Her religion is changing Weight Watchers every year, right? That’s a big 👎 from me.

What is the SHOCKING truth is that they will listen to her, BUT NOT to God.

They have not even the slightest idea, the hole they are digging themselves.

May God have Mercy on her and those like her
There are a lot of people who were abused during their childhoods by relatives who unfortunately used organized religion to rationalize that their abuse was OK. It is hardly surprising that there are people out there who are very confused about where to find revealed truth. One has to hope they will find it while at the same time appreciating the reality of the barriers that could be in their way. They didn’t put them there.

Thank you, PetraG. I love my family more than anything in this world and I try hard to understand where they are coming from and various points of view. We are a large family with diverse beliefs, so keeping up is always interesting and well worth the investment. We are a tight bunch, despite our religious differences.

My friend; I respectfully disagree with statement that Organized Religion was used as antidote to abuse within the family.

Please provide evidence of this charge.

God Bless you

I’m confused at your question. I didn’t say organized religion was used as an antidote to abuse. I said that there are people who abuse members of their family, used some religious excuse to rationalize their choice, and in the process gave their victims a wrong impression of what organized religion really teaches. For instance, there are people who use “spare the rod, spoil the child” as an excuse to physically abuse their children. The idea that Christian parents have carte blanche to seriously abuse small children and pass it off as “discipline” is a misrepresentation of Christianity. Of course a person exposed to that kind of abuse might be confused about whether Christianity is true or not, because they believe their abusive past is an example of what it is “really like.”

Catholics want the world to know the Truth, which we believe is in its fullness in the Catholic Faith, trusting that our Church was established by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hence we view things like this (spiritual battles) as very important.
We want people to be virtuous.

Well, now we may have Oprah as President. Next election: Oprah vs. Trump. 😑

Omg help us we thought Hilary was bad. She will definitely fight against the Christian Church.

Regardless of what you wish to believe, Oprah is a Christian.

Well you must not listen to her own words. Just because she says she’s a Christian does that mean she’s a Christian a Christian is one who believes in a Trinity. Father son and Holy Spirit and the the Eucharist is not something it’s someone our Lord. She said God is just a feeling that is totally not what Christians believe. Saint Ignatius of Antioch in his last letter before he was executed in Rome in 107 AD said “ Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the BISHOP. The celebration of the EUCHARIST is valid only if it is administered by the BISHOP or by one to whom he has ENTRUSTED it. Where the BISHOP is, there let the people also be; just as where JESUS CHRIST is, there is the CATHOLIC CHURCH “!!

He couldn’t have said it better but people choose not to believe and still be called a Christian that’s fine. I know she has and agenda of taking as many people away from Christianity into this spiritualism. God is not just a feeling he is real all powerful God. When you start thinking God is a feeling that is dangerous for anyone’s soul. I pray for her that she my fine God and all his goodness!

God bless

Didn’t she heavily promote the book The Secret and another similar teaching?

That is the point exactly. To say someone is no longer a Christian is not the same as saying someone has forsaken all virtue. It is to say the person has publicly and conspicuously abandoned some fundamental tenet of the Christian faith. It cannot mean their baptism has been undone; that cannot happen.

For instance, when the Vatican announced the following, it was not saying Mitt Romney wasn’t a good person, didn’t put his faith in Jesus or anything of the kind. It didn’t say the Church of LDS didn’t have jurisdiction within their own community. It said only that the Universal Church didn’t recognize their baptism as a Christian baptism
Question: Whether the baptism conferred by the community “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”, called “Mormons” in the vernacular, is valid.

Response: Negative.

The Supreme Pontiff John Paul II, in the Audience granted to the undersigned Cardinal Prefect, approved the present Response, decided in the Sessione Ordinaria of this Congregation, and ordered it published.

From the Offices of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, 5 June 2001.

+ Joseph Cardinal RATZINGER

Prefect

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints doesn’t recognize our baptism as valid, either. That’s their prerogative.

I don’t know if it is fair to say that Oprah Winfrey has tried to take anyone “away” from anything. My sense is that she is in the camp that believes that one can hold fractions from several different belief systems simultaneously. Maybe you didn’t mean she was aware she was doing anything wrong, but causing great damage, all the same?

Based on her own statements, she has departed from the traditional beliefs about the Trinity that have always belonged to Christian dogma, including among the Baptists (who baptised her).

I have heard Oprah personally speak of her Christianity many times. I knew her long before she was well known to the rest of the world. I remember her working at our local news station. And I have followed her rise to fame and seen her blossom through the years. I know her beliefs very well. And she has never denied that Jesus Christ is her Lord and Savior.

You are listening to hype and videos that have been heavily edited to say what the person who posted them wanted them to say and reflect. If that is what you choose to listen to and believe, that is up to you. But if you don’t know the person the video is about, and I daresay you don’t,you can’t say with all certainty that those are Oprah’s views.

Wow…talk about a bunch of gossip mongers here on CAF…“oh I heard her say this”…“she believes that”…do ANY of you personally know her…have ANY of you personally spoke to her about her beliefs…and WHAT business is it of ANY of you what her beliefs are…do you understand that the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion for ALL…so what RIGHT do you have to question hers…better yet…what Right do you have to GOSSIP MONGER about someone you don’t know…
Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

I know her personally, Peebo. And yes, I have spoken to her about her beliefs. And that was because I knew she would be honest. Oprah used to live here and work here. Her father, Vernon, still lives here. She worked at what is now WTVF - Channel 5 as a news reporter and honed her skills under Chris Clark who was the main anchor for many years there until his retirement.

Oprah is still among the nicest people I’ve ever known. And I’m so thrilled for her success. I don’t like it when people say she’s not a Christian because she is. She was definitely raised right.

Well once baptisted in the Catholic Church the Protestant church always baptisted and a side note you can not get a rebaptism. So if you were baptized a Catholic and leave the Catholic Church to go to a Protestant church you cannot get rebaptized in the Protestant church that’s what the Church teaches. Oprah was a Baptisted Baptist all recognize as being in communion with the body of Christ. But when you are going to move to spiritualism and take God out of the equation by calling him and it. We have to speak out against such heresy.

Well I don’t care if your her best friend her words speak volumes about how she feels about the church and about God. As far as for editing I guess they edited every video that she’s ever made because I’ve watched many of her videos and she says the same thing over and over I watched her live show when it was on talks about the same thing.

As a Christian we are called to defend the Church against any heresy. In the early Church Paul would go from town to town preaching about Idoltry people changing their ways. Was he gossiping are being judgemental. He was trying to show the error of their ways and that they should come back to Christ. We must make moral judgments in this life especially when it comes to God and His church!

I didn’t say that she wasn’t validly baptised. I said that she is publicly espousing theology that has departed from aspects of Christian doctrine that are so fundamental that they cannot be abandoned without abandoning Christianity.
