Stabat Mater (Old version)

O Sanctissima

Ave Maria (Perry Como or Angelina)

Holy God We Praise Thy Name

Here I am, Lord

Amazing Grace (Almost forgot it)

Sure, I will answer the question. There are 2 of my favorite hymns.

One is, “I Will Choose Christ.” By Tom Booth. Whenever I hear that song, I admit, I will start to get tears. The song alone shows how I want to live my life. If your church has the song, play it, and meditate on the song.

The second one is, “You Are Mine,” by David Haas. God has never give up on you and, you got to believe that, God will always be there for you.

I just remembered a beautiful experience with a piece of music I hesitate to call a hymn - it’s a praise kind of song - “Refiner’s Fire.” My daughter was graduating from a wonderful Catholic high school, and at the Baccalaureate Mass, the girls sang this song, which has the lyrics, “I want to be holy, set apart for You, Lord, ready to do Your will.” I got the impression that they all really meant it, and they sang it with such love, it was just a beautiful thing. I’ve loved this song ever since.

“Refiner’s Fire” is a song from the Vineyard movement, a charismatic Protestant group. Some great music comes out of that movement.

absolute favorito: Days of Elijah

Am I right, Steubenville?
I attend a Foursquare gospel church, and I can’t stand “Days of Elijah” because it gets hammered into the ground.

But speaking of Steubenville, my absolute favorite worship song was one I heard there. Don’t know if it’s specifically Catholic or not. It’s called “Ascribe To The Lord.” Features men’s and women’s parts and when sung with meaning always means a lot to me.

My all time favorite is Behold The Lamb Of God by Bob Dufford, S.J. Very powerful and moving.

Other favorites:
You Are Mine
Christ Circle Round Us (A good alternative to O Come O Come Emmanuel)
On Eagles Wings
Panis Angelicus
Te Deum

I could go on all day. These are ones that my choir has done in the past couple of months so they are on my mind.

Isn’t “Christ Circle Round Us” the same tune as Salve Regina (simple tone)?

Choral anthems:
  1. In the year King Usiah died (can only be used once every three years).
2, How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place (Translation of part of Brahm’s German Requiem).
  2. Cicut Cervus by Palestrian.

Be thou my vision. A wonderful celtic hymn. The setting by John Rutter ranks right up there.

As a Methodist, I’ve noticed a lot of Charles Wesley hymns here.

Catholics might be interested in the Eucharistic Hymns of John and Charles Wesley.

O+

Just sing either “Amazing Grace” or “Onward Christian Soldiers” all day long.

2 old Protestant hymns from my Baptist upbringing: "Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling, " and “Just as I Am.”

O Sacred Head Surrounded
O Sanctissima
Beneath the Cross of Jesus
Bring Flowers of the Rarest
I’ll Sing a Hymn to Mary
Immaculate Mary
Ave Maria (Schubert)
Ave Maria (Bach)
Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
O Sacrament Most Holy
Jesus Remember Me
Take our Bread
