Nutmeg and Cloves! 😋

But yes, apparently you would have to consume a very high quantity for it to be at a dangerous level.
CNS effects have been observed at a consumption rate of 1-2 grams per kilogram of body weight, with toxic overdose occurring at 5 grams. (Source: Drugs.com) But that’s a LOT. A 60kg (133 lbs) person would need to ingest at least 60g of nutmeg, or roughly 12 entire seeds, to possibly suffer effects on the CNS.

I have a rice pudding recipe that calls for a whole nutmeg seed, but even if I were to eat the entire four-serving yield in one sitting I wouldn’t come close to reaching any concerning level of nutmeg toxicity.

I use nutmeg when I bake. Nutmeg is specially good when you make fruit cake during Christmas time. It has a wonderful aroma not too overpowering.

I put nutmeg as well as cinnamon in my apple pie.

For apples in my pie, I prefer a combination of golden delicious and Granny Smith apples.

Talking about speckled nutmeg skin, someone once used that phrase to describe me. 😊

Depending upon genetic makeup and general health at the moment, as little as two teaspoons of nutmeg can cause toxicity.

Just remember the admonition, “All things in moderation!”

This thread is a proof that nutmeg has it’s place in culture and is doing very well! 😃

So far, I like the taste, I add it to my coffee for now. Oh and the roasted carrot someone was mentioning, I tried that as well, came out good!

When it comes to coffee, it’s a fine line when it’s just enough and when it’s almost too much of nutmeg.

I love pies too! I will have to make some but need to get the ingredients at the store this week…
