Mama used to make banana creme pie, apple pie, lemon merangue pie, peach pie, cherry pie and my all time favorite, Boston Creme pie (chocolate filling). Hubby still makes homemade pies. We live in cherry country.

My friends, this is an apple pie.

I put nutmeg in my homemade fried Apple cider or buttermilk doughnut holes.

Quality portion control is lacking but these are the real thing from my kitchen.
Enjoy!

What are these? They look great…need the recipe!

Today, after lunch I was feeling nervous…for I went to Walmart this morning…I remember it use to be a happy occasion…now with the virus…well, I was scared! Too many people was NOT practicing social distancing…I had to tell this man that he was not six feet away from me and he got mad! I am fortunate that I made it out alive…what if he had a gun? anyway, I was feeling sad, nervous…so I had a cup of hot green tea and put some nutmeg in it…it was wonderful and calmed me down…

Sorry to hear that. I took a train home, after delivering my car to a mechanic today. I remembered my highschool years, when I was driving with train every day. I could see us (me and my friends) crowding at the door, because all the seats were taken. Today. The train was almost emtpy. Every second seat had a red X on it and a few high school aged kids were looking at their phones.

Better take some nutmeg.

A train? Please tell me where you live…wow, a train…we don’t travel here in the ISA by train…

Wow! how wonderful! I am very private so don’t want to make my email public…what country…I am in the USA but my ancestors where czech…

I cooked mine longer for a very crispy outside crust. Add a little nutmeg and a small splash of vanilla when mixing up the dough. Rather than roll dough into balls, I carefully dropped into hot oil with a spoon…hence the ragged surface.

Sorry to hear about your anxiety ridden trip to the store. 😧 I get the same way. Try shopping stores when fewer customers are there.

By the way, I won’t buy doughnuts from store bakeries…especially those self serve cabinets. I’m thinking Covid 19. Now I make my own fried cakes and really nothing compares to fresh made from my own kitchen.

I always use nutmeg in any cream based sauce I make. It enhances everything it touches!

I enjoy the following recipe:

Four-Spice Salmon

  • 4 6-ounce skinned salmon fillets
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds or ground coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon whole or ground cloves
  • 1½ teaspoons cumin seed or ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil, grape seed or other neutral oil, or clarified butter
I cook it until the salmon just slightly resists when pierced with a thin-bladed knife… I then throw the salmon out and Eat the Nutmeg 😜
