Hello there. Well I googled and found what Novus Ordo means I think. New Order, Mass in English? or is there more? Some changes in ritual I see. Also figured out TLM duh!!. Did you know that according to Novus Ordo Watch website, the Popes from Pope Pius XII onward are heretics and imposters??? Bet you didn’t know that huh, did ya?? The members (implication ;goofballs) of the Novus Ordo Watch movement are what…? I have no words for their description.

I was raised during the 40s and 50s and was well acquainted with the Latin (Tridentine?) Mass and loved it. I couldn’t understand why Paul VI outlawed it when he introduced the Novus Ordo Mass. Didn’t make much sense other than perhaps he thought this would bring more interaction of Catholics at Mass. Don’t think it did as far as I am concerned. Also just what impact to rituals have on the dogma of the Mass? Rituals smituals, isn’t the Eucharist, the observance, belief and rceiving of it, the Mass? I mean really, do we HAVE to believe other parts of the mass MUST be said in one way, or another? What’s the infallible rule here?
Don’t believe for one second that the Popes we have had are heretics and impostors. That is just blatant nonsense.

Ya know. I give up. I can find the beauty in both the Novus Ordo and the TLM. For those who can’t I guess you think Paul VI was wrong for approving the Novus Ordo. Under this Pope we should now have 2 forms or rites, but you just want to eliminate the newest one and alienate a whole generation of Catholic who don’t know anything but the NO. You should be able to worship anywhere or you missed the point of last week’s Gospel reading.
Yes, I do think the release of the NO was the greatest pastoral blunder in the history of mankind, even though the Pope had the authority to do it.

If the TLM eventually replaced the NO I think that would be great. It is difficult to imagine anyone being alienated from the traditional prayers and beauty of the TLM unless they just didn’t want to put forth any effort to learn how to participate in it. And I think it would help draw people into the Church and further vocations.

In the meantime, I hope any Mass is celebrated as reverently as possible; it would be really good if the NO was celebrated ad orientem much more often.

Of course one can celebrate a Mass just about anywhere. However, you want to offer Him the best we have in terms of worship as well, and lift the people’s hearts and minds to God.

Just because technically we can get by with the bare minimum (or nothing at all) in regards to liturgy and art and architecture and still have a valid Mass doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to do so.

Fine. Reinstate the TLM. But I’m going to go in praying the prayers in English and I’m sure God will understand just as well. And I will have my missal to read the English translation of the whole service.

Careful here ! Some traditionalists will call for your hide
Good luck in their witch hunt. I see no problem in having both kinds either. I grew up during the time of the Latin Mass and it is beautiful and I did miss it. I will probably go to one again, if our parish offers it. But the New Order is fine too, at least with me. Of course someone told me on a posting on one of the forums that I don’t sound Catholic. Did Christ sound Catholic? Don’t think so…😉
