I fully accept the masculine pronoun usage for God as long as people are as serious about it as keeping the Church feminine and referring to her with female pronouns.

I read the Bible, cover to cover and I took to heart Jesus’s (Joshua) Christ’s saying to his flock to “Prove all things”…So, I have become a scholar.

Pray tell me. Where did you get the above quote? "Jesus’s (Joshua) Christ, who is he? What passage in the Bible do you quote “Prove all things…?” If we could prove all, then we would not need faith. After His Resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God berated St Thomas after the latter made his profession of faith “My Lord and my God” saying “You believe because you have seen me, Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

My point is that with the advent of the internet and other media, the Bible has been brought into question, yet it is the basis of our faith. If you look for Truth outside the Bible, you need to be very careful as to what you read to come to the truth. While I congratulate you on your willingness to find the truth in reading the Bible cover to cover (better than I am willing to do), if you want to find the Whole Catholic truth, speak to a priest who can guide you.

The Catholic Church has scholars better than you or I who have dedicated a lifetime of studying the Bible cover to cover and I will dare say that even they have things to learn from it.

I have been Catholic for over 55 years,…and maybe I have expanded and researched to step outside of the Herd, from time to time…you see, in questioning the religion my parents, their parents, their great grand parents, raised us all in…confused me in many respects and those answers which were not forthcoming…I was told to find them for myself, bless the Wives of GOD…I read the Bible, cover to cover and I took to heart Jesus’s (Joshua) Christ’s saying to his flock to “Prove all things”…So, I have become a scholar…and proved to myself that Catholism has changed many times and continues to change…

Back in my great great grandmother’s youth…the Holy Spirit was recited in the Second position, as our Mother God…her Creation in LOVE was then before our Lord, God’s Son.

So there was a time when this too changed.

Daily, I continue learning more and more about where and how our Universal Catholism began, its ancient Councils and Bishops, its beginnings and identical manisfistations to other World religions, etc., and in doing so and reading ancient text outside of what is allowable or not considered sacred Biblical text, I am expanding my knowledge of ancient religious history. There are proofs, daily, that Catholism even now utilizes the ceremonial dress and symbols of Lamaism…which is from Hinduism, Brahmanism and Buddism…shocking but true, see Eqyptian Pharoah art/cravings, and we all know the Pharoahs lived/worshipped/their destinies began long before Catholism…so to, see the Gospel of the Infancy, which regards Jesus’s life while in Eqypt, until his return at approx. age 12…maybe following our Universal religion to its beginning is not something most can or want to do…in reality maybe this could be forbidden for a reason?, but, in this I prayed daily for GOD to help me find this Knowledge to discover it…since then, many, many years ago, GOD has been with me and provided his leadership in this manner. There is a saying that when the student is ready, the Teacher will come…

(ok, I know I will probably regret this but…) can you please explain the bolded phrase above?

WOW!!! This is the best thread EVER! I need waders to get through it’s murky theological/philosophical swamp. How about this? Jesus, the Chirst, said:

ABBA = Daddy…

So, Jesus, Himself, answered your question…it is correct to say “Him, He, His.”

I’d just completely forget about getting “scrupulous/worked-up” about God being either male or female. We’ll all know soon enough.

You might consider changing to another Parish. Inclusive language and changing creeds, liturgy is a sure sign of Secularism invading the Holy Mother Church. It (Secularism in the Church) is not good, run, don’t walk to another catholic parish !!!

Likely, since you cannot bring yourself to read the Bible, cover to cover, you have MISSED many TRUTHS…I suggest instead of relying on someone to tell you what you need to believe, you find the TIME and Courage to read it for yourself…then you will find this passage and know THYSELF better yet…

(ok, I know I will probably regret this but…) can you please explain the bolded phrase above?
I know that they are at times considered the Brides of Christ, our beloved NUNS…but I see their LIFE’s breath and commitments are to GOD…as even our Lord Jesus Christ said, as his first commandment " Love thy Father GOD, above all "…so they are the Wives of GOD…

I don’t know who trained you, but I’m holding in my hand the Rule of St. Francis, written for us in 1209 and it clearly reffers to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and none are referred to as Mother. You said that your grandmother was tuaght this way. I don’t know where. But who ever taught her, did it wrong. Your grandmother is not 800 years old. We have documents much older than that that refer to God in the masculine.

As to the vestments of the priests, each rite developed the vestments according to the culture. There is not one single set of vestments in the Catholic Church. What the Romans wear is different from what the Greeks wear, which is different from what the Melchites wear and so forrth. To say that our vestments came specifically from this pagan group does not pan out, because we have many Catholic Churches with many different vestments and rituals.

Finrally, the Trinity as defined by the Catholic Church is far different from the shadows of a trinitarian deity found in pagan cultures. They may have had a shadow, which is possible. God does try to to reveal truth to all men. But the full revelation came only through Jesus Christ. To say that they had it fully developed denies the efficaciosness of Christ’s revelation of the Trinity. We have to be careful not to take from Christ’ s revelation.

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂
Actually, in learning the TRUTHS, it would be best to remember that the Missionaries were a creative bunch when it came to converting, by force and or gentle, manipulative persuasion, the poor, heathen peoples, which I claim right to…my great grand mother was brought up by hers…the pueblo was very poor and remote and no church was within a short walking distance, so during those times there was always the belief in a Mother GOD and she was invoked as part and parcel to the pueblo peoples faith…as you know, eventually, since the people continued to include her in their practices, secretly…Our Lady, Mother of Jesus, was created by the RCC to supplant their heathen faith and religion, thereby incorporating and satisfying the Mexican peoples by switching their faith from Mother God (Earth Mother) to that of Mother Mary…regarding the vestments, they may come in many colors, but the designs, especially regarding the headgears, was taken from Lamaism (Hinduism, Brahmanism, Buddhism)…there are several shapes, meaning different levels of caste priesthood…even some of the symbols are the same…so not only was the Trinity, Triune, Triad, Trimurti, taken and incorporated (plagarized) into the RCC New Testament stories…This was not a shadow as possibility…but are written ancient facts, since these Wisdom-Religions are proven thousands of years older than Catholism…some of these same Wisdom-Religions also have stories/allegories also included into the BIBLE, of the Virgin Births! ( Christna and Buddha) and The Crucifixion! (Christna)…in giving me the response that there may be a shadow as a possibility, I will agree that the RCC defines it to make it a little different and not exact to the other ancient Trinity Wisdom-Religions, however, this does NOT detract from the FACT that these concepts, ideas, allegories and stories of GOD’s Creation were not taken by the RCC from the Oriental/Eastern Ancient Wisdom-Religions. I know that had you been able, you would have denied this concept to me outright…had you been able…however, here and now, I state that you are AWARE and know these FACTS, as SPIRITUAL TRUTHS…and by your vows, you cannot command this and voice and or write it as UNTRUTHS, because you have and kNOW this Knowledge…as a scholarly Son of GOD…

Well, I have read the Bible and have yet to come across the text mentioned by yourself. Would it hurt you to give me chapter and verse? May I also ask which Bible are you reading from?

It reminds me of a hindu that I worked with who claimed that the Bible says that Our Lord Jesus spent years in India before preaching in the Holy Land. I have not found it and neither have priests that I have asked.

That is interesting…likely it has to do with the ancient text written that while he was raised in Egypt (the land where Moses became Egypt’s High Priest), from infancy till aprox. age 12, he must have become aware or even initiated with Gnosis (knowledge) of Buddhism (India, root based…so too is Brahmanism) through the Brotherhood sects of the Essenes…the Nazarenes…who also have a sacred text, known as the Nazarenes Codex…see Jesus’s early life history in the ancient sacred text, noting his Infancy history…these ancient texts are only considered sacred text and not Biblical, by the many religions of today. There are other sacred text, The Book of Mary, The Book of Thomas, sacred, by not Biblical…Regarding this verse whereby Jesus said that we are to “Prove all things”…I am sure…your Parish Father would be delighted to show this to you and even explain what Jesus meant in the context of why he said this…however, dear one, I would recommend EVERYONE read their Bibles, COVER TO COVER…it is a wonderful accomplishment and a noteworthy deed to expand your own KNOWLEDGE (Gnosis)…
