Non-Catholics, what do you dislike most

Not at all, my childhood was very good. Two superb parents, many close friends whom I still talk with on a regular basis, many good memories and a good education.

Sorry, no sad story here.

Perhaps non-belief I could see comming from someone with this upbringing. Hate though just doesn’t seem to be logical to me. I don’t believe someone could just grow up hating God if everything was hunkydorey in thier lives. Doesn’t work that way.

Ahh. Opinions are amazing things, and sometimes they masquerade as facts. I’m not going to try and convince you, or anyone else for that matter.

Besides, I never claimed it was logical.

If your “name” is an allusion to the French town where a lot of Catholics come ( in pilgrimage ), is “Lurdes” the English spelling ? just out of curiosity, I know that sometimes there are small differences of spelling ( for instance in English you write Marseilles and in French it’s Marseille … ) ; the French spelling is Lourdes …

but this spelling is neither English nor French is Spanish Lurdes!

Please note that I am well awere that neither Mary, nor the “saints” are worshipped, in theory. But whether or not this is the case in “praksis” is another matter entirely. If it is happening (Mary has been called “co-redemptrix”), and the Vatican does not speak out at least as heavily against it, as it did against the Reformation, it has made itself accomplice.

Justification.
On this subject - Scripture is clear. Man is saved by faith alone. The TRUE faith, that is. And true faith is one that shows in deeds. As late as yesterday, when I was asked to speak at my local youth group, I taught that, based on Rev 2-3.
To the untrained eye, this above statement might sound very much like the Roman viewpoint. But it is not. The Roman viewpoint is, as I have understood it, that God’s grace “gives the strenght to keep the Commandments”. This is, in my view, sidestepping the clear issue in Scripture, that it is by faith ALONE we are saved - the TRUE faith, that is.
That does not mean that we need to go around all the time worrying about whether or not we are doing enough good deeds not to go to Hell. It means that since we KNOW that we are saved, we should do good deeds, because that is the way Our Lord has prepared for us (Eph 2:10). The idea that works merits salvation is a very human idea - which can be recognized in all other beliefs - which is excactly why it has no place in the Christian church.

To all three of my points: They are, in my view, unscriptural, and instead of pointing towards Christ as man’s only hope, they point towards man himself.

I’m glad a Lutheran ( if you are a Lutheran, which I assume due to your “name” on the forum, but who knows ? My “name” here is “Huguenot” because I wanted to show that I’m French and Protestant, but I’m Evangelical,not “Reformed” … lol ) mentioned “the cult of Mary” among the things he doesn’t like in Catholic doctrine because on this forum I’ve seen several messages saying that Luther “loved the Rosary”, had a special veneration for Mary and so on … maybe at the beginning , but it seems his opinion evolved gradually … that’s what I understood from some texts I read…

( without any particular order )

°infant baptism

°the doctrine of purgatory and all that goes with it ( indulgences … )

°veneration of the saints ( which includes the veneration of Mary, the belief in Marian apparitions and so on … )

( well there would be a few others but you said “three” … )
