That’s what I meant - you do not have to if you believe that the power of God is greater. You need to focus on the basic because anything else can be superfluous and in fact can distract you from focusing on what that really drives Satan away.I would want to do all or more than is necessary to rid myself of it.
A relative of mine had a terrible experience with ouija boards. Every time he tried to get rid of it, it appeared again within his apartment. You want to do everything you can to rid yourself of the demons.
So what drives Him away (demons by the way are lesser evil)?
First:
The person has to make that decision to reject him and to accept and acknowledge Jesus as the Savior. Sometimes we underestimate this but nothing happen without this perquisite. Rejection of him is repentance but repentance always involves conversion. So not only you reject Satan and all that he stands for, but you will also adopt a new life of accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, both of which the OP has done.
Second:
It is prayer & prayer & prayer & prayer. Of course an experienced exorcist would know exactly what to pray or for that matter, any mature Catholics who have experience in doing this to pray for deliverance.
So why do you need the unnecessary? I am not totally against them but for the reason above. In people who do not have clear understanding of what deliverance and exorcism is all about, the other things that you do would merely bring the focus somewhere else and distract from the main objective. In many cases, Satan just simply exploits this and confuses the victims resulting in lack of focus, uncertainty and faith. How about if you sprinkle salt and Satan laughs at you? And he is capable of doing that, what with his trickery and deception.
What is faith here? It is the power of God that’s greater than the Evil One. The person needs to believe this. It is not blessed salt or anything else that drives away demons or exorcising evils.
It should be the other way round, shouldn’t it be?Holy sacramentals are prayerful objects of the Church. They are ex opere operantis, or through the pious use of the user. Your prayerfulness and belief that God can rid you of evil by the use of the holy sacramentals is key.
The use of Sacramental objects is nothing and of no use if you do not believe, do not make any effort by your action to reject Satan and your acceptance of God. Then it is prayer, lots of prayer, because it is warfare – spiritual warfare. Only then sacramental articles - as symbols. In themselves alone, they are of no use. When we use them it is from our belief system which is in our hearts. Sometimes we see too much movies and thought they must be done that way. Movies emphasize drama and so unnecessarily put more importance on what is the least important.
Sorry, I disagree with you here. Without repentance and renunciation, anything you do will not last. Priests/exorcists are not magicians nor do they have power on their own. The power of God can only be harnessed if we want it. We want it by rejecting what does not belong to Him and make an effort to be truly remorseful of our past action and then the next step is to accept Him.Sure you can do deliverance prayers, but if the object itself is possessed, it may not help at all, and you don’t want to play around spiritually with a possessed item if you can just get rid of it.
Satan does have place if you want him there or not, because we are within his realm, on earth. For instance, my house has demonic manifestations that the parish priest is trying rid us of at this point in time. They came about because of spiritualist ritualists who were renting before we moved into the place. They willed that the demonic should dwell in our house. Sure, the power of God is greater, but the power of mine is not greater. Jesus, in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar is greater, which is why we are having Masses said. Sacramentals would not drive them out, nor would prayer of many prayer warriors, nor would casting out prayers by the priest.
Repentance and renunciation are the first step, but you can’t remove a living being by repentance and renunciation. Try removing a horse from your kitchen by rebuking it. You can’t. Someone has opened the door to allowing the demon into the objects, thus it will cling to it.
Without this, you may exorcise the demons at that very moment because priests are ministers of God, but there is no guarantee tehy will not return.
Sure, I agree with that as being explained but if I tell a person who is about to receive RCIA, I would tell her first what’s more important so as not to distract and confuse. This use of holy salt and burying the objects has been found to work very well in keeping the demons within the objects at bay. Exorcist priests have recommended this. Since I believe they have greater experience than I, I figured I would suggest it to her.
It is OK. I think mine is just a clarification of my thought. It is not to say that you are entirely wrong.
God bless.
