I was always against steroid use. But I had been lifting weights since I was in grade school. I had some result but very little. Most my results were in strength (for my size) and in body tone but very little muscle mass. But this was also in part from neglecting my back and legs. Now that would be crazy! I wonder how that would effect the ageing process. I understand what youre saying about the probability of greatly losing your gains, but the immediate strength and aestetic results of taking roids sounds great! If it was legal i would def consider it.
At some point in the military I became open to steroid use. Kind of like an overweight person that has struggled for years with trying to lose weight. You notice all the products on the market for that and even surgeries legal to make cosmetic changes to the overweight person. But I was of a thin frame and had the opposite problem. I was what one terms a “hard gainer.”
Supposedly, those with more middle sized frames have the best of both worlds. They don’t need to worry about getting “fat” when they eat and they can can decent muscle mass at a decent rate when lifting weights and on the right diet.
I view steroids kind of like technology and technological upgrade in the workforce. Technological upgrades are supposed to improve worker productivity. This is one significant factor in the gap between the developed and developing nations of the world in worker productivity and consequently Gross National Income and per capita income.
One can work hard or one can work more efficiently. It’s one reason I have a cellular phone and I’m not adverse to using email. Though, there are probably many impoverished Brazilians living in the Amazon that have neither. They don’t complete high school or go to college either.
So, steroids is Harvard University and Napalm.
I know little to nothing about the power-lifting world. But quick lurking on some muscle forums led me to read more than once about the “Westside Method” vs some Russian method called Sheiko I think. Anyways… I go the impression Westside Barbell in Ohio is supposed to be probably the top power-lifting gym in the United States.
And guess what I found looking at their website? The guy interviewed on Bigger, Stronger, Faster. More interesting was reading his bio.
