I keep seeing statements like “Mormons believe in Jesus, therefore they are Christians”. But *what *they believe about Him does not fit within the normal definition of Christian. This is my understanding: Mormons are henotheistic, not monotheistic. They worship one God (the Father) but do not agree He is the only God. They believe that Jesus is Divine… that He is “a” god. I’ve heard that Mormons believe that while He was on earth He was progressing to His godhood (as they believe they themselves can— well, not the women, only men). This belief is flatly refuted in Heb 13:8-Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever. They use the same word “begotton” of the Father, but it does not mean “eternally begotton of the Father” in the way that it is understood by Christians.

Just because Mormons or anyone else believe in Jesus as “a” god, does not make them Christian. More info here.

The garments are like underwear, The garment is worn as part of a special ceremony called the temple endowment. The garment is worn at all times (day and night) by members as a constant reminder of the promises they have made to God in the Temple.

Hope that explains it…
God bless
I have seen a friend of mine in her Mormon undergarments when we were getting ready for a dinner. The garment had a **faint **white Masonic symbol on it that was very clear.
I think she could get in trouble for letting me see her like this, but I don’t know.

I get very slightly itchy when we resort to knocking denominations and sects which are so different to our own Catholic and mainline Protestant Communties.

No doubt there are no bad intentions. But, I do feel that we are in danger of 'ganging up against alienating ostracising and denying the dignity of Mormons and their right to be different.

Long live diversty

It is wise to be cautious. There is no intolerance in what I posted, I assure you. I should have added that half of my family belongs to the LDS church and I have known many, many Mormons. In general, they are great people, very caring and dedicated to their spiritual life. But it would be uncharitable of me not to point out that Mormons are not Christians, except by their own definitions. Christians do not believe in a “plurality of Gods” as Joseph Smith put it.

As you are aware, we are obliged to correct those in error. Many Mormons are decieved by their own leadership and they are not aware of the history of their church or some of the teachings. It is up to us who know such things to at least tell them about it. If they don’t listen to us, I will respect their right to be different as you say. But I will continue to pray for their conversion.

Your friend wont get in trouble…she would get into trouble if she did something to them( the garments) on purpose like throwing them in the trash without taking the markings off…

Peace be with you

As a Mormon, I’ve seen charts like that often, but never produced by Mormons–only by people who want to misrepresent Mormon teachings. It has so many problems --like referring to a “planet” called “Kolob” as the residence of God. The word appears 5 times in LDS scripture and it’s described as a star near the throne of God. I’d like to know what the deal is with the line going from Mary to Beelzebub. The most surprising thing about that chart is that non-Mormons actually believe it represents Mormon theology. That’s just sad.

Alma
Alma I will be praying for you. I for one agree with others here that Mormons have very very flawed theology… Lord Have Mercy…

You are focusing on the wrong thing. The thing that you need to focus on is that the LDS Church is true. It is led by the Lord, by revelation, by real prophets and Apostles today, as it was in the early days. The Book of Mormon is true. It is a revelation from the Lord; and a book of scripture like the Bible. The early Christian church did apostatize, and God has now restored His true Church on earth as prophesied in the Bible. Joseph Smith was a great prophet, and an instrument in the hand of the Lord through whom that restoration took place. These are the things that you need to focus on—not on spooky ghosts!

Nope the Mormon Church IS NOT TRUE!!!😦 :tsktsk:
