Well, as the moderator says, at least consider that you may be wrong.
Sure, I’ll always consider that I might be wrong about something. But, in this case, I side with the Pope when he says that Catholics must protect life (and thus may not vote for anti-life politicians like Obama).

I think Catholic bishops last year had a more nuanced take on the election than the way you state what a Catholic must do.

Okay. But, I’ll go with the Pope’s straightforward, clear view over ā€œnuanceā€ anyway .

Following is another example of the problems that plague our Church, again in California. I’m not picking on California, I only say again because the subject post is about a priest from OC and the second one is from Escondido. And, this time, the priest is supporting the teachings of the Church and is being thwarted by his Bishop. Clearly, not all Bishops support the Church and not all Bishops are equal. The Bishop in this case is clearly wrong. But, the people got it right with a letter-writing campaign to support the priest, so that is encouraging.

Priest gives truthful sermon on current abominations:

And is quickly rebuked by his Bishop because of one complaint:

This is really very upsetting the more and more I hear about Priests, Bishops, catholics who voted for , financed, defend Obama the more upset I get!😦

It is well known that Obama’s parish congratulated him on his election. They threw a party, in fact.
Obama doesn’t have a parish and you know it. We all know that he is not Catholic. We also know that Fr. Pfleger, and many other Chicago priests are not following Rome or their own Cardinal.

The same way I live in one of the Mormon’s wards Obama happens to live in a parish. And he helped in the food pantry at a Catholic church in another parish, right after the election. It was not Father Pfleger’s, by the way.

nice try, but that spin did ot work before either.

Of the nearly 280 bishops in this country just over 100 actually spoke out…

The did not tell a Catholic who to vote for. Get that straight.

However, they did their shepherdly duty and informed Catholics whom they could NOT vote for… one who promotes pre-meditated MURDER.

He is yours and you can have him.

.

Actually, the bishops said that a Catholic may vote for someone like the president. There was no ā€˜either or’ involved. People seem to forget that in their polarized views.

And that is a lot more nuanced than stating who a Catholic ā€˜must’ vote for.

I could not agree more! I suspect most Catholics, if not most Americans, will come to truly rue the day that Obama was elected President, if they don’t already. I think we are going to be one sorry and sorrowful lot of people who used to live in a nation once known as the United States of America. My opinion only, of course, but my fears keep being realized, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that one is as well.

I’m curious why do you keep posting this nonsense? truthfully I usually just laugh at your posts because I am not sure what it is you are trying to accomplish.

Your misunderstood anti Catholic rhetoric does however tend to get just plain boring. I don’t understand why someone would keep posting just to argue, what is the purpose?

  1. This thread is not about me. You can criticize my posts all you want.
  2. If you dislike what I post, no one is holding a gun to your head – skip them.
  3. Nothing I post is in any way anti-Catholic. There are different views on many subjects within Catholicism For groupthink, there is always the Taliban.

You’re right that it was more nuanced than stating who a Catholic ā€˜must’ vote for…it was also more nuanced than your statement that they ā€œsaid that a Catholic may vote for someone like the president.ā€ Because of the way their guidance was written though, it gave a convenient out for people to use their words to justify their pro-choice votes.

Some Bishops, like Archbishop Chaput, gave much clearer guidance. Of course, pro-choice Catholics reject such guidance as ā€œgroupthinkā€ because they don’t understand what proper formation of conscience entails.

Well, I understand about proper formation of conscience, since you brought it up. I heard all about it during the Vietnam debate. And I heard a prominent cardinal change his mind about the necessity of the war later on, after the shooting stopped.

Yeah okay. I know some Catholic Obama supporters who felt that war outweighed other life issues like abortion. Besides the fact that they don’t understand Church teaching, they also should feel pretty dumb now that they see Obama isn’t changing much in Iraq, is increasing troop levels in Afghanistan and is increasing the size of the military.

The biggest difference between Obama and McCain was their stance on life issues. Catholics who ignored that, including apparently the new Monsignor, should do a proper examination of conscience IMHO. It’s sad.

Another encouraging article:

The Elephant in the Room: In praise of Catholic priests who dare to teach and enforce

I also have this very very uneasy feeling that he is going to attack Pokestan! ( His pronounciation )
His foreign policies ( having a more positive feeling towards the US) have not so far fared very well. China out and out said that they hate us because of this totally absurd stimulus bill. His Secretary of state has managed to tick of Irsael. Way to Go!
