Occult Items-what should I do with them?

I found one of the links you are speaking of. I live in an area with alot of occult activity and Marcias story is far too valuable to not post it because of some links on her site. I never post it unless the topic is the occult, paganism or related topics. I support her story and will post it…I know too many people caught in this stuff that can and have been helped by her. On one link I saw some of our beliefs challenged and negated …but knowing this can help us pray for and evangelize them. We should not be afraid to take a look at what they don’t understand or believe about us. So…if I feel her story (not every link on her site) will help anyone caught in the occult…I will share it with them and you are the first to object.

You must believe God is greater. satan is a demon. That really goes without saying. If you still want to be a demon’s buddy, you are obviously going to have a very hard time getting rid of it.

Satan aka the Devil, aka Lucifer is not just a demon, he is their leader, as in angels, where have the archangels.

They are not merely symbols as prayer is not merely symbolic. There is no drama and it’s not only superstition as you seem to suppose.

So you are meaning to say that sacramentals are like charms that drive demon away?
Yes, I saw in a movie where the exorcist sprinkled holy water on a demon, it turned to ashes. However, in the other movie, holy water did not work as expected and the demon lived on with it evil work.

That is why I am not convinced that sacramentals on their own have such power.

Do you have any reference for this (it being standard)?
If you bury them, what about if someone later on find the items and take them back home not knowing that they are occult objects? What about if animals or dogs unburied them and play with them?

There is never any guarantee, except if you are granted some miracle, where Jesus himself tells you this.

Jesus says to pray. The reason why the disciples did not succeed in expelling demons is because they did not pray enough. These things, Jesus said, involved prayer. I have not heard about Jesus using blessed salt but since you mentioned about it, I will not dismissed it altogether.

It’s dangerous to think that you can just do away with all evil by saying you repent.

First:
The person has to make that decision to reject him and to accept and acknowledge Jesus as the Savior. Sometimes we underestimate this but nothing happen without this prerequisite. Rejection of him is repentance but repentance always involves conversion. So not only you reject Satan and all that he stands for, but you will also adopt a new life of accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, both of which the OP has done.

Second:
It is prayer & prayer & prayer & prayer. Of course an experienced exorcist would know exactly what to pray or for that matter, any mature Catholics who have experience in doing this to pray for deliverance.

How could you do away with the Devil if you do not reject him?

The Catholic Church teaches sacramentals (e.g. Holy water and holy salt) are not to be seen as ends in themselves but as focal points of Grace. Otherwise it is superstition. The real Power comes from Christ (John 9)

Hi Rachel Buy an exorcism medal. IT reads in latin the same poison back to the devil. The exorcist in rome uses this medal in a cross . I am not kidding i was helping a friend in the occult she did something. So i went to confession and the Priest gave me this with scapular. It is highly anointed from God. Its called SAINT BENEDICT MEDAL. You can get cheap ones for 5 cents and 15 cents online just keep looking . Order a bunch put them around the occultic items:thumbsup: I have a real anointed peace now. Please do it .

Ok, I just got off the phone with the exorcist.
He is one of only 12 officially trained and recognized exorcist priests in the US, so I’m going with his recommendation. I also let him know that there is this thread here, which he was already aware of this forum.
He said what I should do with the items I have is either a) throw them in a lake or b) bury them. He said that the books can be burnt with the rest of my garbage (I live in the middle of nowhere just outside of city limits so I burn my garbage).
I have a lake near my house (actually two), so the heavy items I’m going to toss in the lake (or I’d have to dig a large hole lol), and the rest I’ll bury. He also said that I want to make sure that where ever I bury them or whatever lake I use, that it should be somewhere that nobody will find the items.
There you go… .a clear answer.
Hopefully, this thread will help others coming out of witchcraft into the Church

Oh, one thing I did forget to reply about was that in my RCIA (I’m the only one in it), they aren’t doing any of the norms (Rite of Election etc), and I haven’t seen anything that would indicate there are any type of exorcism prayers or anything going on?
What exactly is it during RCIA that would do exorcism?

During lent the period of Purification and Enlightenment which begins the First Sunday of lent you will find on the 3rd, 4th,and 5th Sundays of lent there are what are called Scrutinies that include minor exorcisms in the ceremony. I have been our RCIA director for over 25 years anf honestly have heard it all. You may want to ask your pastor his thoughts on the scrutinies in your case. It’s kind of the same. Reiki uses a specific type of energy and guides, while regular energy healing may or may not use guides and could be just fake. I wouldn’t trust it, and would stay away from it if you’re curious about it, just to be safe.
How I found out, I don’t know… lol.
It’s like somewhere in the last 4 years since my NDE I just knew that I shouldn’t be doing that either.

I then went to some NDE web sites and again, the vast majority say the same thing…and it resonated with me about Jesus (some said the Light) did not ask them about their church affiliation, attendance, etc…it was all about Did you Love Your Fellow Human Beings? Is your being growing in Love?

If it helps a person walk with Christ it is not likely to be an item with superstitious attachment. The power comes from Christ through our association with the blessed sacramental.
Do I believe in sacramentals? Yes, I have a few.

Thank you for your patience in answering some of the posts and your perseverance in trying to discern the Truth. The Church is blessed to have someone like you, who takes the time to find the Truth in spite of opinions going back and forth. It is a good reminder to me, what fine example!

This is good to know. I buy rosaries and bibles from Thrift stores, because they are usually blessed and, therefore, Sacramentals. They’re like little ‘orphans’ that I later donate. I’ve always wondered, if I see ouiji boards, if I should buy tjem to burn, I usually toss them.

This is in regards to throwing possibly possessed items into a body of (unfrozen ) water or burying them. I have heard of running water also recommended for disposal.

This question is looking towards the future, sort of like what happens to depleted uranium? Indian burial grounds, former residences where evil never left, etc.

Will someone in the future who inhabits an area where these objects were thrown be harassed by a possibly recalcitrant demon(s) who inhabited the thrown out object and refused to leave?

Should the ground or area these objects are thrown in be exorcised or blessed to reduce the chances of any future problems with those ‘unwelcome’ demons?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, (I practice a lot).

This is the problem, it is not the medal or the water or the scapular, it is the blessing of Christ through His priest that holds the, for lack of a better word, “power.” It’s our faith in Him that gives this sacramental its place, not the medal.

I had a pod cast from Catholic Answers Live Radio about six months ago that explained it the best way I had ever heard it put. The talk was on the “brown scapulas”. A person is consecrated to the scapular and if you are truly consecrated to its true meaning when you die you will see heaven. But it not the scapular, it is faith in what the sacramental represents, forget the item and see the meaning, it’s Jesus Christ!!!

With true faith in Him we will all see heaven because we will lead a righteous life. If we do not, we won’t; doesn’t matter what sacramental you have in your pocket or around your neck.

I believe in sacramentals, but not for the item.

Just a side note, when I was talking with the exorcist, he mentioned that the same thing (lakes and burying) can be done with old rosaries and Sacramentals too.
