Whether or not you realize it, you still have it better than so many people in the world. You live in a country where you can vote for the leader, where you can openly criticize the leader, and where you can get the food, clothing, and medical care that you need. You live in a first world country.

So many people would be delighted to have what you take for granted every day. I’m not particularly religious and I’m happy with the election, but I think that you need to look beyond these election results and count your blessings. Honestly, this comes off as a slap in the face to all of the people who would love to have the luxuries that we have here.

And if you’re being serious and are truly struggling with these feelings as a result of the election, then I hope you find the help that you need. And I’m not being sarcastic.

Edit: I see that you already addressed me above. Oh well, I’ll leave these thoughts too.
THANK YOU FOR THIS POST! #firstWorldProblems right? lol

This was no surprise to me at all tonight. I knew Obama would win - It was obvious.

Romney was a lousy candidate and did little to connect himself to minorities or anyone who wasn’t rich. I honestly couldn’t tell where he stood on anything, and that hurt him big time. No one can trust someone to lead this country if he/she doesn’t even know where he stands. Romney also wanted to end medicare, which I think we all knew would hurt him.

If republicans truly want to win back voters, they need to stop being extreme and get back to the center. Stop telling women what rape is, and stop telling them what they can do with their body. Keep religion out of politics and lets focus on the things we actually can all work on together. Obama has helped many of my friends who previously couldn’t get health care. Republicans need to seriously re-evaluate what their plan of action is, because it’s alienating most people these days.

Take a deep breath and realize this isn’t the end of the world, folks. stop complaining. Oh, and Obama IS IN FACT your president. ONE NATION, with ONE president. whether or not you agree with him on many issues, he is STILL YOUR PRESIDENT.
True. Very true. But remember we’re citizens of Heaven before we are citizens of America.

If this man, this man, opposes God and our right and duty to love and serve God as He has deemed fit, and not as this man has deemed fit, we are obligated to disobey - insomuch as it does not result in a greater evil.

I really don’t know. I cannot understand how ANYONE could vote for him. It’s really unbelievable to me.
According to CNN, vote by religion went as follows: Catholic:25% (Obama: 50% Romney:48%). It’s not like only a couple of Catholics voted for him.

There are four sins that cry to heaven for vengeance. In order of importance:
  • homicide
  • sodomy
  • oppression of the poor (especially widows, orphans, foreigners)
  • defrauding laborers of their wages
Some people focus on the first two, others focus on the last two. It’s a matter of getting the hierarchy straight. Not many people realize that the first two are more relevant than the third one, but the third one is not irrelevant either.

just because he is voted into office doesn’t mean you have to support your leader, what kind of thinking is that, people followed Hitler (see i can use that when it’s directed at Obama) so you would support a leader if he did something extreme as round up Jewish populus and execute them?

you can accept him as leader but you dont have to back that person.

Let’s not get too discouraged, folks. Remember that we are in it for the long haul, the very long haul, and we know that good wins in the end!
Yes, but no one looks forward to suffering. Sin begets suffering. The electorate has enshrined very serious sins into the nation’s character.

dear god…CNN is already talking about gay rights win…that didn’t take long, i give it another hour before they talk about dead babies…

What would you say then, on the matter of loyalty, to the Chinese Catholics in China, if they had to choose between the state-run Catholic heads and the Vatican? I know that some Catholics are somewhat vocal on the issue.
I’d suggest they review the Catechism, Part Three, Section One, Chapter Two, Article 2, Paragraph I.

This deserves an answer. It is a question of degrees but is a serious and relevant question for American Catholics now.
Loyalty has always been an important issue for Catholics in particular. I suppose all of us will deal with what is before us as we must and walk our own paths, to the end.

Your little cartoon guy forgot his helmet.

What kind of bullets do spiritual guns shoot?
Who are you kidding? That bandana’s all he needs! That emoticon’s beastly. 😛

I don’t know if the angels have guns. They do have swords, spears, and chestplates - at least if we’re to rely of traditional depictions of St. Michael. We ask him in a prayer to defend us and protect us from Satan. We’ll need his help now.

Really heartening to hear the voice of sanity at least occasionally in this forum

*Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. * (Psalm 115:1-3)

Guess the passion of the Church around the world will come sooner rather than later, On the bright side, suffering purifies.

I fear we won’t recover from another 4 years of Obama. Our best hope will be hearings and getting the truth out about what really happened in Libya and holding this admin responsible for the deaths of 4 Americans.
I agree there should be a thorough investigation of the Benghazi murders, but I don’t think this is really our best hope for improving the country’s economic problems.

Well put. Where did you get that hierarchical list? I heard something similar on a catechetical program on our local radio station.
