Ann Coulter is an entertainer, like Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann. They make $$ saying what people already believe in a more entertaining way than those people could do themselves.

They all have their usefulness, I suppose, but I have a sneaking suspicion that none of them are really as sincere about those beliefs as they are about their paychecks.

Ive been called selfish for not having kids too. I mean if someone is so happy with their life choices, they wouldnt feel the need to scutinise what others are doing.
"He who loves his life will lose it… He who loses it for My sake will find it… " (Jesus)

we are not here on Earth to be “so happy with our life choices”

esp when those choices don’t include God and His way…

(which in a word is Jesus Christ… who told us that in order to be perfect, give up everything and follow HIm…)

Only the “perfect” get into Heaven… (Rev 21:27)

Ann Coulter is a hatemonger who has never been in other women’s shoes. Does she think that women get pregnant by themselves? Where’s the outrage against irresponsible men who think it is “manly” to father children but yet are nowhere to be found when the time comes to raise those babies? Ann Coulter is all about herself and her ego, hiding behind some sort of “moral” standpoint. Don’t fall for her hogwash. Peace be with you.
hmmm… does a hatemonger accuse others of being a hatemonger?? Just wondering…

but you do have a poiint & i have thought this myself… the part about men…

(This: Does she think that women get pregnant by themselves? Where’s the outrage against irresponsible men who think it is “manly” to father children but yet are nowhere to be found when the time comes to raise those babies?)

Still… i don’t know how you can know that Coulter is “all about her ego”

you don’t know her… only God does…

Ann Coulter’s writing is, more often than not, vitriolic. I no longer read her columns because I disagree with her presentation of material. Clearly she is in the category of writers whose popularity (and, subsequently, one assumes, her paycheck) depend on her ability to cull outrage in her readers. I doubt her writing career would last very long were she required to use a respectful writing style. Basically, she’s out there being paid for writing because what she writes can get people worked up. It’s working! 🤷

i agree.

Thank you. I certainly dont hate children, I just dont think im meant to be a mother.Iam not maternal. It takes a special kind of person to be a parent. I accept that because i know God has created a world where it is possible to have a variety of callings.
Now that you’ve decided that you don’t want any children, I hope you’re keeping your legs closed, lest you end up one of the many pregnant women who don’t want children so resort to having scissors plunged into your unborn babies head.

Then again, there’s always sterilsation.

I am a woman, but I am honest enough with myself to admit that sexually, a man will only go as far with a woman as **she **allows him to.

Believe it or not, but a chaste behaviour revolution will only be initiated by women- as they (men) will not be the ones to introduce high moral standards due to their raging hormones.

i think that was inappropriate to reply to the poster in that manner.

If you are unmarried I have no disagreement with you. If you are married, I would respectfully encourage you to consider the possibility that a call to marriage normally involves a call to parenthood. My wife always thought of herself as “not maternal” as well. Since the conception of our child (who will be 3 in November) she has learned differently.

You don’t have to be the stereotypical “soccer mom” in order to be maternal. You don’t have to give up all other interests and callings in order to be maternal. Our society seems divided between the “I don’t want to let my children get in the way of my life” crowd and the “I surrender my own identity and live through my children” crowd. I think both of these are disordered approaches and both are unhealthy for children. (I am not accusing you of doing either of these things–I’m simply saying that the loudest voices you hear probably come from one of these two camps.)

Edwin
You are right. Many are afraid of parenthood because they think they must give up their identity etc. I know many people who are mothers and did not do that and all is fine with their kids. My own mother is among that group. She is a powerhouse who has had this really strong personality for as long as I can remember. She is not a particularly maternal person either. I know once you have a child things change and it is easy to love your own child. I respect mother and fatherhood. I think the importance of fathers is often overlooked haha.
Anyway the fact that Im not maternal is one of just many, many deep reasons that I wont get into here. I think you are right to have had a child, because you seem like you are good parent material. Not many people are.

You said that ‘‘normally’’ marriage is meant for having kids. What do you think of childless marriages out of curiousity? You seem like you accept that sometimes its right. I personally think (that im non-catholic might have something to do with it) that marriages can work well without children. I know people who are very religious and loving, and perfect for each other. Yet they do not have children for many reasons and it would have been a shame I think if they didnt get married because of that. Thanks for your kind response.
God bless

You misunderstood my post. I never said I was remaining childless to maintain my happy life. I was saying that if people who have children are so happy and confident with their life path, they would be secure enough to not go after those who live differently. I personally know couples with children who dont believe im selfish or offended by my lifestyle just because its different.

no one knows us better than ourselves. i definitely don’t think someone should feel pressured to have children just like i don’t think someone should feel pressured to be married by a certain age. we each control our own destinies. being a parent opens up a whole new world and you learn a lot about yourself and it can bring out the best or the worst in you. raising children is not for sissies!! LOL it is a challenge, but many feel it is their best accomplishment in life. i have a few friends who i have known since early adulthood and they chose to remain childless. they have lived their lives being able to just focus on themselves. i guess i feel like God put my son in my life for a reason and he is almost 30 now and i am a grandmother with one grandson. it has not been an easy road because i lost both of my parents when he was almost 3 and his father and i divorced when he was 6. it is a full time job that does not stop when they reach 18. so i think it does show maturity if someone admits they don’t feel like they are cut out for it, but i guess it is something you will never know unless it happens.
You are so right that no one knows us better than ourselves, apart from God that is. It seems that many, on here and in real life, play God by implying they know better. Its just good intentions i suppose. Yeah raising children is not easy so if you can pull it off, then you ve really accomplished something. I didnt have a very long childhood myself, in the sense that family problems caused me to grow up in the way that people do when they become parents (its a long story). So I dont think im taking the easy way out by not having kids.
Im sorry to hear about having to lose parents while you were a new parent. We never stop being our parent’s babies in a way. The pain of losing one’s parents(I wouldnt know) must be terrible.
It happens sometimes that parents give up their kids after having them cause of fear of not being able to pull it off. I commend you for sticking through things.
God bless

Hey Jane,

I’m not sure how this thread changed from “One thing i don’t like about Ann Coulter…” to “One thing I don’t like about Jane Grey…”, but I just wanna add that I totally agree with your last statement.

I think marriage is about much more than just raising children, although that can be a very important aspect. Not having children to occupy your time means more time that can be spent on other equally important things (i.e. volunteering). I’ve never understood how anyone could be against a “childless marriage”… it boggles my mind that it’s even something that can be taken a stance on.

Haha thank you. I think most of the people who replied to me here have been quite kind and charitable actually. However for each kind person there are about ten who arent so understanding.

As distasteful as I find Ann Coulter, sometimes I think maybe the reason she has never married and had kids(im just speculating here) is that deep down she realises that would increase her own chances of becoming a single mother and her own views about motherhood might change.

My mother was basically a single parent. Yeah my dad still lives with us, but he never did anything to help raise my brother and myself. He was a womenizer who had multiple affairs, was emotionaly abbusive to all of us, and was a fall down drunk. My brother and I were scared him. Now tell me we were better off because we had two parents. It was because of my father that I was a major cutter (self mutilator) in my teens. I was severely depressed. If it hadn’t been for my mom I would probably have commited suicide. I wish she had been an actual single mother, I would have had a happier childhood without my father.
I don’t agree with this bashing of single mothers. Most of the time it is because the men tuck tail and leave because their not man enough to be fathers.
Ann Coulter is a vile person. She is the conservative Rosie O’Donnel.

She’s prolife. (Well, pro-unborn life, at least except for those unborn children so unfortunate as to be in the womb of Muslim mothers who get in the way of an American bomb.)

Edwin
Which is of course keeping with what Jesus taught about loving our enimees - how do you indicate sarcasm here - I am afraid that someone might not understend that

This is a huge generalization, querying, making the assumption that all men everywhere are out for sex and will push themselves on a woman. This was not true of me in my relationships with women. In some cases, it was quite the opposite. There are men out there who are not out to sex up a girl. Women have hormones, too. You paint men as mindless sex zombies who will, without any morals, go as far as they can unless the highly-moral female stops them. Hogwash. Maybe in a frat house, but never was like that in my house.🤷

it doensn’t get me worked up… not one bit. She makes me laugh… she educates me…

sorry but i think some people dislike her because - or mostly because- they lack a sense of humor… take things entirely TOO seroiusly…

i guess if i was a liberal i would possibly be getting upset w/ her… but uh…

***if a person gets that upset when someone attacks his beliefs… maybe its because they know something is wrong with their beliefs… ***

I know someone who said No to a man and he just raped her anyway…

then i know someone who said NO, got date- raped & got pregnant… fortuantately she was pro-life…

men do NOT (always) stop just because a woman says No… not freaking hardly…

i know a woman who told me that if a woman is at a man’s house, in his bed, even if she says No, if the man forces himself on her, it is not rape… and that if she gets pregannt, he shouldn’t have to pay child support???

women are women’s own worst enemies…

You said that ‘‘normally’’ marriage is meant for having kids. What do you think of childless marriages out of curiousity? ss
the only child-less marriages i believe in are the ones in which the couple cannot naturally have children - through no “doing” of their own…

people who are fertile & get married w/ no intention of having children … who plan to use artificial or natural birth control in order to NEVER have children…

are acting ammorally… un Christian…
