How does one “make up” what you term “nothing”? If I were simply being obtuse, then you would be justified in cautioning me that there is “none so blind as those who will not see”, but since my vision is corrected to 20/20…🤷
I would caution you about using the word “obtuse”…didn’t work out too well for Andy Dufrene!!!😃

Does one have to endorse a particular party platform to support the better of two candidates?
So you are voting for the candidate and not the platform, this is what he stands for is it not? How does that work? Please help me see the disconnection of the candidate from the platform. Don’t mean to be disrespectful, but this is tough to see.

:rotfl: You guys crack me up.!
Of course, you don’t know about it. Dave is a conservative Republican. You admitted to being an off-the-charts right wing nut. Thery don’t issue membership cards to your kind. 😃 😃

This is just the English Major in me (not the “fraternal correction” component):

It’s tongue-in-cheek. (Not “and”)

As in, “His tongue was firmly implanted in his cheek.”
Oh great, now my wife the English teacher is on CAF too!!! Never safe…😃

I’ve been acused of abuse of the English language in the past, why stop now…thanks!👍

Okay. But where do dog whistles come in?
Rich, I think the poster was trying to indicate that by referring to one thing the RNC (or whomever the “R” type poster was/is) is intending to imply that another, different thing is also true. Dog whistles are only heard by certain beings that are capable of picking up the signal thus the implication that there’s a certain “coded message” meant to come from the otherwise plain or seemingly simple message.

Still not quite clear to me, but if you say so…

That’s just too complicated for this anti-intellectual extremist right wing nut.:ouch:
My brain is already hurting from thinking about his too much!

Me too. As I told DavidinStLouis, “If you say so…” 🙂

What is a dog whistle and a code message?
Every word of republican utters is a racist ,bigoted comment that evidently, like only a dog can hear a dog whistle ,only Republicans can hear the racism and bigotry when republicans say such terrible things like “Obama is from Chicago”. luckily for democrats than the mainstream media to intercepts these signals and make them public.

Catholic voters who do not heed this guide cannot be called foolish. The authors of the guide had valid reasons and the ones who did not accept it had their own valid reasons.
What kind of doubletalk is that? The Catholic Church is ANTI ABORTION PERIOD! Are you opposed to Pope John Paul II encyclical as well about what to do when conflicted in the voting booth in regards to abortion?

My question to you is WHY do you want to support a candidate that you know puts no restrictions on abortion and is accepting of “partial birth abortion”. Stop spinning such a serious matter as the killing of the unborn.

Still in the dark. Maybe we ought to go on to something else. 🙂 🙂

And I was merely abiding by and quoting you Deacon! :bigyikes: 😛 I might have committed the unforgivable sin though of not putting quotation marks around your words. But oh well making certain everyone uses perfect English on an internet forum is not really all that important to me in the scheme of things when I’m on my knees.
