“The government wiretapped the phone of President Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, during and after the 2016 presidential campaign”

For all the liberals who were concerned about the President saying his campaign was WIRE TAPPED, this story HAS THE WORDS “WIRE TAPPED” just to appease your sense of justification.

Your comments are welcome. (Actually they aren’t, but an acknowledgement that President Trump was correct will be).

Maybe Ridgerunner was wrong when he interpreted Trump’s tweets to be something different or maybe wiretapping a former campaign manager who had illegal dealings with Russia is an altogether beast. Hopefully, those that speak Trump tweets can help!

I’m really not surprised. But nothing is going to be done about bad behavior or illegal actions, it seems…

Manafort was surveilled, and, it appears, for very good reason. Trump’s hiring him does not give him immunity.

And the reason is…what? Team Obama was keeping tabs for Clinton…and it was the least the former president could do since he didn’t think she was really a great candidate and didn’t like the Clintons to begin with and didn’t want to be associated with her publicly?

Perhaps in your fantasy world, but not in reality. He had been of interest to the FBI since 2014.

So a politician from one party scratching the back of another from the same party in a secret way they are pretty sure they can get away with is detached from reality?

Maybe the FBI connection gave them the perfect cover for something nefarious?

This is exactly right. (Had to get 16 characters n there for the new CAF)

They’ve had 3 years to indict Manafort with something yet they haven’t done so. They finally raided his home with a search warrant last month. Now put up or shut up.

What I suspect is they’re finding he did Russia business, but they can’t tie it to the election. But that is just an opinion on my part, not even a theory. We’ll just have to see, but the longer we wait for an indictment, the more it may be there isn’t enough there.

Let’s get back to Trump being right… You think this is ok??? Because?

And the reason you tap United States citizen??? no foreign government involved… just suspicion that he might have worked for Russia? Ukraine?? Don’t you see how the bounds have been over stepped??? Were “they” tapping a foreigner?

There could be any number of reasons they didn’t charge Manafort earlier. The most likely one is that there were other potential targets, and leaving him legally unmolested meant investigators could continue looking into his associates.

It’s rather like why the FBI may not instantly pounce on a capo in the Mafia, even with evidence of serious indictable crimes; because they may be hoping for a bigger haul, or even bigger fish.

At any rate, it’s a lot of speculation right now. My hunch is that whatever the reasons for not charging Manafort earlier, both he and Flynn are in legal jeopardy, and when investigators are looking at a bigger fish, that’s when the indictments will appear. And before you complain, that’s how a great many criminal investigations, particularly where criminal conspiracy is involved, end up being pursued. You make some of the conspirators sing in return for reduced sentences.

If Trump is Manafort, then Trump was right.

I think this is OK because to execute such a process the government must go to court and show probable cause.
This happens routinely. It does not happen routinely for Presidential campaign mangers, but then again, notwithstanding all of the character assassinations during the contest, most candidates don’t hire such shady characters to lead their campaigns.

And it’s more than a little funny that Trump supporters are celebrating the revelation that Trump hired a truly shady character to run his campaign.

You are judging character of campaign managers because??? You know Paul Manaforte? I don’t. He’s just a guy like John Podesta. A political hack…

Also, did “they” go through proper channels to have wire tapping done??? You sure?

I am not judging his character; I am characterizing it in light of the facts we have before us.

Are you suggesting that they did not?
Do you have any basis for making such an allegation?
