Obama has won

Obama won and America died.
I think America died with the passage of the 16th and 17th amendments and has taken 100 years to see the effects of these abominations to the republic. It converted the government into an empire, one that caters to the mooching class that votes for whoever promises to give away more free stuff.

Direct elections of senators permitted the senate to become fiefdoms of populist with no check by the states on federal government behavior. The income tax gave government the opportunity to raid individual incomes to grow unencumbered.

This is why I am not certain it mattered which one of the establishment candidates won. The country ends up in the trashcan faster under one than the other.

As my amended signature says, I am more partial to my faith and my liberty than I am to a piece of land. God created it all, so He doesn’t love any one chunk of land any more than another.
A diifficult priority to come to terms with. We don’t want to bite the hand that feeds us as with Obama, and I can relate to these young adults. My niece a Salva Regina graduate, all Catholic schools, couldn’t see past the immediate medical insurance issue. I understand the dilemma expressed on this thread as I do many young adults here who found the Republicans insulting.

My America died. Americans demonstrated their desire for a new secular socialism. The HHS mandate is the first step in active anti-Catholicism. If Catholic charities, universities and hospitals have to close because of America’s chosen path, so be it. It makes me sad, but the pro-Obama Catholics who implicitly approved the HHS mandate by yesterday’s vote for Obama can live with the consequences. I voted against Obama, ergo, I voted against the HHS mandate. I will no longer vote. Americans can do whatever they want without my participation. Why bother.
Exactly my position.

Today we give thanks to God for the leadership and person of Barack Obama. May God grant him the serenity to accept the things he cannot change, courage to change the things he can and wisdom to know the difference. Inspire him, oh Lord, to provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty in accordance with thy will.

Amen. 👍

I am truly amazed at the bitterness I am hearing. I have been voting since 1976 and my preferred candidates have lost a fair share of elections. At no time have I threatened to leave this great nation or refused to acknowledge the winner as my president, senator, etc.

If you cant tolerate democracy, perhaps it is best if you go somewhere else

This is the American way.
I recognize Obama as The President. He will never be My President, which is the same position I held with Carter and Clinton. There is nothing wrong with that - remember the millions of Americans who decried Reagan and Bush as the anti-Christ? I’m not taking that route because I don’t hate Obama. Americans voted for a different America; nothing says I must like it, however. The consequences of this election are much greater than previous elections because of the ‘transformation’ of America into a more secular socialist nation. I’m not leaving the country. I’m simply withdrawing from the political process. I’m not bitter, either. I don’t hate Americans who voted for Obama. I’m apathetic now. I have nothing against you, John, or any of the liberal posters here. God bless you all. You can transform America however you like. I will just live here, care for my family, and practice my Catholic faith within the limits imposed by the secular government.

To those dissapointed with the election there is no point in pity and despair. This was just 1 battle. The Church will win in the end

Ditto. Except I will continue to vote. As long as there is a pro-life…pro-traditional marriage…pro-religious liberty candidate running for president…I feel it is my moral obligation as a Christian to vote for that candidate. It does not matter if the majority does not agree with me.

LOL. Has Sean Hannity created more jobs in the private sector than the President in 4 years! Maybe we will have another billion dollar stimulus thrown down the drain.
A billion is chump change to the levitation it was 3/4 of a trillion, 750 billions.

Nonsense like that is why Obama has won. Americans have wisely decided to reject such nonsense.

I will remain faithful to the Magisterium and the Holy See. I am Catholic, my only desired status. To the Catholic Church I will always remain faithful.

I commend you for your desire to remain politically involved. I do not feel similarly required to vote for anyone as a Catholic. I am only compelled to render unto Caesar what is his. Voting is an American right, not a duty. I’ve never seen anything in our Catechism that requires me to vote as a Catholic living in the United States. I will listen to valid Church authority, however.

No, Obama won because moochers outnumber the reliable, people who want more free stuff from the government outnumber the self-reliant. We have passed the tipping point and now will only slide into the mire. Enjoy your future.

My big disappointment was Eliziabeth Warren defeating Scott Brown for the Senate.

I’m pleased that the Assisted Suicide Bill lost, but it was close.

Also, I believe now that Obama doesn’t have to worry about re-election over the next four years, he’ll return to his ideological center, which is where he actually is.

I also pray for him as president and ask the God inspire him to lead the nation well.

Maybe now that he doesn’t have to cater to the extreme left of the democratic party, he’ll have another meeting with Cardinal Dolan and give the Cardinal what he asked and expand the exemption of the HHS mandate.

Regardless how we all feel about the election results, we need to pray to God for our president and our nation.

Jim

Indeed.
