Hey I am totally ok with outlawing 99% of abortions for now, that’s a pretty good start. We can get the other 1% after we do that.

Of course non of this is the actual current argument in the political world. Unfortunately no one is proposing a complete outlaw of abortion but restricting it to certain periods and whether they should be tax payer funded. Of course we have some wacko judges saying its illegal not to fund taxpayer abortions, what is going on in their head I can only wonder.

I’ve come to accept that I’m politically homeless as a pro-lifer who is also pro-refugee, a believer in single payer healthcare and anti-death penalty. I hope the American Solidarity Party gains traction and God looks kindly upon our best efforts in the meantime.

A lot of people are political “orphans”. I certainly am. I’m conservative in most ways, but more liberal than the liberals when it comes to providing for the needs of those who truly can’t help themselves.

But I imagine there are a lot of people who are “orphans” at least in the Repub party. They just stick with it, but with reservations.

True Democrats, I think, are a pretty homogenous group in those things that the party actually stands for…abortion on demand and gender bending. That, I believe, is why the Dem party is so anxious to foment and exploit divisions and resentments. It gives them a chance to capture voters who would not otherwise vote for them.

It would take a lot of discussion to know in which ways we differ. But I will say I’m pretty persuaded by the teachings of the Social Encyclicals, and, given a proper degree of subsidiarity, I believe we truly do have an obligation to provide decently for those who really and truly can’t help themselves. In some respects that’s easy. There are a great number of disabled poor, for whom provision in this country (regardless of the party in power) is, and remains, woefully inadequate. Whether that’s best dealt with on a national or state level is simply a subsidiarity-capability issue.

As someone who hangs around with the left side of the spectrum, not really. In fact, the transgender issue is a great way to provoke a fight. I also got a great deal of sympathy on the wedding cake issue–and this from LGBT people. And trust me, there was much trying to bully people to vote for Clinton, same as there was for Trump.

Greta van Susteren did an interview with now President trump at the beginning of his campaign. He said he approved of abortion in cases of rape, incest, life if the mother and some time during the first trimester.

Most abortions are first trimester abortions.
 
The exceptions most Republicans agree on are life of the mother or rape. These are less than 1% of all abortion. They are a non issue imo. I really don’t think rape should be a death penalty. In the case of the life of the mother, I’ve seen evidence that the life of the mother can be saved in every incident without murdering the baby

Excuse me? Where did I say any of that? I was responding to the comment that if you don’t want a baby, don’t have sex. Do not twist my words.
