Sanders had the young people convinced that their student loans would disappear and college would be free for all.
Naturally they gave a dollar or two - it adds up. The the sad reality of such promises became clear. Most learned something, some never will.

Yea, like claiming Trump said he groped groupies in their privates, when he didn’t.
At least Gore actually said he created the internet, in a certain context.

I know what he said.
During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country’s economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.

He’s talking about taking the legislative initiative that allowed the internet to become what it is today. Let’s not forget that the internet began as the ARPANET, a government project.

When Gore was in the House of Representatives, long before the internet was something omniavailable, he sat on the House Energy and Commerce and the Science and Technology committees.

The internet pioneers Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn, who basically invented the internet, said that:
as far back as the 1970s, Congressman Gore promoted the idea of high-speed telecommunications as an engine for both economic growth and the improvement of our educational system. He was the first elected official to grasp the potential of computer communications to have a broader impact than just improving the conduct of science and scholarship . . . the Internet, as we know it today, was not deployed until 1983. When the Internet was still in the early stages of its deployment, Congressman Gore provided intellectual leadership by helping create the vision of the potential benefits of high speed computing and communication.

Wikipedia says that
Gore introduced the Supercomputer Network Study Act of 1986 [that would have been after his election to the Senate]. He also sponsored hearings on how advanced technologies might be put to use in areas like coordinating the response of government agencies to natural disasters and other crises.

So his claim is not without validity.

Al Gore didn’t claim to invent the internet any more than Elon Musk claims to have invented the electric motor.

You posted an 18-second video clip from a longer interview. You lifted a few words out of their context, which makes it appear that he’s saying something he’s not.

I posted the facts for you above. You can go with the actual facts, or you can just go with the old “Al Gore said he invented the internet” nonsense just because it suits your preconceived notions and reinforces your world view.

Do what you want. I’m sticking with reality.

No, I do. But I know what Al Gore said, I know what he meant, and he’s right.

Just for reference, I didn’t vote for Al Gore for president.

This sounds like something a teenage girl would say. I cannot believe I voted for him, twice. That is what a little charm and finesse will do for you. Back to the tribe jibe, I think perhaps it was more that we did not want to join his militant left Brave New World tribe (let’s leave foreign policy out of it shall we, spare ourselves) - throw in a little Hillary/ Russian collusion/FBI for good measure. Seriously this is what he comes up with after such an incompetent disaster for the country, his eight years in office, the divisions and culture war he left in his wake. It is sobering. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
