If you don’t think his ethnicity is an issue in Hungary, then you’ve got some serious blinders on.
the liberals seem more concerned about his ethnicity than anyone else.
I’m more puzzled about why Soros has become some sort of devil. Do you feel the same way about the Kochs? Billionaires using their wealth in this way is hardly a new thing, but Soros has taken on aspects of the devil to the Right.
i am puzzled why you find it puzzling that conservatives don’t like where his money goes.

It’s his money, and providing he isn’t breaking any laws, he doesn’t need anyone’s permission. As it stands, it appears he leaves a perfectly readable audit trail. You may disagree with the things he chooses to fund, but providing he abides by legal and regulatory requirements, this turning him into a Satanic figure is just plain bizarre, and has the frenzied and hyperbolic aspects of a conspiracy theory.

Did I say anywhere in my post he was Satanic? I believe those are your words.

This is your pat response to anything about George Soros.Do you really believe he is so reviled because of his ethnicity? He is a disavowed Jew,He threw his own people under the bus just as his father did,I dare say he loathes the Jewish people. So save your sympathy for them don’t waste it on GS

Again, if you don’t think Soros’s ethnicity doesn’t play a part in the campaign against him in Hungary, then you’re willfully blind. And as to his activities elsewhere, again, providing he abides by the rules, I think it’s fine to criticize his views, but the level of hysteria here and other right wing sites does really trigger unease for me, and that’s where the “blame the Jew” aspect comes from, because he seems to be portrayed as some Machiavellian spider trying to rule the world. I see no right wing outrage at similar strategies used by right wing billionaires.

He’s just a guy with a lot of money who wants to spend it on the causes he feels are worthy. You can disagree with those causes, but he is neither evil nor satanic, and the level of hysteria on CAF from the social conservative camp I find very distasteful, and pretty darned uncharitable.

What difference does the attitude of Hungarians towards Jews have to do with Soros foundations funding the campaigns on DA nominees in Colorado?

He’s a guy with a lot of money who is set on ruining the economy of countries.Hungry being his latest project. If he is reviled there it’s not because he is a Jew,he eschewed his Jewish roots a long time ago. It’s his evil agenda at decimating Hungry that the citizens are concerned about and rightfully so.He is not a good person.

I wonder, do you actually believe Soros is out to ruin hungaruo economy? This is where the whole thing turns into a hysterical conspiracy theory.

Yeah I know, everything the left disagrees with is a tin foil hat conspiracy theory. Again do your homework Read up on George Soros and what he’s all about.

I’ve read some of it. He’s an opportunist, for example, selling short Deutschebank stock after Trump borrowed money from them, but heck Carl Ichan played that short-selling game too. And Trump hired him. And btw Trump also nominated Mnuchin for Treasury Secretary. He had worked for Soros.

Yep. CAF Godwin’s Law.

And, what will Mr Soros gain by destroying Hungary? The conspiracies about “want to destroy the XYZ people” folks don’t destroy simply for the fun of destruction, they do it to gain something. What is the gain?

What soros does is well beyond making campaign donations.
And a lot of what most of these billionaires do goes beyond campaign donations. I don’t hear anybody on the right wringing their hands about their own billionaire donors. But somehow George Soros is made into a Palpatine-like figure. I’m sorry, I don’t buy it. If you want to clip Soros’s wings, tell me how, and then tell me how we can extend that principle to the Koch Brothers and Robert Mercer.

Conservative billionaires aren’t funding neo nazis, the KKK, or any other false flag protest groups.

Sadism is a real thing. And for Christians Satan is real. He takes pleasure in destroying souls. Some people are bent on evil because being evil makes them happy.

I’m all for this. If you want to keep Soros’s money out of politics, you should want to keep Koch money, or Mercer money, or Mellon Scaife money out of politics just as badly. Not to mention the enormous amounts of nearly anonymous money flowing into and through the various PACs.

I could get behind all of that. But not just some of it. Either you’re all in, or you’re out.

What say you to that, Theo520, Jeanne_S?

I’d like campaigns to be driven more by small donations, as Trump’s was: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ny/trump-raised-more-dollars-small-donations/

I would prefer that only people eligible to vote for a nominee by able to donate to a campaign or even comment on it. These restrictions, esp the latter, would probably violate the Constitution, so I don’t expect to see them be put into effect.😞

But I don’t like the pacs and superpacs and people donating money to people outside of their area. More and more, it seems like we are going to Might (physical or economic) Makes Right.
