You just can’t be serious…just can’t be. So you have to have ten kids to be a good person? Please, I’m never having kids, and I have free time and money to do what I want. I think that a lot of the people who call me selfish and terrible are just secretly jealous. Why else would you even concern yourself with the amount of kids that others have? You honestly think that growing up in a welfare situation is better than a financially stable one? I come from a small family, and I was pretty privileged. I’m thankful that my parents didn’t have a bunch of kids, which could have caused us to struggle. Your rude comments about Muslims aren’t even worth my time.
Your rude comments about [whatever] aren’t even worth my time.

what you define as hate others define as the hard truth…
sometimes people gotta tell it like it is…and it isn’t always easy to accept the truth because it hurts.
i think it offensive to anne to say she is spewing hate. she is attempting to give her opinion. are her words hard?? YES!! but i think it is because she is passionate about the subject, as well as outraged at the present situation.
dont write off peoples views as always meaning to be hateful
exactly…

anyone who is* passionate* about something others don’t agree with is seen as hateful…

oh freaking please…

Some Coulter quotes:

[December 14, 2003: Saddam is captured - Liberals criticize Bush anyway]

***If George W. Bush announced that a cure for cancer had been discovered, Democrats would complain about unemployed laboratory rats.

[T]he Democrats and the media are generally fighting for the same thing: the total destruction of the United States of America.***

Ive been called selfish for not having kids too. I mean if someone is so happy with their life choices, they wouldnt feel the need to scutinise what others are doing.

Why would we have an opinion about anything at all? Presumably because we think it is good and right.

I strongly disagree with the idea that we are obligated to have lots of kids. But I do question whether a married couple who choose not to have kids in order to “have free time and money to do what they want” have correct priorities or a true understanding of their calling.

My wife and I have one child at this point–she will be three in November. We plan to have another child fairly soon, but some of our conservative friends and neighbors seem to think that we’re a bit slow about it, and the fact is that we will almost certainly stop with two (one factor is that we got married relatively late–I was 29 and she was 31). So I’m not in the “you must have a big family” camp. But I think that having at least one or two children is an important part of our calling as married people, and should not be avoided without grave reason. (Obviously the case of people who can’t have children is very different.) Yes, we have less free time, and that can be very frustrating (though the joy of having Catherine in our lives more than makes up for it). But having a child if possible is one of the duties of married people. It’s one of the purposes of marriage (though not the only one and not necessary to justify marriage–childless marriages are still marriages).

I’ve never heard her say anything like this… that welfare children are 2nd class…

I’ve read several of her books…
no, she said that children of single mothers are second class, as per your example i quoted in my first comment.

actually distracted is totally right about that…its not that they’re BAD people…but…people with money just dont have kids like the middle class…my business teacher told our class, ‘dont ever worry about having to ‘reprocreate’ for the purpose of population, there will always be ignorant people to do that’ yeah…seriously he said that…and he went on that people with degrees, educations, spend more time working on those educations, have priorities, so they put off familys…then they work…especially the entrepenuer, they work so much they have little time, he says if you really wanna be rich you need to completely dedicate yourself to your business -no kids- but he says that poor, ignorant people, theyre priorites are all messed up, like, instead of waiting to get degrees’ theyre pregnant by 22…

totally sad perspective…and in my experience, just because the familys poor doesnt mean nothing…thats why it irks me when people rag on single moms and welfare…cm’on! i’m white, right, i live inbetween los gatos and sj…so on one hand i see these upper class white families, kids in soccer…ballet…dads a ceo…but these families are seriously dysfunctional!! they spend NO time together…theres no BOND…one kids on the XBOX the others doin…idk…but, then on the other hand i see a lot of middle-low class families, and its totally different…yes, they dont have the XBOX…yes, they might not have the soccer class… but they do things together… its like, back to the basics…and the bond is so much stronger…this of course is not EVERY case, you cant say that…with anything theres always exceptions i know…but…being poor is not as freggin BLEAK as everyone makes it out to be…and its like the only people i hear talking like that is people WITH money…i think they wouldnt know HOW to live if they didnt have money…

heck just last week i handwashed frekkn loads of laundry in my bathtub…hung dried em on my porch…im sure someone passing by thought ‘oh poor people…how sad they cant even afford to wash their clothes’

WATEVER!! my clothes were clean…my kid didnt think twice about it…if someone had just seen us walking down the street they’d of thought we were just like any other family…its funny how once they know the details of your financial status that your suddenly deemed ‘second class’…

In my opinion, the more unwed mothers are vilified, the better off we will be as a society. So let’s loudly proclaim it to be shameful and irresponsible behavior as we did in the past, instead of treating it with acceptance and even glorification. Unwed motherhood needs to be discouraged for the benefit of all.
Is this a serious post? Or sarcasm. I want to think sarcasm but I can’t tell.

motherhood is a big responsibility and i don’t think that everyone is meant to be a mother.
if someone is content being childless and focusing on other things in their life, i think that is fine. although, i do think these people later in life regret not having had children and someone to help them when they are elderly.
a lot of people have children for the wrong reasons and some people had bad childhoods and feel they aren’t equipped to be good parents - which is mature on their part. i am not saying that people with bad childhoods don’t make good parents either.
anyhow, i someone is content with their job and their husband and their routine and don’t want the added responsibility of parenthood, i think there is nothing wrong with that.

Although it’s not related to the OP’s post, here is one of the many, many, many things I don’t like about the condescending Ann Coulter…

i am not sure if the canadians went to viet nam, but i did think that they went to iraq - or did they just go to afghanistan. i know there were several canadians killed by friendly fire - u.s. servicemen. but i don’t remember if that happened if iraq or afghanistan.
ann coulter didn’t seem so pleased that someone was challenging her. i think she is someone who always thinks she is right.

Canada didn’t participate in Iraq or Vietnam. And Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan was only in support of the UN and only started after the US and UK led their invasion.

Thank you. I certainly dont hate children, I just dont think im meant to be a mother.Iam not maternal. It takes a special kind of person to be a parent. I accept that because i know God has created a world where it is possible to have a variety of callings.

If you are unmarried I have no disagreement with you. If you are married, I would respectfully encourage you to consider the possibility that a call to marriage normally involves a call to parenthood. My wife always thought of herself as “not maternal” as well. Since the conception of our child (who will be 3 in November) she has learned differently.

You don’t have to be the stereotypical “soccer mom” in order to be maternal. You don’t have to give up all other interests and callings in order to be maternal. Our society seems divided between the “I don’t want to let my children get in the way of my life” crowd and the “I surrender my own identity and live through my children” crowd. I think both of these are disordered approaches and both are unhealthy for children. (I am not accusing you of doing either of these things–I’m simply saying that the loudest voices you hear probably come from one of these two camps.)

I saw the title of this thread and thought for a moment, Is there anything I like about Ann Coulter? – nope couldn’t come up with anything. 🙂
She’s prolife. (Well, pro-unborn life, at least except for those unborn children so unfortunate as to be in the womb of Muslim mothers who get in the way of an American bomb.)

“I surrender my own identity and live through my children”
 thats me…lol…

i cant HELP it tho…i love her so much…shes my frekkn LIFE man i swear i’d die…

but hes totally right…before i had her i was VERY selfish and could never imagine myself waking up in the middle of the night to console a kid with nightmares…or waking up at 8 am to make breakfast…i need my sleep ya know!..now its like, she stirs in her sleep a little and i wake up instantly and watch her to see if she wakes up…its weird how NATURAL being a mom is…like an automatic switch or something…you know she needs something and SNAP your on it…without even a thought…

no one knows us better than ourselves. i definitely don’t think someone should feel pressured to have children just like i don’t think someone should feel pressured to be married by a certain age. we each control our own destinies. being a parent opens up a whole new world and you learn a lot about yourself and it can bring out the best or the worst in you. raising children is not for sissies!! LOL it is a challenge, but many feel it is their best accomplishment in life. i have a few friends who i have known since early adulthood and they chose to remain childless. they have lived their lives being able to just focus on themselves. i guess i feel like God put my son in my life for a reason and he is almost 30 now and i am a grandmother with one grandson. it has not been an easy road because i lost both of my parents when he was almost 3 and his father and i divorced when he was 6. it is a full time job that does not stop when they reach 18. so i think it does show maturity if someone admits they don’t feel like they are cut out for it, but i guess it is something you will never know unless it happens.

Hey, dads respond the same way! Maybe not quite as quickly, I admit.

Catherine nearly fell out of her stroller head-first when she was about 9 months old, and I grabbed her half way down. I never knew I had such fast reflexes:D

Ann Coulter is a hatemonger who has never been in other women’s shoes. Does she think that women get pregnant by themselves? Where’s the outrage against irresponsible men who think it is “manly” to father children but yet are nowhere to be found when the time comes to raise those babies? Ann Coulter is all about herself and her ego, hiding behind some sort of “moral” standpoint. Don’t fall for her hogwash. Peace be with you.
