First, we are Fallen, so our emotions are not in harmony with all goodness.
Secondly, morally speaking, no one is claiming that animal death is good or bad, just neutral … from a cosmic perspective, animal death is naturally good.
Agreed, the emotions of the children of the wrath are not in harmony with all goodness because of the Fall.
My point is about the morality of fallen humans
enjoying the spectacle of animals fighting to death – watching pit bulls fight to the death with bulls, watching dogs fight to the death with other dogs, watching bears and bulls maul each other in a pen, etc.
If animal death was in nature before the Fall, then animal death is
intrinsically good, since God declared everything that he created before the Fall to be good. If animal death is intrinsically good, then there is nothing immoral about enjoying watching animals fight to the death as a sport. The fact that most people in our society now find these death sports morally repugnant would only indicate that their emotions are not in harmony with all goodness. The truly enlightened Christian would take delight in watching the spectacle of a dogs fighting to death with an enraged bull, since he is watching something intrinsically good!
Humans were not meant to die, but death itself is still good and beautiful taken simply in and of itself, because it exists, and all that exists is good because it is of God.
Where does scriptures teach that the bodily death of a human is “good and beautiful “? The Bible that I read says that bodily death is a punishment for sin, and that death is the enemy of God: God said, `You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’"
Gen 3:3
For the wages of sin is death …
Romans 6:23
And God said to Noah, "I have determined to make an end of all flesh; for the earth is filled with violence through them; behold, I will destroy them with the earth … I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall die.
Gen 6:13 & 17
Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death.
Whoever strikes his father or his mother shall be put to death.
Whoever steals a man, whether he sells him or is found in possession of him, shall be put to death.
Whoever curses his father or his mother shall be put to death.
Whoever lies with a beast shall be put to death.
My heart is in anguish within me,
the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
Psalm 55:4
Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol;
Death shall be their shepherd;
Psalm 45:14
Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
1 Cor 15:24-26
Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.
