Oh, you missed my request for the source to what you heard about the current spending being due to anticipation of a Romney win.

It’s talk like that that let’s me know to expect no credit to be given to this administration for anything that might prove to be the start of good news.

A question: why can’t the Presidential election be postponed for one week perhaps, to give voters who are recovering from the hurricane more of an opportunity to cast their ballots? I know the time of the election is written in the Constitution, but what if we had (G-d forbid) a terrorist attack or major earthquake, would it not have to be delayed?

No, it should not be delayed.

Even for a major disaster. Wartime. Terrorism. Or any other reason.

If an excuse can be made to delay the election, an excuse could be made for postponing it indefinitely.

There were a lot of people who thought GW Bush would try a tactic like that both in 2004 and 2008. They were ready to take up arms.

That’s a crack in the wall we do not want to support…from either side.

Since early oting is a new concept, that won’t happen. Not a week before. The week of, maybe.

People voted for years on election day and by absentee ballot.

More high class behavior from Obama supporters. An Obama re-election organizer is facing charges that he “grabbed” a Loveland woman’s breasts while giving her a campaign sticker on Tuesday, police said.

Luke M. Buchanan, 24, of Washington, D.C. is charged with unlawful sexual contact, a misdemeanor. The victim’s name was not released. She is 21 years old, police said.

He has since been fired from his job with the Colorado Democratic Party.

“The female reported an adult male knocked on her door, identified himself as a member of the Obama political campaign and asked to speak with her about her voting status,” Loveland police said in a statement Thursday afternoon. “The victim reportedly spoke with the male for a short time and he then asked if he could give her a campaign sticker. The victim accepted and the male allegedly grabbed her breasts while applying the sticker to her shirt.”
Now it would not be at all just to blame the Obama campaign or the Colorado Democratic Party for the behavior of this deviant. Please don’t assume that I am doing so.

But why is it that deviants like this seem to be attracted to the Obama campaign?

*(NB: For those who would say that the GOP has as many deviant crazies, in my experience, the far right kooks tend to not come toward the GOP, because they tend to believe that the GOP is part of the great illuminadi conspiracy and are part of Da Beast just as much as the Democrats are…)

*On edit: another example would be the recent MoveOn dot org ad. I won’t link to it because the ad contains a huge amount of vile profanity coming out of the mouths of some senior citizens…would not be appropriate for this forum…even to link to such a thing…
Yea, but sexual perversion is not partisan as you would have people believe, if anyone were intellectually challenged enough to believe it. There in every party and it’s funny to see the denial, even though it’s sad to see the double standard.

Seriously? If we had a major terrorist attack, you believe the election should proceed as usual?

Do you really think we could get the two party system to agree to a fair delay? hehe

It’s sad, but there isn’t a genuine concern of disenfranchising anyone. In fact, some partisans, from both parties, would love it.

100%.

Elections have never, to my knowledge, been delayed in this country. Not for the War of 1812, not for the Civil War, not for WWII. Never.

That is a fundamental principle of our form of government. We have a timetable, outlined in our Constitution, for the peaceful transition of government.

You DO NOT want to imagine the consequences of such an action.

I don’t know if you follow the far left conspiracists at all (I am not accusing you of being one, just if you keep an eye open for them). I do. I also follow the far right conspiracists. One thing both have in common is a fear that their nightmare president will create a “Reichstag Fire” as an excuse to stay in power. A delay to an election would validate their delusions. I heard this from those who were “Bush phobic” and those who are “Obama phobic.” (I also heard it from those who were similarly repulsed by Reagan and by Clinton, by the way)

I certainly hope that no government, of either party, would ever be foolish enough to try it.

“So I would live within the law, within the Constitution as I understand it, without creating a constitutional crisis. But I do believe Roe v. Wade should be reversed to allow states to make that decision.”
Abortion is evil intrinsically. Romney is not even personally opposed to abortion and supports abortions for the life of a mother–something well known to never happen and iexcuse and likely is just a legal loophole for therapeutic abortions.

Allowing the states to legalize abortion is the same as allowing the states to legalize slavery. It is of national importance that abortions are stopped and defines us as a nation.

The election should proceed as scheduled. Realistically speaking, there will be no effect on voting results, versus voting totals, in the blue states traumatized by Hurricane Sandy. If there is no provision in the Constitution for changing the date, the election must go forward as required by law.

Law over the possible loss of rights by any group of Americans. I thought laws were to protect rights? Oh well, too bad for you people that lost homes, jobs, or even family members to this storm, the law comes first and our hands are tied. We can’t have an amendment, but don’t worry we’ll give you your representation according to our own partisan views.

Dang I should sue the school system. That doesn’t sound like the democracy they taught me in school, back in the day.

I am not going to speak ill of any bishop; however, we have different instructions on voting every election, from bishops. Why would that be? Of course partisans grab the one they can use to support a particular view.

Oh, our sins are not between us and our confessors? And so what if it’s a public sin, where are we allowed to ‘gossip’ about them? When you determine others ‘evil’, or ‘good’, even you have talked outside your authority and judged another person and the intent of their heart.
Firstly we are not gossiping about them. As far as I know, none of the Bishops who have made statements about politicians have reversed their positions and said they were in the clear.

Secondly, a condition of a valid confession is to go out and try to sin no more. These people still support abortion at all costs.

Objectively, these people are still sinning even though several Bishops have called them on the carpet. They cannot claim ignorance.

This is not partisan. In fact, quite the opposite.

There is a good reason why the voting date is written in stone. Please look at history.

I want the election to proceed. Apathy for Obama is obvious, evidenced by even a NY Times reporter: White House Correspondent Mark Lander took to Twitter yesterday and admitted the number of people attending President Obama’s campaign rallies is less than impressive, especially so close to Election Day. In other examples of Democratic voter apathy, both Cuyahoga County and Hamilton County (Ohio), key Democratic vote sources, are down 15% in early voting. Lets keep election day on schedule.

While I disagree with you characterization of Democratic enthusiasm, I completely agree with keeping the election on schedule. If we start messing with that, where does it stop?

John

You think Democrats are enthused as they were in 2008? And what do you think of voting trends by independents towards Romney?

While I believe Romney may win the popular vote, I tend to believe Obama will likely prevail in the Electoral College because of my home state (Ohio). I may have to disavow my Buckeye roots if they award the election to Obama.

Oh, because our Church makes an authoritative decision it opens it up for the laity to call the sinners names, judge them from that point on, or any other malicious public activity? I never saw that in the hierarchy of the authoritative Church. We are allowed to discuss them personally as laity?

These things are being done for partisan advancement. I’m sorry, there is no righteousness in political parties. It can only be found through God, and He’s not political.

Sorry, history of men is not justice for people. We can only find real justice through One Source. He offers real hope and does not want to withhold from anyone.
