Why would TM risk life in prison unless he was threatened. Justice may very well have not been served. Perspective taking, what is the perspective of the other person, in this case, that of TM?
The answer to this is in the link I provided.

Per News Stories, I would say the biggest news story so far this year is the Boston Bomber story.

But this trial may be 2nd or at least in the top 5 news stories of this year and was a big news story in 2012.

I don’t know if it merits that attention, it probably doesn’t but this is the way the media works. I was at one forum, fairly neutral forum and people showed up big time to comment on the Casey Anthony trial. Another trial I would doubt was deserving of so much media attention.

His behavior from whose perspective? Why are you only focusing on GZ’s perspective for? Be open mined and see that there is more than one perspective.
I can think and come to conclusions on my own and I happen to agree with Zimmerman. If Martin’s behavior was as described, Martin’s behavior from my perspective was suspicious. I would find it suspicious that an unknown person would be walking slowly and aimlessly in the dark, in the rain, walking in yards and looking into windows when burglaries had occurred in the recent past.

Yes, but that’s why it’s important to provide both perspectives. That’s my point.
It’s a shame to see Catholics buy into the “all perspectives are equally important, valuable, and correct” feel-good all-inclusive nonsense. It really is a call to abandon critical thinking skills and just champion whatever cause you feel like identifying with.

Cider I know I know…shoot me I should just give up even responding. BTW I think years ago we had a longer thread…seems like about 1900 posts but probably before the policy of cutting off at 1000

murder suicide? I should quit posting too. It’s kind of amusing though, it’s like trying to argue with a five year old with their fantasy based reality questions.

Still, sometimes one may have reasons to not want someone to know where they live, some reasons might not be favorable, say if Zimmerman saw Martin smoking or something, some reasons might make sense, Martin could fear for the wellbeing of his family if Zimmerman as a complete stranger knew where he lived. Most likely, Martin should have gone home but we don’t know if it’s a possibility that Zimmerman had his gun already drawn in following Martin, we simply don’t know and rely on Zimmerman’s word in the narrative.
Think about it.

If Zimmerman already had his gun drawn, they are both really stupid.

Zimmerman because once you draw your weapon, you use it. Otherwise you risk someone using it against you. And when he got knocked to the ground he could have, and most likely would have, dropped it.

Martin because if he saw the guy had a gun, he certainly shouldn’t confronted him, even if he wanted to ask Zimmerman a question. If you see a gun, duck, run, something. Heck, who would be stupid enough to pick a fight with someone that had a gun drawn???

Excellent point. As Catholics aren’t we supposed to be speaking truth instead of engaging in relativist thinking.

TM confronted GZ because he wanted to ask him a question. If GZ was not following TM, why was TM’s body found some 53 yards from GZ’s truck?
It has been established that GZ was going back to his truck and that TM was by that time following him to confront him.

The way Martin was dressed was not the issue, at least not to me. It was his behavior that was the issue.
exactly. According to the neighborhood watch manual I have already linked, his behavior, the fact he didn’t recognise him were criteria to call, which he did.

I know this case fairly well, now Zimmerman states Martin said “Do you have a problem” as in part of this confrontation but some of the way the story has been told could have one see Martin is behind Zimmerman when according to Zimmerman’s testimony, he is sucker punched, after all, Zimmerman is going back to his truck in his version which would mean he could have his back to Trayvon Martin.

So, your bringing the word “stupid” in may not be fully cognizant of all facts in this situation.

This question is now deleted at Yahoo, yet still shows up in a bing search:
Code:
** Do you think Zimmerman was behind Martin when Martin started beating him, or did Martin come up behind him?
while Zimmerman was walking back to his vehicle, like he said he was when he was attacked by Martin? Zimmerman said he lost sight of Trayvon Martin, so he was headed back to his vehicle when Martin…**
Also, your reasoning would seem to say no one has ever been followed with a gun drawn because or unless the owner should only have it drawn if he plans to use it.

Perspective taking, what’s TM likely perspective? Your assumptions are biased in favor of GZ. …
My “assumptions” are based on the evidence at trial, witness statements, things that can be known and supported with the evidence and facts.
…Why not be fair and just, and take TM’s likely perspective instead of just the perspective of GZ?
Do you not see that you are the one making assumptions? Since the dead do no talking, you are the one making assumptions. You are assuming you know what Martin thought, felt, did, what he would have done.

Who said anything about either perspective being correct? All I’m looking for is an unbiased presentation of both plausible perspectives.

Sigh. People really do want to string someone up regardless of the facts. How do you account for the police testifying at trial that they found Zimmerman’s account credible and consistent across multiple questioning sessions? Do you realize how police never say that? Have you ever faced hostile questioning regarding a traumatic event? Very few people can get through that and still have police say they actually believed what a suspect had said.

A shame. You should have consulted with the prosecution to assure a conviction. It’s almost as if the facts aren’t on your side.
Would a guilty person be excited when the police told them that the encounter had been caught on video? No.

Of course they just told him that to see what he’s say.

super late to thsi thread but my:twocents: on this case.

very quickly I think the jury found him not guilty not because of the evidence pointed to self defense (there is no evidence to who started this fight)

rather there wasn’t enough evidence for manslaughter or murder in the 2nd. The Jury had many reasonable doubts, for example if zimmerman murdered martin why did he have injuries and Martin only had a Gun shot wound. Why would the aggressor be on the bottom? The main prosecutions case is that Zimmerman stalked and hunted down martin, but Martin had plenty of time to get to his house but still confronted him 70 yards from his house.

ok got to go.

Actually the dead do talk though forensic evidence. Which supported Zimmerman’s account. They are ignoring TM’s account already.
