Ok, despite sea levels rising an average of 3mm per year, in 2010 & 2011, they dropped 7mm. but, this explanation to make it fit the ‘global warming catastrophe’ scenario is risible.

A Scientist Explains the Mystery of Recent Sea-Level Drop
So in order to make sea levels fall, the water had to be stored in a place where it didn’t reach the ocean for a long while. That place, it turns out, was Australia.
“Australia is really unique,” said Fasullo. In the continent’s eastern interior, most of the rain that falls runs inland, into a salt lake called Lake Eyre – never reaching the sea.
Lake Eyre is the lowest point in Australia. It’s usually a dry, salty flat. But when it rains heavily, the basin fills, and the lake teems with new life, as long-dormant seeds spring to life and birds flock to the lake.
7mm + 4.5 mm that they had been rising = 11.5 mm drop in sea level from what was expected
(3mm per year rise for 18 months = 4.5 mm)

any idea how much water that is? 11.5mm over the entire water surface of the planet? It is certainly far more water than fell on Australia in 2010 & 2011 despite their claims. With that amount of water, Lake Eyre would be enormous but is it?

Lake Eyre National Park - current status 2013

As of 16 August 2013
Despite this local rain, Lake Eyre North is now dry with a brown stain down the Warburton Groove.
Lake Eyre South has less than 5% surface coverage in the southern section of this lake. With temperatures and evaporation rates about to increase, unless there is rain, this small amount of water will disappear in the coming months.
so, where is the water?

NASA Study Examines Antarctic Sea Ice Increases
NASA and British Antarctic Survey scientists have reported the first direct evidence that marked changes to Antarctic sea ice drift caused by changing winds are responsible for observed increases in Antarctic sea ice cover in the past two decades.

Where do you see “Changed the definition of global warming”?
You mean to “climate change”?

That was earlier . Now they are telling us the surface temperature is not always a good indicator we have to look at ocean warming. Not a single model ever produced during the golden era of global warming hysteria came even close to predicting the climate conditions we have had for the last 13 years. Its a hoax-a hoax designed to give govts more power and seize more money for the populace.

Ocean warming is crucial. That is where hurricanes get their energy. It leads to erratic weather extremes. Your concerns about governments wanting more power and seize more money may or may not be true. That is speculation, not science. But they will also need that money for disaster relief as floods, hurricanes, tornados, draughts, etc become more frequent.

But even if none of that happens, we are still trashing the earth, God’s gift to us.
We need to change.

“The vocation of being a “protector”, however, is not just something involving us Christians alone; it also has a prior dimension which is simply human, involving everyone. It means protecting all creation, the beauty of the created world, as the Book of Genesis tells us and as Saint Francis of Assisi showed us. It means respecting each of God’s creatures and respecting the environment in which we live. It means protecting people, showing loving concern for each and every person, especially children, the elderly, those in need, who are often the last we think about. It means caring for one another in our families: husbands and wives first protect one another, and then, as parents, they care for their children, and children themselves, in time, protect their parents.”

Interesting that we are having one of the mildest hurricane seasons in decades. I am still waiting for someone to post any model that predicted the 13 years “stall” In global warming

Yet, hurricane and tornado activity are at historic lows

Agreed. Therein lies the problem with the hysteria over global warming/climate change without solid evidence, just a theory. lt destroys credibility of the environmental movement, valid concerns are discounted as hysterical predictions fail to become true.

The Pacific Ocean is actually cooling. scienceworldreport.com/articles/9254/20130904/pacific-ocean-impacts-global-warming-lowering-climate-temperatures.htm

Ocean temperatures are problematic for MMGW proponents in several ways. First, of course, they can’t calculate the effects of vulcanism on ocean temps because they don’t know where most of them are or what they’re doing.

But transfer of heat from atmosphere to ocean is very slight, because the oceans can hold massively more heat than the atmosphere can. That’s why England isn’t an icebox and they can grow grapes in France. The effect of oceanic temps on atmospheric temps is much greater than the reverse.

Some estimates are that it takes about 3,000 years for a full “equalization”, which is a dynamic process anyway. Some believe that to the extent we’re seeing any warming, which has gone on since the Little Ice Age, we’re only seeing the effects of the Oceans giving up their heat from the Medieval Warming Period which, as we know, was considerably warmer than now.

Natural climate cycles govern ocean cooling. Yet when this cycle reverses and the Pacific waters begin to warm again, the increase in global temperature will resume quickly. In fact, we could see some major changes to our world’s temperatures. Currently, researchers aren’t sure exactly how long this cooling phase will last and predicting Pacific conditions more than a year in advance is impossible.

“That speaks to the challenge in predicting climate for the next few years,” said Shang-Ping Xie, one of the researchers, in a news release. “We don’t know precisely when we’re going to come out of [the hiatus] but we know that over the timescale of several decades, climate will continue to warm as we pump more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.”

The findings reveal exactly how important it is to take into account various environmental impacts when it comes to predicting temperature. In addition, it shows exactly how the current hiatus has come about and has enormous implications for future warming conditions.

Hurricane Sandy was not bad enough The deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, as well as the second-costliest hurricane in United States history.

Hurricane Sandy was not bad enought? Tthe deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, as well as the second-costliest hurricane in United States history.
So the current cooling from the energy absorbed during the Middle Ages (when it was much warmer than today) could be expected to end in a 1000 years or so?

Have you aked yourself WHY Hurricane Sandy was so destructive? Could it possibly be because it struck a heavily populated area? The exact same path 100 years ago would not have been nearly as destructive even with the same strength of storm.

An EF5 tornado in the city limits of Moore Oklahoma is much more destructive than an EF5 tornado that touches down in an empty pasture.

Even if it were true that climate change is nothing to be concerned about (which it is not), is that any reason to continue abusing the earth?

Sandy was not a hurricane. The amount of damage done is a function of where it hits-not how powerful it was.
