anti-Catholic, and bigoted lies he and his ilk spread. In other words this stuff he spreads is the work of Satan.

Fact: you guys make an upside down cross.
Maybe so - who cares? Actually the one I do is longer on the sides and shorter on the vertical - would you say that a sideways cross is also “satanic?”
Fact: an upside down cross is satanic
According to whom? (Jack Chick isn’t a Doctor of the Church, so his opinion doesn’t count - ditto for Ian Paisley, Lorrain Boettner, etc.)

The Pope has an upside down cross on his chair that is in remembrance of St. Peter, who was crucified upside down. 😛

Your contention has been satisfactorily refuted. You just refuse to listen. No one is mad but some of us are irritated at your continued disrespect for our religion.

No. People are getting annoyed because you persist in this silliness that the sign of the cross is satanic. When we make the Sign of the Cross, we offer it “in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Yeah: that’s Satanic, all right.

I guess I worded it wrong (once again) and I apologize. What I meant to say was that since the Traditions aren’t written down anywhere and are just passed on orally, I think it seems kinda shady because it leaves it open to get misconstrued from generation to generation. And, how do you know your dioceses are all following the same Tradition?
It’s the same way we know about Western Civilization. The inventions, history and customs of Western Civilization aren’t written down anywhere, but we know them when we see them, and we know that when we’re in Chinatown, even though we’re “in the West” that this is not part of Western Civilization, but is a transplant of Eastern Civilization.

It’s the same with the Traditions of the Church - we know them because we’re immersed in them from birth; if someone were to come along and try to change them, we’d know about it, the same as if someone were to come along and try to tell you that the light bulb is not a product of Western Civilization, or that the Madonnas of Raphael were actually painted by a Chinese person - you might not know how you know that’s wrong, but you’d definitely be sure that that’s wrong - even if you had no idea where the light bulb came from or who Raphael was, you’d still recognize the imprint of Western-ness on these products; you’d know that they were not “made in China,” because you’ve been immersed in Western culture all of your life, and you recognize it as well as you recognize your mother’s face.

True? How do ya figure trigger?

Not even close.

The only thing that appears upside down is your reasoning.

The Signum Crucis covers the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in anything but and upside down cross. Moreover…St. Peter was crucified upside down. What’s that mean?

What are you, a member of some oneness church or something?

Reject the Trinity do you?
:ehh:

Which one of the images below is “inspired” and which is “satanic”? Would your answer be any different if you viewed the images whilst standing on your head, assuming you’re nimble enough to do so (and it seems from the content and tone of your posts you are pretty young)?
Let us know when you are through being silly (not to mention the least bit irreverent?), and we can try to learn from one another.

Seeing as this thread is about Traditions, it is our Tradition that St Peter was crucified on an upside down cross, as he didnt feel worthy of being killed the same way that Jesus was.

There is nothing in Scripture to say that an upside-down cross is satanic, so whos Traditions are you quoting from when you claim that?

It’s kinda obvious that he just finished reading Boettner’s book, now knows everything, and is placing more faith in Boettner than he is Jesus Christ and the Bible.

I really don’t mean to sound rude or anything but this is really dumb.

We make the sign of the cross to remind ourselves of our baptismal promises.
I am not sure which of the Eastern Catholic churches do this but when they make the sign of the cross, they will hold their thumb, pointer finger, and middle finger together, and the other two fingers separate.
The three fingers signify Trinity, and the other two fingers signify the human and divine nature of Jesus.

As for a list of Traditions, I think that wanting to see a list of Traditions is a misunderstanding of what “Traditions” are. I have to admit I am a little bit confused on how these Traditions are transmitted, ( OK a lot confused) but what I have heard in debates, is that is not something that can be written down. I have a lot to learn, I have Patrick Madrid’s book “Why is that tradition”, but I haven’t gotten to it yet.

While we are on the subject, is there a list of what the Bible teaches? If Bible has been preserved then it should be easy to identify them

One book I read myself, which was actually brought home by my wife before her conversion from the Baptist faith was “Catholocism for Dummies” by Father Frank Tregillio (sp?).
Catholicism for Dummes authors are
Father JOHN TRIGILIO and Father KENNETH BRIGHENTI

Here is an amazon link to the book: amazon.com/Catholicism-Dummies-John-Trigilio/dp/0764553917/sr=8-1/qid=1167492392/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-2976203-3068613?ie=UTF8&s=books

I only know, because I’m currently reading the book and it’s here at the desk.
