The real crime was committed by the State of Florida in allowing a concealed weapon to be placed on an amateur law enforcement personnel. GZ was clearly acting as a vigilante. Neighborhood watch personnel ought not to be allowed to profile and follow “suspects!” The sole purpose of neighborhood watch ought to only be allowed to report “suspicious” activity to properly trained law enforcement.

Exactly. I don’t think GZ ever got over the fact he was rejected by the police force.

And yet you advocated for convicting him when he obeyed the laws you admit are what you actually have an issue with?

You are saying the problem is the law in Florida, but we dont’t convict people of murder because you believe the law to a poor one. Change the law, then convict people who break it.

The whole incident was a media contrivance that many people fell for.

Do you have just as strong a reaction for Roderick Scott, the black man who did a similar thing, and was also acquitted? Both cases of clear cut self defense, and both exonerated under the law.

eaglerising.com/838/roderick-scott-the-black-george-zimmerman/

Where is the fomenting media and angst over a black man shotting an unarmed white teenager who rushed at him?

In both cases, the law was color-blind, even if the media and those who pick and choose what they want to hear are not.

Re-read my post and you’ll see that my main point is that Florida state law was responsible for placing a concealed weapon on GZ!

Looks like the Nation did print Zimmerman was trolling his ex-fiance per the Miami Herald, looks like this was involved in the domestic violence accusations. Maybe it could have been stated better but all the same, doesn’t exactly fall into “making things up.”

I don’t like the Nation as a source but they published this too:

I wouldn’t connect the dots like the Nation does but not positive it is totally false.
It is amazing that with one post you will ask for evidence that Zimmerman was confronted and in this post you accept without evidence that he was trolling for his ex-girl friend.

That’s how it works when you have an agenda.

:rotfl: oh my…reading over and over your “alternative scenarios” none of which have any basis in facts or evidence or testimony, now it’s down to Zimmerman shot Martin to get the same thrill as being a police officer?

As I’ve said I have a number family members who are in law enforcement. None have had to fire a weapon in the line of duty. Believe it or not, people get into law enforcement to KEEP THE PEACE not stir up trouble, shoot bad guys or get off on a power trip. As to Zimmerman’s inability to get on the force, it had to do with some kind of credit issue, not any personality defect or concern that he was a violent or aggressive person.

Since you won’t answer any challenges to your IMO rather wild assertions at least riddle me this, who would YOU prefer as a neighbor, Zimmerman or Martin? If your car broke down on a dark rainy night would you rather see Martin or Zimmerman with an offer to help.

You can’t seem to get over the reality that Zimmerman had a gun and used it when his life was in danger (not beforehand). It’s all about the guns and Zimmerman’s frustrations right.

These are all assumptions on your part. Why can’t you see that there is likely another perspective to the statements made by GZ?

I would choose Martin!

Because there is NO EVIDENCE SUPPORTING THEM.

You can make up “alternative scenarios” all you want. But when you cannot connect yours and the others’ completely illusory theories with ANY credible evidence, then the theory remains simply the product of someone’s imagination or preconceived notion.

As has been stated repeatedly although to no effect with several posters, although the evidence isn’t perfect (and anyone in law enforcement knows this NEVER happens anyway) what evidence that is available comports with Zimmerman’s rendition of the series of events. It does not comport with “another perspective” which seems to consist of Zimmerman is guilty because Martin is dead. Thus we must massage or ignore the evidence because it doesn’t support our theory.

Further as several posters have said repeatedly, again to no effect on those who simply cannot accept a guy with a gun may be telling the truth, Zimmerman’s interviews, testimony, depositions had few inconsistencies and none worth noting. In fact the investigating officer said he was amazed there were not more inconsistencies given the trauma of the night.

You might think that Zimmerman is some cold blooded trigger puller without feelings but I assure you that he was mentally and emotionally traumatized. That he was willing to immediately cooperate, did not demand an attorney, agreed to help stage a re-enactment, all indicates he was being truthful in his description of the series of events.

I don’t know if you have ever been the subject of a violent crime but I assure you that your brain freezes. My dearest friend was robbed at gunpoint as she tried to enter her hotel room in a “nice” area in Oklahoma City. Fortunately he took her purse and left the scene but when she was questioned by police she could barely talk and had blocked out many of the details regarding the robber. I looked out of my bedroom window having heard a sound outside and saw a man with a ski mask peering through the window. I froze, afraid to move. When the police questioned me, all I could remember were those eye holes in the ski mask. Couldn’t remember how tall, what color the mask was…virtually nothing. That Zimmerman could relate details that were later corroborated with evidence, is truly amazing and much as you and other pooh pooh his Neighborhood Watch duties, it’s clear he had the inner strength and ability to focus on helping the police with the investigation.

Again, it’s all about the gun. Guy with gun…guilty! Facts do not matter to someone who is strangled by ideology.

Well it’s a fact that there is another side of the story buried with TM.

Again, all we have is GZ’s statements, and no evidence what happened in the 4 minutes of dead time between the time GZ ends his call with the dispatcher and time the police arrived. We don’t have the alternative perspective because TM was shoot dead. What you call facts is really your own conjecture.

It’s not all about the gun to me. I agree Zimmerman wasn’t the right person to have one given his violent tendencies but the law allows plea deals even on assault to police officers.

I have nothing against Neighborhood Watch either. Just don’t believe it necessitates
citizens doing police work and a man ending up dead. Won’t happen again most likely.
