she is a knowledgeable person. therefore, Iam thankful she is my sil because she can help me or others understand things. i guess i do not get why certain groups oppose the TLM. I see it as normal for me, my wife says the same thing.

She completely confuses me. Oh, well.

I think this issue confuses me somewhat because I see no reason validly why the TLM is not freed up. I also do not understand the opposing attitude of some people.

I think theyā€™re terrified that (1) people will be drawn to it, and (2) theyā€™ll go back to their Novus Ordo liturgies and demand that they clean up their acts and celebrate Mass more like ā€œthose peopleā€.

I donā€™t know if this will happen (but I can hope), but I think the opposition is very afraid it will.

Simply because plenty of people are perfectly happy with the NO as it is, and do honestly fear change. After 40 years itā€™s all some of us know, remember!

It comes down to this Frank: The clear majority of people who oppose the Traditional Latin Mass want to make the Church into their own image and likeness.

I was a novice in a religious order 10 years ago. One of my fellow novices who was as modernist as they come, was talking about our First Vows Mass. We were given the option to pick the music and readings for the Mass. He said to me that he wanted to see my ā€œmarkā€ on the Mass. I replied that the Mass doesnā€™t belong to me, it belongs to the Church. I said I will only do what the Church approves.

This is the attitude of the clear majority of people who oppose the Traditional Latin Mass. They donā€™t just oppose, they want it abrogated. Then they can make the Church in *their *own image and likeness.

They repeat the words spoken before the creation of the world: NON SERVUM!

I donā€™t have any problem at all with the Tridentine Mass. The liturgy, that is. I do have a problem with the disobedience and other ā€œissuesā€ found around the people who go to these Masses, however.

Not everyone who likes, or even prefers, the TLM is disobedient or schizmatic, but there are enough of them buzzing around that I prefer to steer clear of the whole scene, for the most part.

But nobody will ever have to attend a TLM, ever. Anybody who wants to can attend the NO for the rest of their life. So I think thereā€™s another dynamic involved.

Not for me. Or for my wife. I love the TLM. it is where we stay.

Thatā€™s a very small minority Lily. Why would someone who loves the Novus Ordo want to deny someone the opportunity to attend the Traditional Latin Mass?

Why fear something you donā€™t ever have to attend? The motu proprio will not force anyone to attend the Latin Mass?

The fear of the majority of Traditional Latin Mass opponents is that it will bring back a worship focused on God. You cannot make the Church in your own image and likeness if worship is focused on God.

Hmm, well what is so wrong about cleaning up their acts?

I believe you make valid points. Many have invested quite a lot of time and effort to bring us to where we are nowā€“the anything goes type of liturgy.

True. That is the way it should be, the focus on God should it not?

How can that be? Why would they want an anything goes type of Liturgy?

I think the real fear is that unwarranted judgements like this will be made about the NO! Both are perfectly valid and properly promulgated liturgies, both, if celebrated according to the rubrics, entirely focused on God.

Because there is a trend to turn the focus from Christ to the wishes and desires of the community. Whatever makes people happy.
