So, in other words, you are comfortable with making accusations about Zimmerman with no evidence and no information about what really happened.

Could you explain how it is a Christian virtue to do that?
Well it is certainly not Christian to defame a 17 year old dead teenager who is unable to speak for himself.

What accusations have I been making other than that Florida state law put a concealed gun into the hands of an amateur law enforcement personnel.
You don’t agree with the verdict of the jury, and neither do I; and, for some, that translates to accusations against George Zimmerman, race baiting, or a political anti-gun agenda on our part. I wonder if these same people agreed with the non-guilty verdict in the O.J. Simpson case, which I also disputed at the time.

Feel free to name names of the defamers. Pointing out facts or evidence is not defamation.

To start off with, you claim that he considered himself to be amateur law enforcement.

Do you have any evidence of that?

Or is your claim factual in nature, that in your view, Zimmerman was a law enforcement person, albeit an unpaid one.

So if you could clarify your statement, is accusatory or factual in nature?

The case is closed; the jury has decided. I still maintain just a few simple facts - not opinion.
Zimmerman had experience; was in his car; had his gun on him. He should not have gotten out of his car after calling 911 (if he was OUT he should have gotten back IN). The whole sorry event could have been avoided. (I hope I wasn’t expressing opinion!) May God shed His Mercy on all.
So GZ made TM violently attack him without cause? I find it troubling that we let off the hook some guy who pounces on other and beats him while he cries for help.

The evidence speaks. His actions speak. Among many telling elements is that he did not call police when he had opportunity.

Why was GZ carrying a concealed weapon? It’s probably not that he forgot he had it on him, as he contended, but that he was intent upon taking the law into his own hands; a vigilante.
Robert, by that logic
  • I have smoke detectors because I want a fire in my house
  • I have a rope ladder because I want a fire on my stairs
  • I have fire extinguishers because I want a fire to happen so I can fight it!!
  • I wear a helmet, boots, gloves, and an reinforced jacket when I ride my motorcycle because I want to crash to see how well they work
  • I have auto insurance because I want to crash
  • I have life insurance because I want to die
  • I wear protective glasses when I edge because I want damaging particles to be thrown into my eyes.
  • A petite woman carrying a firearm because she is afraid of being raped and killed wants someone to attack and try and rape and kill her.
Taking measures to mitigate or protect from catastrophic incidents is no indication you want those incidents to occur. It actually indicates you fear those indicdents, and are probably taking other measures to aviod them occurring. Just because I have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen doesn’t make me think I can leave the burner on or throw hand towels on the stove-top.

I think it goes without saying that he was never an authorized law enforcement personnel. That is my definition of an amateur.

When OJ was on trial and after was there much talk about knife violence and the role the knife played in the murder?

This whole case is about a local neighborhood would-be tough guy playing cop.
I would not be surprised to find out he was a school-yard bully. If the “suspicious person” was guy of any race around his size or bigger, the tough guy would have second thoughts. The gun was his “equalizer”, giving him power.
He saw a skinny teen-age kid he figured he could intimidate. The kid proved not be a pushover and bigger than he anticipated. As he was getting his behind wupped by the kid, the tough guy pulls out his equalizer and lets him have it.
Hardly force of equal standing.
But then bullies always turn out to be cowards underneath.

Actually Open Carry and to be able to have legal concealed weapons ( guns ) should be far easier to get… ccrime would gone down. Or… ppl like you will turn this country into chicago. 800+ murders last year and they have the most strick gun laws. Only ppl with blinders on cannot see that.
We need to stop this type of senseless violence! Carrying concealed weapons needs to be outlawed. Where are people’s Catholic virtues when we Catholics condone such senseless violence in the name of self defense? We are headed to an era of wild gunslingers.

What a load. The “bully” called the police. The wannabe gangsta could have called the cops but wanted to show what a tough guy he was.

No, because generally people don’t carry concealed knives and there is no proliferation of the number of knives in our society. But there was talk about the role that race played in the jury’s decision.

So what is the point in comparing them? The only commonality would be the same groups of people that thought OJ was innocent think GZ is guilty. That is a real shame.

It SEEMS to me that anti gun ppl ( why are they so afraid of guns ? Yeesh ) always say stuff like that about us… ‘gunslingers’. ( I don’t own a gun… just very pro gun ).
Please stop twisting the facts to fit your agenda.

Interesting interpretation of the term “innocent.”

Lisa
Sorry, I forgot, I’d asked Robert a while ago if he felt if love demanded to allow oneself to be killed vice defendings oneslelf.

I didn’t get an answer, so I quoted the catechism.

Robert,

Another way of putting it was the gun was responsible for saving Zimmermans’ life. If he hadn’t had it, he’d be dead or life altering brain damage.

Was his life not worth defending? Particularly given the evidence and testimony support his story.
