TORONTO, Ontario, July 4, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – All of Ontario’s publicly-funded high schools, Catholic or public, must allow homosexual clubs if students want them, Premier Dalton McGuinty insisted Friday. He also admitted that his government is aiming at changing “attitudes” on homosexuality, a process he says “should begin in the home.”

“I am proud that effective this September, high school students who want their school to have a student support group for LGBT students will have one,” said McGuinty in a statement read by Toronto Centre MPP Glen Murray at Pride Toronto’s international marshals’ reception. “This is not a matter of choice for school boards or principals. If students want it, they will have it.”

Referencing the backlash against the recent push for gay-straight alliances in the Catholic schools, McGuinty noted that homosexual “support groups” have been “controversial” in some schools. “We need to move beyond that,” he said.

The Premier also insisted his government is not satisfied with merely enshrining acceptance of homosexuality in law. “It’s one thing … to change a law, but it’s quite another to change an attitude,” he said. “Attitudes are shaped by our life experiences and our understanding of the world.”

“That should begin in the home and extend deep into our communities, including our schools,” he added.

This “Catholic” premier is TOAST in the next election.This is just another attempt by the homosexualists to normalize a perversion within a putatively Catholic Environment and contradicts Church Teachings…The Bishops WILL NOT allow this.Catholic parents will not allow this.Colour him GONE.

I don’t really understand why this can’t be used as a learning opportunity, just like any other youth club or support group. The Church does not forbid “being gay”, the Church forbids sex that is not done within marriage between a man and a woman, sex that is both unitive and procreative. Schools use other youth clubs to teach morality, or at least they should. So why can’t this support group be used the same way? They’re not lepers, they’re just gay. So, just like any other non-Sacramentally married couple, they should be chaste. So counsel them like you would any other kid. Instead of blowing this out of proportion, parents, teachers and counselers would be wise to come together and counsel these kids so that they are in communion with the Church — just like they would do with the straight kids and their support groups and clubs.

My college alma mater is a Catholic ( Jesuit ) University and it has one of those trendy Gay/Straight Alliances . This is just one of several reasons why I stopped donating to it (but I still donate to my high school alma mater that is also Jesuit ) .Imagine I or another adult went back to my college alma mater as students and wanted to start an
"Adultery/Fidelity Alliance " ( with support from student activities fees and access to campus office space , campus website & directory and a faculty advisor – a Jesuit Priest , of course ) in order to engender greater " tolerance " , awareness , compassion , community and social justice for the misunderstood and villified ( in some quarters )"adulterer community ". We’re not lepers , right , we’re simply philanderers . We believe in " monogamy without fidelity " ! Why can’t this be another teaching opportunity ?

Ya, I know , how silly is that , right ? And so are Gay/Straight Alliances in our high schools and colleges . That teaching opportunity you call for can be accomplished in religion/theology classes , philosophy classes and other Christian Living clubs . How about a marriage preparation Club ? Why not Newman Society chapters at the high school as well as the college level ?

These GSA clubs were developed by radical homosexualists to engage in the sexualization and “queering” of our children . Remember that Obama administration Safe Schools Czar who is openly homosexual , he and others in that movement admit that the " queering " of children is their goal ( and yes , "queering " is the word they use ) .
And you think these GSA’s are like the Chess Club , the Debate Team or the hckey team ? What do you think they mean by “queering” when it comes to our children ?

The homosexualists goal is not to reform the Catholic Church , but to destroy it .

Their ultimate goal is not same-sex marriage , but the destruction of any differences between the sexes at all , sexual anarchy , polymorphous perversion and the ultimate destruction of the biological/nuclear family . But they’re not lepers !

Whether the Catholic school system is publicly funded or not is not does not give the Province the right to dictate the teaching environment for Catholics. The Catholic School board has been constitutionally provided a mandate and is to provide education in a school setting that is indicative of Catholic theology, doctrine, and practices.

I don’t know where to begin because you invoke so many "Black Myths " about the Catholic Church . I suggest you read , "The New Anti-Catholicism , The Last Acceptable Prejudice " by Dr. Philip Jenkins , The Distinguished Professor of History and Religous Studies at The Pennsylvania State University ( and no , Dr. Jenkins is not himself Catholic ) .

If I claim that since it’s founding , the Catholic Church has done more good than any other institution on earth , how would you respond ?

It is a fact that the largest charitable institution on earth is the Catholic Church . How do you explain that ?

The Associated Press ran a story a few years ago that spanned 3 days editions and very few papers ran it . This story stated that children are far , far safer in a Catholic school than they are in a government run school , how do you explain this ( this story was on U.S. schools ) .

Unfortunately, time has shown that despite any effort to contrary, gay-affiliated organizations will leverage such groups advocate and advance homosexual causes. If you want to start a group on tolerance, it should not be done with a specific focus or agenda. All people are entitled to be free of bullying and personal attack.

Typical. This is what happens when the Catholic School Board accepts public money. It allows the government a foot in the door to dictate what the relative values of the day are within a Catholic school. BTW, just by electing a Tory government in October will not neccessarily by a viable option either. Just remember when John Tory was running in the last election, that that was his downfall to stop public funding to the seperate school board. Dark days ahead my friends. Dark days.

Catholic schools in Ontario are really in name only (at least in my experience). I decided to go to a public high school and I’ve felt no worse to the experience. To the contrary, it was one of the better choices I’ve made. On the other hand, people I do know who have gone Catholic schools do not seem all that better off for it. The only appreciable difference, Catholic Studies, seemed to be a joke.

In Canada Catholic education will always begin at home and end with the individual involved.

Guess I’m somewhat surprised over this when you consider almost a Million Gays, Lesbians and Transgendered converged on Young Street in Toronto on Sunday for their annual Gay Pride Day Parade (One of the Biggest Gay Pride Events in North America)

But hey; what an irony…the Toronto Mayor purposely didn’t show up to support Gay Pride Day.
Sounds hypocritical that the Toronto Mayor who has been called homophobic by many gays would institute a law that forces publicly funded Catholic Schools to condone gay clubs amongst students. :sad_yes:

Are you really a Catholic.Homosexuality is against Church teaching.Why have clubs in Catholic schools that encourage sin and disobedience to Church teaching.It is also aimed at indoctrinating Catholic Children as to the normalcy and non-sinfulness of sex outside a marriage consisting of one man and one woman.It is also forbidden to have Courage Clubs-again by government fiat.

So, just like any other non-Sacramentally married couple, they should be chaste.
