For all those comparing OWS to the Tea Party protests I can’t understand how you cannot see the difference. Are the words lawful assembly too difficult for you to comprehend? 🤷

OAKLAND, Calif. - A day of demonstrations in Oakland that began as a significant step toward expanding the political and economic influence of the Occupy Wall Street movement, ended with police in riot gear arresting dozens of protesters who had marched through downtown to break into a vacant building, shattering windows, spraying graffiti and setting fires along the way.

“We go from having a peaceful movement to now just chaos,” said protester Monique Agnew, 40

Given the complete lack of respect for authority and property that these hippies have shown, i’m surprised it hasn’t already happened.

It has happened several times, its just a matter of degree.

This is the first i’ve heard of rioting.
Rioting, maybe, but there has been many reports of HORRIBLE civil behavior. Like rapes, robberys, beatings as well as cruelty like interrogating and rooting out homeless and purposfully blocking popular eateries of the Wall Street crowd.

The only comparison between the two groups, Tea Party and OWS is that in both groups, extremist will attempt to take over.

In both groups, moderates have a clear and understandable message. However, the extremists in both movements will tarnish whatever level headed message is promoted.

In the Tea Party, we saw levels of Fascism, in the OWS we’re seeing anarchist and communist vying for control. Also, union leaders have attempted to take control, but I think they’re backing off as they see the potential violence that will come about from the extremists.

It’s why I warn Catholics about wrapping themselves around either of the groups flags.

If either of the groups continue to grow, you can bet that the Catholic Church will become a target.

Then you haven’t been paying attention. The violence, destruction of property, thuggery, theft, graffitti, attacks on police have all been going on since the beginning. Its only now the MSM is covering these acts to any degree.

Fascism? I think you have your groups mixed up.

Yeah, just like the Civil Rights movement.

Actually the Civil Rights movement had communist who tried to use the movement for their own cause.

Luckily, Martin Luther King kept the movement away from the communists agenda.

A group calling itself ‘Occupy Vancouver’ in Vancouver, British Columbia, attempted to ‘occupy’ the Catholic Cathedral there. Thank God, the Archbishop, Michael Miller (perhaps his patron Saint whispered something in his ear?), got wind of it and called the police, which took care of the situation.

There’s also rumors of an ‘Occupy the Vatican’…so the Church has already become a target.

I’ve already said it here and a couple other online blogs / forums: this movement should have been nipped in the bud, from the very beginning.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t, and now there’s chaos.

Are there any ‘real leaders’ out there who can stop this? Or do we have just craven politicians who are afraid to bring the hammer down?

I’m not talking about Fascism, Communism, or anything like that. What I’m saying is that we have no leaders today who have spine! There are none who will bring any civilized order to our streets, so that ordinary people who are trying to work and provide for themselves and their families can do so.

The ‘Occupy Wall Street’ crowd prevents non-protesters from actually MAKING A LIVING and going on with their lives!

OWS has more extremist involved with the protest than the Tea Party, which had better organization.

Both groups in my opinion, have the potential for evil that will cause more harm than good.

No I don’t.

Not to divert the thread, but do you have any proof of this (that doesn’t consist of an op-ed)?

I went to several local and national rallies, and didn’t see even a hint of such.

What I want to know is when our law enforcers are going to get rid of them and restore peace again. That’s what I want to know.

No, just opinions that were written and reports of what groups show up at these events.

The Tea Party rallies, in the begining, varied across the nation. It wasn’t until the negative reports came out that the organizers took better control.

The OWS doesn’t have close to that sort of organization, so the anarchists and thugs have had free reign.

In Boston, the leaders of the OWS have been working with police to arrest the thugs and those who are committing crimes.

Can’t say the same for Oakland.
