So… anyone who has a compassionate point of view that is different from your desire of dictatorship idealism is a troll?
Anyone, who admittedly is a lurker, shows up every now and then with comments that IMHO,are for the sole intent of stirring the pot…if it talks like a duck…

You don’t think our defence budget is bankrupting the country too? Or how about the war mongering across the middle east? I’m sure supplying arms and intel in this Arab spring wasn’t free.
National defense is one of the primary (and only) clearly defined roles of the federal government. Most of the other things we spend money on have no place in a federal budget, and belong in state or local budgets, as the COnstitution and Catholic Church allow.

You want to cut waste? Sure, fine. Avoid foreign incursions? I have no issue there. However, we also have an obligation as Christians to do what we can when feasible. Letting foreigners get slaughtered by thugs or tyrants is not a Christian way to live. Financial realities require prudence in deciding when to get involved, but I can;t imagone Jesus encouraging me to stop and ongoing rape or mugging because I couldn’t afford it.

The same people who want to cut defense want to ramp humanitarian aid and want us to get involved in places like Darfur. Both will cost billions. So it comes down to “fight for the causes we support” in the end.

Try gutting the intelligence and laying off tens of thousands of workers, and see what that does the unemployment rate, and rate of successful terrorist attacks as well.

I had high doubts you were telling the truth, simply because I’ve never met anyone in Britain who ever spoke positive of the USA’s health system.

And report me if you want, I could care less…
Or couldn’t care less, even.

Obamacare will get me absolutely nothing, except rationing and death panels.
Probably true, but people here who think Romney is serious about the debt I think are dreaming. Both he and the rest of the republicrats have sacred cows that they will never touch. For the GOP it’s the defense budget, for the democrats, it’s education and medicare/medicaid and social security. The reality is they all need to be cut and taxes raised to pay for the debt. But that’s political suicide for them in a country that has been brainwashed into thinking good things come without sacrifice.

The Reagan tax cuts provided an avalanche of tax revenue, as did the Bush cuts (to a lesser extent). The problem is that spending went up.

The problem is that spending went up.
Do you really think it will matter if Romney or Obama is in there? Romney wants to increase the defense budget 4% without raising taxes and without cutting social security, medicare/medicaid.

One reason is that if they were to cut spending significantly, the economy will shrink without all that government subsidy further killing growth and tax revenue. As Survivor says, there’s no easy way out.

I don’t believe that the comment was aimed at you.😉

I disagree with your politics, but you have always been a civilized, Catholic poster:)
He and I were roomates in the Air Force. He’s an amazing cook too. Especially Italian food.

2 reasons I trust Mitt:
  1. He will cut taxes (including stealing AKA the death tax), resulting in more investment
  2. Paul Ryan
🙂

Only because he had a better economy, and they stalled things fairly quickly, hence the need for the Bush tax cuts.
The economy stalled after 8 years because of a tx increase? The economy tanked much more quickly and deeply after the bush tax cuts.

I am not sure I will get a real answer, but do you pay income tax?

And I do think of others, and donate to charity. And I don’t steal your money to do it.🙂
Well then, think of taxes as donating to charity.

And yes, of course I pay income tax. I am self-employed so I pay more tax than most on this board.

I’m not at all worried about next Tuesday (Obama will win), but should Paul Ryan win in 2016 (let’s hope America isn’t that stupid), your children would be forced to give birth after a rape and also would be faced with a coupon in a certain amount of dollars to cover ever rising medical expenses.

Get out! Really?

Thank you both and God bless you both for your service.
Thanks man.

Yeah, we’re friends; I went to his wedding a few years back. Good guy, a bit more negative than me, but also taller, so its a wash.
