The Public Religion Institute poll on Catholics and the HHS mandate is not credible - it was sponsored by Planned Parenthood.

I agree with Michael Voris wholeheartedly on the bad wording in the Faithful Citizenship document, and with the purification of the Church that is needed.
 
Even if the poll is innaccurate, it is still fact that a large portion of American Catholics are nominalā€“they do not follow some key Catholic teachings, which is a result of a lack of proper educationā€“so Vorisā€™s point still retains legitimacy.

While all polls should be taken with a grain of salt (or, in some cases, a spoonful) due to the spin that goes into the wording of questions, there is an underlying truth that is more opportunity than obstacle.

The opportunity is this: the minds that need to be changed to have an impact are Catholic minds! The bishops donā€™t need to convince Protestants or secularists. They need to convince the Catholics in their own pews.

The prospect of jail will motivate them to do so.

The use of O + apostrophe in a name (Oā€™Shea, Oā€™Hara) signifies an Irish name.

The name Obama has no apostrophe, and the second letter is not capitalized.

I was going to say something else, but I will self-edit.

Rasmussen poll today stated that 59% of RCā€™s disapprove of the Presidentā€™s job-among likely voters.

Not quite. Bush #1 received onlly 47% of the Catholic vote. Here is the list since 1952:

1952 Eisenhower / Republican / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 52%

1956 Eisenhower / Republican / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 46%

1960 Kennedy / Democratic / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 82%

1964 Johnson / Democratic / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 79%

1968 Nixon / Republican/ Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 37%

1972 Nixon & Ford / Republican/ Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 59%

1976 Carter / Democratic / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 57%

1980 Reagan / Republican / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 50%

1984 Reagan / Republican / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 54%

1988 Bush 1/ Republican / Catholics vote for winner in percentage: 47%

The strong point to make is that it is proved by history that it is very difficult to win the Presidency without at least 50% of the Catholic vote. Of the fifteen elections listed, only three winers had less than 50% of the Catholic vote, and one of them (Nixon) would go on to a second term with large help of the Catholic vote.
