**That’s like telling Shakespeare that YOU know better than he did about what he *****meant ***when he was writing.Saying you understand the verse do NOT mean you do.
BTW, we were speaking of Paul’s verse you quoted, not about what Jesus was saying.
The Catholic Church WROTE what the Holy Spirit guided it to write (John 16:12-15).
We are COMMANDED to hold fast to what the Church teaches – whether by ORAL statement or WRITTEN letter (2 Thessalonians 2:15).You do hold fast to what you’ve been taught.
**As humans, God KNOWS better than we do about HOW we will accept things from him. **God does us men and women but not exclusively (Saul’s conversion- maybe you missed it. I saw it when I read Acts.)
God doesn’t need us to create but he chose to use us to do it.
God doesn’t need Baptism but he chose this as a method for us to be born again and join his family.
God doesn’t need a priest to hear confession but he chose this method because we need to hear that we’re forgiven.
That’s why Jesus gave the CHURCH the ultimate Authority here on earth to be used in his name (Matt. 18:15-18, John 20:21-23).That includes not leaning on the understanding of church leaders cuz that verse is for all of us, is it not?
