Obama won’t attend 150th anniversary commemoration of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in Pa

To me this is a non-issue. There are many, many more important issues and reasons to criticize Obama.

I agree there are more important issues on which to criticize Obama, I just don’t see that there is a group here that he would want to snub. I mean, if it were a ceremony honoring John Boehner, I can understand if he wanted to snub Boehner because the two are not buddies. But I just don’t see which group he would want to snub in this case.
 
He and his family will be participating in Kennedy remembrances on the 20th (where he will be making a speech.) He may have another event scheduled for the 19th related to that as well. And he will need to have time to write his speech. There are only so many hours in a day…
 
Heh; I didn’t even use the story to bash him; I actually did the opposite, in saying I didn’t think it was an issue.

Don’t you appreciate honesty? I could just have easily said that the fact that Obama didn’t attend means that he has no respect for American history, or he hates Lincoln, or any other number of things. Did I? No; I stated, honestly, that this is a non-issue.

The purpose of my disclaimer was to make it clear to the posters in the thread that I, even though holding this opinion and intentionally NOT bashing Obama over this, still think he is a horrible president because of the innumerable other calamities he has perpetuated against the American people.

Given the Left’s obsession with race I suspect many of them wonder also.

Exactly - I don’t think there are any more veterans of Gettysburg or even descendants that would care if Obama shows up or not. So to me its a non-issue, probably because some wish to criticize him for anything and everything. But I think that takes away from the more important issues and legitimate criticisms.

Haha, this shouldn’t be surprising but it is. This is about the least important thing I can think about.

I’m wondering if Obama did show up if people here would praise him. I’d imagine he’d be accused of showboating or using a solemn event for his own gain or some other nonsense.

I think maybe we are being a little blind to our history. This has **nothing **to do with what kind of president Obama is. It has **everything **to do with the president of this nation acknowledging that **there would be no nation **without the Battle of Gettysburg and the men who lost their lives there. Yes, I understand it was long ago. No, I am not a relative of a Civil War veteran–heck, my family was still in Italy back then. But those veterans deserve our respect. Lincoln understood this. Why don’t we? 🤷

Obama is destroying the American economy. He’s clearing the state for gay “marriage”. He has already dealt what appears to be the killing blow to cheap, efficient, high-quality healthcare.

And we’re here wrangling over the reasons why he didn’t attend a commemoration?!

I am not sure we ever had a chance at such an animal. I mean unless we are willing to eliminate all medical licensing to remove barriers to entry and allow unlimited immigration of medical personnel, health care will never be cheap. There are too many people with an interest in it being expensive.

If Obama really admires Lincoln as much as he would have us believe, he should want to pay homage to his greatest speech and the central point of his presidency. But, it’s all about politics with Obama.
We would not have a United States as we know it if not for President Lincoln and for all the men who fought to keep it together. Maybe Lincoln’s all out fight to hold our nation together is something foreign to the current commander in chief.
 
Reagan didnt go to the 125th, Kennedy didnt go to the 100th. this is a non-issue
