What is your answer to the problem of the debt, then? After increasing the taxes on the “rich” fails to do anything (other than perhaps get rid of some jobs), what do we do? You don’t want to cut. We can’t tax our way out of this (as I am afraid that President Obama is wanting to prove). What is your solution?

Peace

Tim
Sadly, no solution will be forthcoming. Some have bought the mantra that taxing the rich will solve the problem. It won’t even fund one week of this debacle. What has to happen, as in the past, is that the economy has to grow and produce more taxpayers. That idea is anathema to the Obama crowd. We are on our way to becoming Greece and it won’t be long. It is hard to believe that so many people can’t, or refuse to see, the seriousness of the financial situation we are in.

I suspect you liked the outcome. it makes it easier to stomach when your guy wins.

I don’t believe the sky is falling myself because
  1. The policies of the last four years haven’t worked, and won’t. Finances don;t work by magic and hope. I suspect we’ll see unemployment stay between 6-9% for the next four years, the stock market will crash in december when the major investors pull their money to avoid the impending cap gains increases, and there is no reason to believe the debt will suddenly start dropping, when it went up an average of 1.5 trillion per year in the first term. Quantitative easing has flooded the market with cash, and the inevitable result is going to be hyperinflation of a historically low-valued dollar. Let’s the 50% that elected the President react when the price of good spikes to record high. I can afford to pay 3 times the current price for a gallon of milk, though it will require an adjusting of our budget. The average family cannot.
  2. We control the House. Had we controlled it in 2009, we’d not have obamacare or the stimulus. If anything is to get passed, it will require some agreement on the benefit for all Americans. Anything that is too far left or right, will sit, and that will maintain the current gridlock.
  3. 2014 will see 20 democratic senate seats up for election. Historically, the GOP will almost certainly gain seats. To do otherwise will buck history. Parties rarely last more than two-terms in the white house. Bush rode Reagan in, but in general, the country wants a change. The odds right now favor a change in party control in 2016, even without considering candidates and events that will occur. The Republicans also have a more recognizable crop of young candidates than the Democrats. It is typically easier to gain recognition as a candidate as a member of the opposition party, especially in a lame duck term. The focus for the controlling party (Dems) is on the President, and the lions-share of attention goes to the opposition who can make strides a viable Republican alternative (See Obama in 2008, versus McCain who was overshadowed by the Bush legacy).
  4. The Republican party is 200 years old, give or take. They aren’t stupid. They recognize certain inroads they need to make (latinos are the key, for me, as I fear the female vote will require too much of a sacrifice on abortion rights to maintain your evangelical base), and the fact that for two elections now, the “get out vote” campaign of the dems was much better. There is no practical reason for that to have to continue.
  5. The brunt of the already unpopular Obamacare has yet to hit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obamacare#Effective_by_January_1.2C_2013
I personally cannot wait to see the reaction to the mess that this is going to create for individuals, families, small businesses, large corporations, and doctors themselves. I have my insurance through the military, so the impact for me is nil, other than potential yearly premiums hikes.
  6. I believe we are in store for a major terrorist attack in the next four years.
So all in all, I am optimistic.
Turn out for Obama was like the 2008 turn out which raises the question would that happen be for another democrat candidate or this is unique to Obama considering he is the first Black president and has high likeability ratings?

I do not think enough of us considered what the Obama campaign had done. They had years to assure and boost their ground game while republicans were fighing for the nomination in the republican primaries. I think republicans have learned a lot from this election. They are going to step up their game dramatically for 2016 in terms of social media and state level ground game and they should not start in 2 years, they should start now. Apparantly republican turn out was lower than for George Bush or John McCain. What explains that?

Obama was down nearly 14% - 10 million votes. How did Romney lose lowa and New Hampshire? Is that due to the Hispanic vote? Doubt it

wtf, talk about not knowing your history, the Nazies did commit horrible crimes…of all manner…

but they did NOT support abortion in fact they where expected to have at least 4 children and even had a medal for it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_of_Honor_of_the_German_Mother
Yeah, she was a German, but the Nazis believed in forced abortion on non German people as shown. This was already stated. Learn your history.

angelfire.com/mo/baha/nazis.html
**THE TRUTH
The Nazis certainly were not “pro-Choice”, but they were not “anti-abortion” either. The Nazis believed that a woman’s body beloned to the State, and the State would decide what to do with it. The Nazis did not allow abortion for healthy “Aryan” German women, but demanded and forced abortion upon women deemed “unAryan” (i.e. Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, etc.) and “Aryan” German women who were thought to be feeble-minded, or have hereditary diseases. (Abortion in the New Europe, p.114)**
Speak to someone respectfully, your link is useless, “cross of honor of the german mothers.”

Can you tell me what the abbreviation wt that you used means please??

Also Reverend Childress’ black genocide website.

Mr Obama blamed the attack (Which was well planned) on an anti Islam INTERNET VIDEO. He said this for at least two weeks. Reports are coming out that he refused to send in any help for the ambassador. Two former navy seals ignored his request to “Stand down”/“don’t do anything” and did their best to defend the compound. They were killed along with the Ambassador and one other man.

Silver Lining: Pro-Life Candidates for Governor Win Victories
Four pro-life candidates won election as Governor this year.
Indiana: Pro-life hero Cong. Mike Pence is the new incoming Governor replacing term-limited Mitch Daniels. He defeated former state House Speaker John Gregg by 3 points.
North Dakota: Incumbent Gov. Jack Dalrymple easily won re-election over Senate Minority Leader Ryan Taylor by 29 points.
Utah: Incumbent Gov. Gary Herbert also trounced Peter Cooke by over 40 points.
West Virginia: Incumbent Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin won by 5 points over Republican Businessman Bill Maloney in the all pro-life race.

I’ve been asking liberals for years, and there is no cogent answer. Our country wants to pretend that the debt will not eventually collapse the economy and that we can just go on spending as always.

Let’s assume we reduce the deficit to 0 tomorrow. That will not bring down the debt a single penny. That’s just us “breaking even.” Forgive me Lord, but I cannot wait until this crumbles and all the social justice people have voted for an expected goes away.

As mentioned, Greece isn’t just reducing pensions for future retirees. They are telling current and recent retirees that you will not ever receive Social Security checks. Whatever plan you had is gone.

I wonder what the reactions will be when the US government says the same thing.

Hmmm… I’m also a working and productive member of society and I voted for President Obama. Not all working productive members of society want tax breaks for rich people and service cuts to those in need.
By all means, tax the “rich”, except that includes smalll business owners who provide the majority of the jobs in this country. And with the financial situation this country is in, service cuts will be made to many people ala Greece. I do wish more people had the vaguest idea of how economics work.

  1. Services ARE going to be cut. or defunded. if you don;t believe that, I have nothing to say.
  2. Obama could have simply let the Bush tax cuts expire. Do nothing, and they are gone. Why are you upset about tax cuts for the wealthy via-a-vis the Republicans, again?
I agree. Sooner or later something’s gotta give. All these services do not come from a never ending cornucopia of plenty.

Why stop at what the government says you should pay? Why don’t you pay more?

👍

People like CMatt25 and Myql should send more funds to the IRS. Maybe I would have more respect for them when they want people to pay their fair share, whatever that may be.

Cnn reports Obama has reached 270 seats and has been elected.

A sad day for abortion rights, but overall universal healthcare for all.
thank you and good night, know if they could only switch to the metric system, you guys are just like Canada 🙂
Praise God! I am so glad he won and I’ll tell you why. I appreciate that he is crystal clear on where he stands. Remember that verse that says it’s better to be hot or cold than in the middle and lukewarm? I saw Romney that way. He waffled so much I could not trust him to take any sort of stand or even be telling the truth at all. I know we’re talking politicians here. Romney made millions off of disposing aborted fetus’ and was a shareholder in the company that manufactures the morning after pill. He was lying to get the Christian vote and God exacted his vengence for lying to His people.

Obama has backed off some on HHS and I think if we keep pushing we can get it back. I see him as willing to cross party lines and he doesn’t change his mind 100 times a day. I was ecstatic becuase I truly believe Romney, who takes companies and sells them to China, was dangerous to our economy.

I am grinning all day. If Romney would have won everyone would have said it’s God’s will. Now that Obama has, we must say the same, after all–you can’t have it both ways. God will bring out His will in His way and at least as a social worker I don’t have to worry about my mentally ill clients having their benefits cut. I am so relieved.

Thanks be to God.

That reminds me of my pro-Obama friend who told me he voted down every tax levy, because he found the institutions to be corrupt and didn’t want his money given to them

I can’t wait till Obama guts the VA benefits and see the look on my friends face (he’s a 30-year vet). I love my friend, but man what a complete selfish thing to do.

Goodies for me, but none for thee.

Obama has not backed off the HHS mandate, he has doubled down and Catholic hospitals, clinics and schools could close as Cardinal George has said

I’ll add my prognostications:

First, look for no compromise on taxes and the budget. Watch for sequestration and return to Clinton tax rates for everybody.

Electricity prices will go up as coal fired power plants shutdown. Watch for more brown outs and power failures as the lag time to bring natural gas fired plants on line will not cover the time gap.

Unemployment will remain unchanged and the number of full time workers will decline as employers who can will convert employees to part time with less than 30-hour workweek.

Gas prices will remain above 3.50 and increase.

Look for the real inflation rate to approach double digits as qualitative easing leads to hyperinflation.

How did he lose Virginia? I just don’t get what happened yesterday.

  1. Obama has not backed off the mandate. The suits are pending with the USSC. Where are you getting this?
  2. What makes you think he will cross party lines? He hasn’t done that at all in four years, but somehow, you believe he’s had a change of heart?
  3. Our economy is growing at record lows, and you were worried that Romney would hurt that? What part of the economy do you think Romney would have hurt, considering it is historically one of the worst ones in the country’s history?
  4. I a social worker, while I suspect you will an increase in people needing counseling, their benefits are going to be cut. Do you not read anything about what is already going on? Businesses are getting out the healthcare provision business, laying off workers, cutting them back to part-time, and the cost of Obamacare has yet to be incurred. Do you seriously believe we will be able to afford it, and not cut goods and services elsewhere. Is your plan to eliminate medicare and social security to maintain the ACA?
No offense, but I sometimes think this mindset believes that everything will just work out magically. What part of the trillion dollar deficit and 16 trillion in debt leads you believe that ANY of what you want is possible? How does that economics and math of that even work out?

All quite likely. I eagerly await.

While I want Obama to answer for his actions and lack of action with regard to Benghazi and I’m appalled at the MSM basically suppressing the story or giving him a pass, the US has a strict legal definition of treason and this doesn’t meet them.

IMO Obama has given blatantly false information to the American people regarding what happened, based on what we now know they knew that night and additionally has failed in his duty as POTUS to protect America ( as the consulate is considered American soil). I hope he answers for it and soon.

Thank you for a well thought out reply. Sounds like the Obama machine has been working overtime.

I was not a Romney fan but I feel he would have certainly been better. Nothing in the last four years or more has given me the warm and fuzzies about the next four years.
