Besides, abortion “rights” are fundamentally unfair to males. If a women is pregnant and wants to have an abortion the father has no rights to stop it. However, if she decides to keep the baby the father is on the hook financially for 18+ years. If women have a right to abortion, men should have the right to disavow all parental rights and financial liability.
I think that is the point.
Recall that something like 70% of Catholics do not believe in the Real Presence–it is likely that the same people do not think the Church is correct about abortion. If you get something like Christ in the Eucharist wrong, then anything is possible.

Seriously, I really didn’t learn about my faith until after I left it, spent several years as a hedonist, 7 years as part of a Greek Orthodox Church, a few more in a charismatic Baptist church. Then I started asking questions about this that and the other thing. Everything that didn’t sound right, I investigated for myself. My research brought me back to the Catholic Church.

I believe most pro-aborts have managed to convinced themselves that the unborn are not human beings–they know that it is human life, but they don’t think it is a human person. The left speaks a lot about personhood and they feel personhood happens at birth. Of course, it is all so much ridiculous justification to help make their conscience feel better.
Perhaps. It does seem to me that at least those on CAF who still support Obama do not deny that an unborn child is a human being. But they rationalize their vote for killing this way. First, they argue that Obama wants abortion to be “safe but rare”. No reason to believe he has or will do anything to make it “rare”. In fact, he promotes additionally funding it, and has. Second, they repeat the old mantra about the Democrat party being “for the poor”. This administration has done nothing at all for the poor; has in fact done a number of things that harmed them. Still, they claim it, and some use it as a rationalization to vote for evil.

Private family matters, off limits. Right to conscientiously object to government interference in religious matters? Don’t count on it. Irony? Yes. Very much so.
Given the percentage of Americans of all education levels, who accept abortion your statement makes sense only to those of us who oppose abortion. It is not as obvious as you think.
