The plan all along is/was eventual Govt Healthcare. The old saying when one is penniless: “At least you have your health” may no longer apply if you don’t vote “correctly.” Wink wink. Bye bye Miss American pie…

Communism or Libertarianism. Take your pick.

I don’t see how it promotes the common good to make people pay for people who abuse their body with food, drugs, cigarettes etc. I am healthy, I eat very healthy, I work out every day, I don’t smoke, I drink moderately, I take zero drugs, yet, I am mandated to pay more for those who abuse their bodies? That’s discriminatory. We can spin this all day long bottom line Obama care does nothing to promote virtue, it only fosters resentment and entitlement. Jesus taught the importance of virtue, nothing about Obamacare is virtuous.

How about those who could afford it before and can now not afford to pay “a bit more” seems selfish either way you want to angle it. The bottom line force is not how virtue is fostered. The Catholic social teaching on Poverty foster virtue. Obamacare is a distortion of that and uses guilt to persuade good people. The means does not justify the end.
If a person cannot afford comprehensive health insurance, they certainly cannot afford to get sick. Plus, there are federal subsidies available for people who cannot afford to pay the full price for their new insurance.

Massachusetts certainly has its share of poor people, yet 97% of our state is covered by insurance policies that meet the minimum standards required by the ACA and the state. Why do you think it would be any different for the rest of the country?

I for one refuse to comply with thevACA mandate. It goes against my religious beliefs.
This is where the rubber meets the road.

Healthy, young people are less incentivized than ever to buy insurance. No pre-existing conditions? Cool. 1% or $95? Per year? Big deal…cheaper than buying the insurance. Obamacare is an abject failure.

I went without minimal insurance for a decade that only covered serious illness and I afforded getting sick just fine. I took the upmost care of myself. I relied on natural remedies and when a doctors call was in order I had a savings for that. That was a personal choice and I expect no one to be responsible for my decisions. I am happy to have the freedoms to choose what I think is the best care for my own body. Obamacare takes that freedom away and forces upon me things I do not want nor need. I do agree we need to care for one another and have compassion for the sick, even those that are self inflicted, but forcing people to do that is not the teachings of Christ. We should encourage and promote charity. Again, I think you are missing the point of virtue. You accused those of us who disagree as being selfish and not adhering to the church’s teachings, yet the teachings are that of charity and virtue. Please explain how Obamacare fosters virtues.

Regarding abortion in particular, a state may prohibit qualified health plans offered through the exchanges from covering abortions. If they do cover abortions, they cannot cover the cost using any federal funds but must collect a separate fee for them.
This is where buying insurance across state lines can be of a lot of value. I’d be interested in finding out which states and to whom they extend this type of coverage.

So we have went from" your premiums will drop 2,500 a year" to “your premiums may go up but it’s for the greater good”? If Obamacare is so good why did they have to lie to sell it to the American people?
What Obama said was true for the 80% of people who already had health care insurance, because their plans met the minimum standards.

The other 20% either had bad insurance plans that will be upgraded or plans that were cheap because they discriminated against certain people.

Given that whole point of the ACA has always been to provide affordable comprehensive health care coverage for all Americans, I do not see how anyone can complain without being selfish.

So why was it necessity to lie to sell it to the American people. If it were a matter of income redistribution and reigning in selfish people went didn’t they tell us that in the first place?

Sure. Believe what you want.

You didn’t rebut any of my previous posts. By your own faulty reasoning, I won those points. 🤷
Bellasbane To be fair you also haven’t answered my questions regarding Obamacare and virtue, but I was willing to let it slide out of charity : )

Bellasbane, a lie is a lie, - yet it sounds like you’re saying “its okay because its only 20% a lie.” Obama flat out promised the American people: “if you like your own insurance, you can keep it.” And this is a huge point because one of the concerns about Obamacare was/is that people would be forced to go on a plan that they didn’t want or like, or forced to give up their plan which they were satisfied with. So we now know that Obama, and Obamacare was fraudulent. And here you are seemingly defending this to the bitter end. Oh well, such is blind partisanship, I guess - which is different from virtue.

What he said!

This is just another case of the elitists telling us what is good for us, because we are too dumb to discern for ourselves and select our own coverage. They know better, so they will force it upon us minions. Who ever is falling for this spiel? “You poor minion, you simply didn’t have good insurance before and you just didn’t know any better- you are a victim of your own ignorance and evil insurance companies, but don’t worry we are fixing that for you- we will be your savior- signed the government”

Oh. and never mind it was pitches to us as a flat out lie. Never mind that part, because for Liberals the end always justifies the means.
👍

P.S. You’ll be able to afford the increase in premiums and higher deductibles without any problems. Just don’t eat.

Well, so far we have Clinton lying, Bush lying, Kerry lying, Obama lying, Romney lying. Does anyone else notice a pattern here. 🙂
What did Bush “lie” about?
Its the old, “all politicians are the same, Democrats and Republicans are the same” mantra that those who vote for losing 3rd parties repeat all the time. As if the 3rd party guys would be angels and tell the truth all the time if they came to power. That is the biggest lie of all.

Yep. The people who never get elected president are the most honest presidents ever. 🙂
