Their views ought to be demonized as they are nothing more than relativism.
So learn the arguments (even the academic pro-life arguments, which I bet many of you don’t know). I cannot comprehend how you can be so passionate about this issue and not know every argument. This is not quantum physics either. You cannot blame lack of resources or time. Anyone can get a sense of these arguments in a week or two.
Do that, and engage them properly.

The arguments are mostly an admixture of hedonism, nihilism, and relativism. The engagements of this type are mostly in academe where dissent is not tolerated and frankly what rules the day outside that arena, unfortunately, is not academic brain masturbation but politics, sound bites, and cash.

It feels to me that both the President and God are “pro-choice” in the grand scheme of things.

God does allow us to kill people in wars and on the street with guns; he allows millions to be gassed and macheted in genocides and holocausts and he “allows” little kids to be tortured and raped and murdered.
Those are terrible things, but he allows them. Because he gave us free will.
God himself could have created women in a way that abortion could not be possible. But He did not do that.

I think abortion is horrible, and I hope no woman does it.

But the terrible truth is that women have been doing it for centuries upon centuries–whether it is legal or not–and if it is not legal, they do it in ways that endangers their lives even more and harms even more people.
Making it illegal will not stop it, it will only make it more dangerous.

Replace abortion some other word like slavery or rape and your argument shows itself for what it really is.
As for the second issue–that many don’t want to “pay for” someone’s abortion–from what I understand, you don’t have to.
Obama’s policy does not require anyone who does not want abortion coverage to get it or pay for it–for themselves or for others. Under the law in Obama’s policy, states have to offer at least one health plan on their insurance exchanges that doesn’t cover abortion services at all.

I really wish more people would take third party canidates more seriously as well

Parties evolve. The Republican Party can and will take stock due to the current election. As I mentioned earlier, new leaders such as Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan will transform the Party. I hope the same happens to the Democratic Party despite their win, which was hardly a mandate. They are also in need of change.

A viable third-party would be good for the system. The problem lies in money…the majors have all the big donors and won’t give them up easily.

Yes. It is similar to Pennsylvania. There were only a few counties that were blue. But since those counties included Pittsburgh and Philly…Obama won by a huge margin. Virtually the entire state was red…and yet Obama wins by a landslide. It doesn’t make sense to me. I can never see Pennsylvania being won again by a republican in my lifetime. And there are many states in the same situation.
 
I really do believe that time is changing especially with the young groups. Republicans are just no longer working. We need something new.
 
Obamacare, Now

I was always among those who thought the goose was cooked on Obamacare after Chief Justice Roberts’ gymnastics. But there is still some hope of fighting a rearguard action. Consider three stories out today.
  1. Republicans have become the first party in 12 years to hold 30 governorships, having taken North Carolina for the first time in 20 years. They also hold 26 state legislatures.
  2. Much of Obamacare’s implementation still relies on the action of said governors and said state legislatures. (Though folks quoted in the story speculate that a lot of hesitant red states will have been chastened by yesterday and come around).
  3. But not Missouri, not yet. Missouri has passed a ballot measure forbidding the governor from creating Obamacare exchanges unless enacted by state law, which under current conditions means that there simply won’t be a state exchange.
 
Those who keep touting the Latino vote as the one and only thing:

Explain to me how this got Obama Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin or even Michigan and Pennsylvania.

It’s not about Latinos, Blacks, Jews or GLTBQ—it’s about the entitlement culture.

It’s very simple, especially with immigration:

If you are going to run around telling people that they can move to XYZ state or city and get freebies, loafers from all over the planet will come.

If you have a climate of capitalistic growth and incentive, hard-working business professionals and people with a meaningful education that is useful somewhere will come.

The GOP doesn’t need to start becoming more liberal or dolling out handouts. We’ve tried that under “compassionate conservatism” and it does not work.

It’s getting to a point where a good chunk of that isn’t even ours to give anymore.

Liberalism fails no matter what race or gender or religion people are.

After the dust settles some, **this president’s approval ratings will dive. **

We may have been wrong about the election turnout, but liberalism has a good few millenia of failure on its historical record.

Most of the Congressional delegation is Republican…basically everything in the center. My small county came close to supporting Obama in 2008, but the gap was larger for Romney this time around.
