I haven’t read one post stating George Zimmerman should be lynched.
Maybe that’s because I didn’t limit who I was talking about to people on this thread. You can’t honestly tell me that there aren’t people out there who would love to see him lynched in the name of black civil rights.

I can’t believe how quickly this thread got to 1000. It should be put to rest. Let Trayvon rest in peace. There is no good in dredging up his past. Let Zemmerman live in peace.

You can’t be pro-life only as far as getting people out of the womb alive. A person who was literally doing nothing wrong was shot and killed. He was doing nothing wrong and now he’s dead! Where is the compassion that everyone has for the unborn in the case of this innocent person? At some point, you have to pick between politics and being a Christian. The GOP and Fox News do not represent the teachings of Jesus Christ.
What is with this group of “johnny come lately” posters who haven’t bothered to read the posts, haven’t followed the trial, haven’t looked at the evidence but make specious claims for which there is about ZERO evidence in support.

One of my best friends was a prosecutor who handled a VERY high profile case in this state, the murder on the capital steps of a very important public official. After the case which the State won, Sarah told me there was SO MUCH EVIDENCE that could NOT be used because of procedural rules, the particular judge and the failure of police to properly gather the evidence.

Earlier in the thread someone noted that there was also evidence in this case that could not be used. I recall watching the judge make ruling after ruling that seemed to thwart the defense and help the prosecution.

As to the usual “FOX NEWS” and the GOP as the evil twins, didn’t you also forget the Koch Brothers when targeting organizations that have absolutely no bearing on this case.

I feel like we are swatting flies but they keep coming back and buzzing around no matter how many times their argument are whacked apart

The attorney general of the United States of America, Eric Holder, has declared that the death of Trayvon Martin was unnecessary. I am sure that he knows a whole lot more about this case than anyone here.

Which white Americans are these, who have defined God differently? And how have they redefined God?
The White Americans who are racist, which is not an insignificant number (still). Their re-definition of G-d in their mind is designed to justify their prejudiced attitudes and discriminatory behaviors.

Come on, MB, that’s pretty vague. We can bicker about how small the number is now, but you know that it’s a fringe viewpoint; no Christian denomination supports racism. The best thing we can do is ignore both hate groups and race baiters, as they use tragedies like this to blame each other, when the reality is that they don’t represent anyone except for their hurtful causes.

I don’t think the Professor means denominations, Christian or otherwise, but individuals who have prejudiced attitudes, some of which they may be rather unaware of. One can be racist privately without being outspoken or advertising it, as well as rationalize one’s racist attitudes by means of moral values. She doesn’t believe this group of people is a fringe element, and neither do I. George Zimmerman, his words and his behavior, are not an anomaly.

In my opinion Eric Holder is a racist and a scandal-a-day disgrace to his office. Please don’t put stock in what he says; please consider:

His opinion on brainwashing:

His flippant disregard for a parents right to educate ones child:
cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2013/March/Americans-Warned-Homeschoolers-Stripped-of-Rights/
His failure to apply voter intimidation laws to african american groups (while lying to congress and saying he does):

and the Fast and the Furious perjuries:

This is not even the beginning of tip of the iceberg on Eric Holder’s scandals.

If these silently racist people’s feelings are not outwardly vocalized then how can you estimate their number?

By the words and reactions I hear everyday and the words and reactions I read in print. Of course, when pressured, most people will deny they are racist, as they are not members of hate groups. But there are subtle cues which abound.

I’m very sorry you sense such animus, but I stand my position that it is a fringe viewpoint. Either way, God bless, I’m off to bed. Prayers for Trayvon, his family, and for George Zimmerman.

I am extremely disappointed by this verdict. One of the things that bothers me the most about this case is that people seem to forget or to conveniently overlook that GZ was explicitly told by the real police that he was not to leave his vehicle. He stalked Trayvon from the comfort of his SUV and with the protection of his gun. Trayvon was defending himself from what he perceived to be a threat–most likely the threat of robbery. Zimmerman started the trouble and it ended with the killing of an innocent, unarmed person. And now the message has been sent that you can kill someone with impunity based on your false assumptions about their character.

I’m not at all surprised by the polls on this forum, sadly. The Catholic priest of my parents’ church said that he was appalled by this verdict. He was fighting against people who were praising the verdict.

This is a significant win against the race-baiters.

They have no truth As long as facts and evidence are the basis of our judgements rather than the typical feelings and innuendo of teh race-baiters, this is a real blow to the facial politic that are threatening to sweep politic into the very heart of Holders justice system.

The total lack of evidence on the part of the race baiters and Zimmerman haters is a real blow to that underhanded politics that now defines racism in America/

Is that the same attorney general whose fast and furious guns got a lot of innocent Mexican teens killed in a massacre in Juarez?? That Eric Holder?? foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/01/report-claims-to-have-found-57-more-guns-tied-to-operation-fast-and-furious/

Has he been shown in contempt as well?

By the way, what you just did is “appeal to authority”. “I am sure that he knows a whole lot more about this case than anyone here.” Saying, well, others know more than anywhere here, nah, nah, nah. Okay, fine, this is a message board, issues are discussed.

Wow, just wow.

Are those the White Hispanics like Zimmerman?? Or a white black like Obama?? :rotfl::rotfl:

??? what words? I hope his behavior isn’t an anomaly. I thought his advocating for the homeless black man who was beaten up by a policeman’s relative was admirable, I hope more folks are like that. His tutoring youth including blacks, I hope that isn’t an anomaly either. His willingness to help out and try make his neighborhood a better place, assisting that woman after going through the trauma of a hot prowl burglary with her children and only a pair of scissors to defend herself with.
