I’d say you around 5 or 6 , by the sound of it. I’m getting that kind of vibe at the moment.

Thanks, and that was slightly above average in everything in life.

I guess this means I can no longer take pride in my great humility. 🙁

😉

If I say a higher number, I will seem proud.
If I say a low number, I will seem to be trying to be humble, a false humbleness.
Then again, if I say a high number, people may think I am trying to seem proud so that they think less of me, again a false humbleness in pretending to be prideful.

Who knows?

Whaaaat!? The source and summit of our Faith is the Eucharist! I don’t know your situation, but if you can, I really, really reccomend going to Mass! It’s Lent, a wonderful time of the year to get into the good habit of meeting at least our weekly obligation of a Mass on Sundays (which can be met by certain anticipatory Mass times on Saturday evenings)! God bless

I agree fully! I have had some physical issues preventing me from going but I’m doing better now.

No that’s dogma.

I just pronounced that ex Cathedra - nevermind that my Cathedra is my bed.

OP, I think it highly unprofitable for you to be “rating” yourself in spiritual progress. You don’t seem to be remotely aware of what it means to be in a state of “utter surrender to God’s will”, which is what you said “9” means, if you think your “actual rating” must be 9+.

The very fact that you bring this topic up at all for discussion on a public forum is a demonstration of the fact that you are at an early stage in the spiritual life, like pretty much all of us, myself included.

There are many stages of spiritual growth, which can be divided in different ways: some people make the distinction between the purgative, illuminative, and unitive stages. Other times it is helpful to reference the 9 levels of prayer according to St. Teresa of Avila.

If you take the time to study the topic of spiritual stages, you will soon become aware that you are barely scratching the lowest levels of prayer. Your spiritual prowess is like that of an ant compared with the great saints.

Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways.I will now try to aspire to the same level of humility that you have reached. Cheers.

Your sarcasm is not helping your case.

I am not saying this out of bravado or a desire to demonstrate my superiority, as you seem to think.

I am alerting you to the fact that this way of thinking about the spiritual life is dangerous. It shows a lack of focus on God and an excessive focus on self. And I strongly recommend that all posters who may see this thread take this into advisement.
