There are a lot of people who were abused during their childhoods by relatives who unfortunately used organized religion to rationalize that their abuse was OK. It is hardly surprising that there are people out there who are very confused about where to find revealed truth. One has to hope they will find it while at the same time appreciating the reality of the barriers that could be in their way. They didn’t put them there. What is the SHOCKING truth is that they will listen to her, BUT NOT to God.
They have not even the slightest idea, the hole they are digging themselves.
May God have Mercy on her and those like her
My friend; I respectfully disagree with statement that Organized Religion was used as antidote to abuse within the family. There are a lot of people who were abused during their childhoods by relatives who unfortunately used organized religion to rationalize that their abuse was OK. I’m confused at your question. I didn’t say organized religion was used as an antidote to abuse. I said that there are people who abuse members of their family, used some religious excuse to rationalize their choice, and in the process gave their victims a wrong impression of what organized religion really teaches. For instance, there are people who use “spare the rod, spoil the child” as an excuse to physically abuse their children. The idea that Christian parents have carte blanche to seriously abuse small children and pass it off as “discipline” is a misrepresentation of Christianity. Of course a person exposed to that kind of abuse might be confused about whether Christianity is true or not, because they believe their abusive past is an example of what it is “really like.”PetraG quoted: There are a lot of people who were abused during their childhoods by relatives who unfortunately used organized religion to rationalize that their abuse was OK. Based on her own statements, she has departed from the traditional beliefs about the Trinity that have always belonged to Christian dogma, including among the Baptists (who baptised her).Regardless of what you wish to believe, Oprah is a Christian.
I know her personally, Peebo. And yes, I have spoken to her about her beliefs. And that was because I knew she would be honest. Oprah used to live here and work here. Her father, Vernon, still lives here. She worked at what is now WTVF - Channel 5 as a news reporter and honed her skills under Chris Clark who was the main anchor for many years there until his retirement.Wow…talk about a bunch of gossip mongers here on CAF…“oh I heard her say this”…“she believes that”…do ANY of you personally know her…have ANY of you personally spoke to her about her beliefs…and WHAT business is it of ANY of you what her beliefs are…do you understand that the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion for ALL…so what RIGHT do you have to question hers…better yet…what Right do you have to GOSSIP MONGER about someone you don’t know…
Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
I didn’t say that she wasn’t validly baptised. I said that she is publicly espousing theology that has departed from aspects of Christian doctrine that are so fundamental that they cannot be abandoned without abandoning Christianity.Well once baptisted in the Catholic Church the Protestant church always baptisted and a side note you can not get a rebaptism. So if you were baptized a Catholic and leave the Catholic Church to go to a Protestant church you cannot get rebaptized in the Protestant church that’s what the Church teaches. Oprah was a Baptisted Baptist all recognize as being in communion with the body of Christ. But when you are going to move to spiritualism and take God out of the equation by calling him and it. We have to speak out against such heresy.
