Sure, Iāll always consider that I might be wrong about something. But, in this case, I side with the Pope when he says that Catholics must protect life (and thus may not vote for anti-life politicians like Obama).Well, as the moderator says, at least consider that you may be wrong.
I think Catholic bishops last year had a more nuanced take on the election than the way you state what a Catholic must do.Sure, Iāll always consider that I might be wrong about something. Okay. But, Iāll go with the Popeās straightforward, clear view over ānuanceā anyway .I think Catholic bishops last year had a more nuanced take on the election than the way you state what a Catholic must do.
Obama doesnāt have a parish and you know it. We all know that he is not Catholic. We also know that Fr. Pfleger, and many other Chicago priests are not following Rome or their own Cardinal. It is well known that Obamaās parish congratulated him on his election. They threw a party, in fact.
The same way I live in one of the Mormonās wards Obama happens to live in a parish. And he helped in the food pantry at a Catholic church in another parish, right after the election. It was not Father Pflegerās, by the way.Obama doesnāt have a parish and you know it. We all know that he is not Catholic. We also know that Fr. nice try, but that spin did ot work before either.I think Catholic bishops last year had a more nuanced take on the election than the way you state what a Catholic must do.
ā¦He is yours and you can have him.

I could not agree more! I suspect most Catholics, if not most Americans, will come to truly rue the day that Obama was elected President, if they donāt already. I think we are going to be one sorry and sorrowful lot of people who used to live in a nation once known as the United States of America. My opinion only, of course, but my fears keep being realized, so it wouldnāt surprise me if that one is as well.
Iām curious why do you keep posting this nonsense? truthfully I usually just laugh at your posts because I am not sure what it is you are trying to accomplish.Actually, the bishops said that a Catholic may vote for someone like the president. There was no āeither orā involved. People seem to forget that in their polarized views.
And that is a lot more nuanced than stating who a Catholic āmustā vote for.
Youāre right that it was more nuanced than stating who a Catholic āmustā vote forā¦it was also more nuanced than your statement that they āsaid that a Catholic may vote for someone like the president.ā Because of the way their guidance was written though, it gave a convenient out for people to use their words to justify their pro-choice votes.Actually, the bishops said that a Catholic may vote for someone like the president. Some Bishops, like Archbishop Chaput, gave much clearer guidance. Of course, pro-choice Catholics reject such guidance as āgroupthinkā because they donāt understand what proper formation of conscience entails.
Yeah okay. I know some Catholic Obama supporters who felt that war outweighed other life issues like abortion. Besides the fact that they donāt understand Church teaching, they also should feel pretty dumb now that they see Obama isnāt changing much in Iraq, is increasing troop levels in Afghanistan and is increasing the size of the military.Well, I understand about proper formation of conscience, since you brought it up. I heard all about it during the Vietnam debate. And I heard a prominent cardinal change his mind about the necessity of the war later on, after the shooting stopped.
Another encouraging article:Following is another example of the problems that plague our Church, again in California. Iām not picking on California, I only say again because the subject post is about a priest from OC and the second one is from Escondido. And, this time, the priest is supporting the teachings of the Church and is being thwarted by his Bishop. Clearly, not all Bishops support the Church and not all Bishops are equal. The Bishop in this case is clearly wrong. But, the people got it right with a letter-writing campaign to support the priest, so that is encouraging.
Priest gives truthful sermon on current abominations:

And is quickly rebuked by his Bishop because of one complaint:

I also have this very very uneasy feeling that he is going to attack Pokestan! ( His pronounciation )Yeah okay. The biggest difference between Obama and McCain was their stance on life issues. Catholics who ignored that, including apparently the new Monsignor, should do a proper examination of conscience IMHO. Itās sad.
