The reverse of the Friedman coin I posted refers to the 41st Precinct as “Fort Apache”. It’s an American police department, it’s racism all the way down

Show me that it was racist. Not that you think it was racist, but that is actually is racist.
You have an insane understanding of what racism is. It isn’t worth discussing with you. I don’t even understand what you would consider to be racist. As far as I am concerned the designs on the challenge coins in the article speak for themselves. They are basically blackface, and they depict these blackface characters as criminals (being hunted down by man hunters).
Yet if someone like you would hear us talking, you would all say we were racist.
I probably would, yes.

What I don’t understand is the purpose of these coins. Are they supposed to be collectors’ items? Somebody has to pay for making them, and I’ll bet they’re not cheap.

Yes, they trade them like Pokemon cards. Except instead of pictures of fictional creatures they have pictures of real-world violence and racism.

Giving a nickname to a police precinct that fashions the mostly non-white population as savages to be conquered is pretty textbook racist.

Sounds almost as if they don’t have enough to occupy themselves. However, as these cops are probably “fraternity-like” maybe it isn’t as silly as it seems at first blush.

But I doubt the intent really is racist. If most NYPD cops are NOT white, it seems likely they’re all in on the joke, but we’re not. Seems the offense more to political correctness than racism.
