Your point is well taken, though I note somewhere in scripture there is a mention of telling them twice? and then, if they refuse to listen, wipe the dust of that house from your sandals and woe be to them(paraphrasing) That certainly could be aimed at our illustreous “Catholic” politicians who openly challenge the Church about their willingness to encourage and support the slaughter of the innocent unborn for votes.

Just a few thoughts… If we walk away, why pray? Also, If I took all scripture literally, I would be missing my eyes, my hands and my feet. I think more appropriately, it tells us that if they are recalcitrant, that we should not waste our time on them, but that we should keep praying for them, which we should be doing daily in praying for the conversion of sinners. This can also include ourselves.
